Murray’s ego surely not this dysfunctional?

272

The most interesting thing about news (cough) that David Murray is considering investing in Newco Rangers, is that the club, chaired by Dave King, is in such a dark place that it will countenance doing business with a man King has so publicly vilified.

You can imagine a whole list of people they would rather approach for money before getting to Zsa Zsa himself.  You now know all you need to know about the response they got from those more palatable than Murray.

My principle concern at this story is that Dave King’s enormously important work at Ibrox will soon come to an end.  It is difficult to overstate how important King has been to the corporate health of this football club.  From the club’s inception in June 2012 he campaigned relentlessly to usurp several iterations of owners, invoking internecine strife at the heart of the club.

Now, three years after taking control, the harsh realities of what he has done and what lies ahead – having to compete with Celtic and what will be close to a £100m turnover, with a club that will turnover in the region of £30m this season, will be evident.  Even to King!

Due to his past form, David Murray will not get near an official position at Newco, but things can happen in the shadows.  It is not beyond the possibility that he will find a few million of conscience money, but for all I think of Murray’s ego, it is surely not dysfunctional enough to see him move into this firing line.  Surely?

“Long live the King!”  Oh how we laughed.

To quote a CQN phrase ‘it’s the hope that kills them..’ will never be more correct than Sunday. The total hype for the huns, Murtinho, the cheers when they got us in the semi final, the phone ins, ‘hotlines’, endless ex huns with EBT’s, the guys in your local, etc etc. They will not handle Sunday , the ‘expectation’ is something they will not handle. What if we go 2 up in 15 minutes? Will Wenger’s replacement stick or go for damage limitation? What if they are struggling to get out their own half, and the hun hordes, full of ‘expectation’ are not seeing what they bought in to before the game? They have 3 or 4 making a Derby Debut which has been ignored.Brendan has had a free midweek to rest guys, and concentrate on Sunday. No team talk required, the huns and the Laptop Loyal have already done it.We will win by 2 or 3, big Dembele MOTM.You heard it here first.

Aye great idea we join a Belgian Dutch Polish or whatever league, Now I don’t profess to know or just can’t be bothered doing the research but I imagine we would have to join these leagues at their very lowest teirs. Can you imagine 2nd 3rd or maybe even 4th rate teams from another country turning up at Celtic Park every 2nd Saturday and no European football for a few seasons or if ever. Yeah I’m sure that will have the season ticket and TV revenue money rolling in.

The only way Celtic will ever leave the Scottish set up is at the behest of of the TV companies who now run European football and that ain’t going to happen in my lifetime.

  5. **** LAST MAN STANDING 10 ****

    ***** JUST 1 MORE SLEEP******

    ****** Deadline: 7pm Friday ******

We are now into TREBLE figures for the number of entrants for the imminent competition. But fear not, you still have more than 22 hours left if you want to join in. Last Man Standing 10, our last competition for this season, starts on Friday, 9th March 2018.

The competition will follow the same format as before and to win the entire prizepot, all you have to be is the Last (wo)man Standing at the end of the competition.

Not played before? Simply, select a uniquely different team from the list of football fixtures provided by us each week, and if you are the last (wo)man standing, then you win the prize. Remember you can only pick the same team once in any competition, so you need to decide when to play the big guns! Full rules will be emailed to everyone who shows any interest.

The cost to take part is £10 per entry ( you can have more than 1 entry if you wish), and just in case you falter in any weeks 1 to 3, then we even allow you to buy your history back for a further £10. How easy is that? Surely you must win it!

The prizepot is 50% of all entrance and “history buyback” fees, with the remaining 50% being paid over to good causes.

For LMS10, the remaining 50% will be split between our Lisbon nominated benefactor “CQN Helping OUR mate Mick” receiving 80% of the donated proceeds and our Seville nominated benefactor “Just another street dog”, a charitable cause that is run by one of our CQNers and his wife, receiving 20% of the donated proceeds.

You can read about these worthy causes here –

    http://mymatemick.com/

    https://www.facebook.com/Spanishstreetdogs/

So if you want to take part please send an email NOW to cqnpredictor@gmail.com saying “ Can I play” and we will send you emails detailing the rules, how to pay your £10 and, of course, the first week’s fixtures.

Please also feel free to encourage family, friends and work colleagues to join in, as the more that take part, means a bigger prizepot and more monies raised for good causes.

In LMS9, we had 137 entrants which was a record. It would be great to beat this record entry level in LMS10.

Oh and did we mention that the competition window slams shut (don’t they all) on FRIDAY 9th MARCH AT 7.00PM ;-)

    Here goes

Many of you will be aware of my daughter Laura, and her very special Heart of Gold for those in desperate need of help.

CQN in the past has been very kind to Laura in supporting her charitable drives

Be that HCPT, and paying to take 2 very special kids to Lourdes, or through feeding and clothing for several months an orphanage in Kenya.

This year (Laura claims will be her last as she gets married next year) Laura is doing something totally different, but awesome and will make a Huge, no Gigantic difference to many hundreds of less fortunate girls.

This year Laura will be heading to a special Girls school in Ghana, which is supported by a charity called “Let us Shine” https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=gU9sx_kjRX8

This girls school is run in my view very similar to Mary’s Meals, and the charity/ school was set up by a local Stirling Doctor, Mary Higgins in memory of her Doctor husband.

St Mary’s primary school in Bannockburn have this school as it’s chosen charity, and the school is also sponsored by St Margaret’s Cowie and St Mary’s Raploch, plus the local Stirling churches.

Mary and her husband were very well known in the Stirling school/church community.

    Anyway

This July Laura is heading to Ghana to teach at this girls school for a month

Laura will be only the 2nd fully qualified teacher to teach at the school in its 5 year existence.

We are paying for Laura’s visit, but she is looking to raise £3000 for the school, to feed and cloth the girls.

St Mary’s Bannockburn, where Laura is a teacher are fully supporting and fundraising for this event, with the kids at school all doing wonderful things in supporting The fundraising.

One of the events Laura is looking for support.

On Friday March 23rd the school has arranged a Race Night ( adults only) to be held in the school hall, it’s a BYOB event.

Laura would be extremely grateful if any of the CQN brigade could join us at the race night £5 per ticket- join CRC at his table :-))

Also, very kindly donated by the Walk with Shay team, we have a few very special prizes on offer if CQN’rs were to be kind enough to sponsor the jockeys of the races on the night – again £5 per jockey (CRC will inform on the prizes)

We are also looking for some prizes for the raffle on the night

Interesting blog today re Huns & SFA cheats. I spent 25 years doing what lots of Celtic supporters did in fair weather and foul, going to cheer on our beloved Hoops. Reculently I have decided to put this on hold until I “see what happens” The main thing for me is the contineuity myth and no stripping of throphies and the club currently hoping for justice from due process which will never happen. Hurting Celtic though is a total no no for me and though I’ve currently suspended myself from paying towards a rigged Scottish football competition I have channeled that cash into Celtic club merchandise, therefore satisfying my own grievances but still financially supporting my beloved Hoops. I love strutting about with all my Celtic gear on, and now have more than ever to pick from and wear with Green White and Gold pride ! That’s just another option for those who cannot face paying towards rigged competition but don’t want to totally hurt Celtic financially. I think one thing all Celtic fans should do is try to source t-shirts in Scotland colours and in white lettering get a personal corruption message about the sfa, spfl, Regan, Doncaster etc. We are the smartest, wittiest support around and could hit the streets with our message. Anyway hope The Hoops players & fans survive the inevitable thuggery on and off the park on Sunday, box clever and stay safe, and come back home with all three points against a klan that will be only the tender age of 5 years & 225 days old come Glasgow Derby day on Sunday !! Hail Hail…

  19. M6BHOY on 8TH MARCH 2018 2:10 PM

I am certainly not going to criticise any supporter who chooses not follow me in boycotting the all aspects of the professional game in Scotland till the cheats are properly punished. But I am not going to be lectured by those who say it has always happened and we should plough on regardless. Yes, it has always happened but this time we have a shed load of documentary evidence which proves beyond doubt what they were up to.

*I’ve written tomes and tomes about the injustices we faced through the years, in fact so much that Sting might have tae record another CD tae help the rain forests.

Our fathers and grandfathers while not exactly sitting at the back of the bus understood what the natural order of things were in the most anti-Catholic country in the western world, one where the curse of the reformation never moved on, where the original patron saint of the country who hail hailed from Cashel is replaced by a Galilean fisherman who never stepped foot on the country while the Tipperary man is still revered in the saner parts of the country and even has an oil field named after him, however we never flinched and stayed the course with the club as that’s who we were.

I recall as a wee bhoy travelling home on the oul Vale of Leven CSC bus and the convener asked the driver tae slow down going through Duntocher so he could ask a passer by the local Hibs score. As he sat down he said tae my da, “if Celtic were tae get relegated tae the Juniors I would still support them”, I turned tae my da and said “so would I”.

In spite of the venom that has been thrown at us, as big Billy once said “there’s something magical about this club” which may account for the 157 domestic trophies, not forgetting 50 Reserve and 40 Youth ones, we have won as well as the Empire Exhibition (2), Coronation and Big Ears Cup, runners up in that as well as the UEFA Cup although 6 of those achievements were outside the confines of Scottish football.

When the Big Mhan came back seemingly Bob Kelly told him that there were certain situations that would occur that were outwith our control to which he allegedly replied beyond listening distance ‘aye that’ll be right”.

The Big Mhan fought in our corner and in spite of the cheating and some of us on here have seen it, davidshun in 1970, Gordon in 1972 (both finals at hunden) and again in the nae penalty game in 1978, he still amassed an amazing 30 trophies and more importantly made us a force in Europe. Let’s not forget he was also our captain when we gained our first double in 40 years and when the reserve coach laid the foundations for the Big Cup and the honest NIAR.

Our greatest ever player was fined by the same crowd that refused tae play him in the 1974 WC for stating in his book “Fire in my Boots” that deidco players got away with more abuse of the mitby on the park, even tae the extent of swearing at them, than others, he didnae sit at the back of the bus and was a thorn in their side for another 6 years.

When the wee mhan fae Croy via Montreal arrived we were all screaming tae buy a team tae save our NIAR, not that wee visionary, he knew they were a busted flush and brought in the best and brightest businessmen (not all Celtic minded BTW) to put us on the financial footing we now enjoy.

We have now won more trophies than them including their EBT years since then, as well as being celebrated in Seville while they were disparaged in Manchester, and since they’re deid, © wee Leigh, we can only continue to do so.

We are a better educated and informed support now, way ahead of the jobs for boys mob and as far as I can see from 3.5k miles away in a better position than our forefathers were in fact in a better position than I and my contemporaries were. As Freddy Mercury once said “These Are the Days of Our Lives”

I don’t for a minute believe we are sitting back in fear of any reprisals, we know what corrupt UEFA complete with dallas and ogilvie (incidentally his namesake our only post-reformation saint started out a calvinist before converting to the one true and holy faith wonder if he knows that) are like but we also have the businessmen in charge are that are giving them the 30 pieces of silver and enough rope tae hang themselves and personally I hope that a man (I use that term loosely) with nae legs and another with pontoon eyes are dangling from one of the nooses.

Now I know this might sound unchristian or disrespectful and I can accept the years in the wilderness, more so because of the incompetence of our board as opposed to cheating, although the latter wisnae put to the test as the likes of Clyde, Dundee, Dunfermline, Hearts (5), Kilmarnock and St Mirren won trophies.

But the baders years, no nae chance and it wisnae just us that got shafted either, although other teams did win cups as long as it was ABC that was ok, their avarice and greed knew no bounds and he did conspire tae put us out of the game.

Starry ;) maybe cleaner should be the word. In my defence the league didn’t set out to systematically cheat, it was a bad egg in those cases you bring up. Ain’t really the same. But I take the point, no league is perfect.

Tonyrome , honestly turned my back on them. Around the time Armstrong signed I walked away. And apparently I read on here he turned into a player which I always thought he would. I lurk on here, post the odd time, but refuse to click the bonfigli goal links posted on here that’s how serious I am. So for all intensive purposes they are dead to me. Right now that is. If this report is a whitewash that’s me forever out.

I suspect the report will be made available just after the season tickets are bought ,surprise surprise, and will blame Regan, and recommend some reforms to be implemented slowly over the course of a few years. During those few years thems that want to wallow in my blood will be helped back to where they belong and the new processes implemented won’t have any real difference in life.

And viola,, the greatest footie swindle ever is complete.

Remember the phrase playing a blinder,,,can you believe some people actually thought it was us playing a blinder!

A blinder was played alright,,,and I gotta admit if they get away with all this then yes they did play a blinder,,at everyone else’s expense of course.

I think what we are going to see here is an fc united of Manchester type of thing where about a couple thousand of us leave the rest to the farce and dedicate ourselves the new vehicle of our hopes and dreams.

I suspect it won’t be Scotland either.

And me and Kev jungle will be there every week singing to empty stands ” where were you when we were Celtic!”
