It’s ‘get back on the horse’ time for Celtic tomorrow when they face Inverness at Celtic Park. The Highlanders will arrive with a different type of momentum about them from the home team. On their last outing Celtic conceded a league goal and lost a league game for the first time since before Jock Stein’s arrival in 1965*. They are now out of all three cup competitions and have an unassailable 19 point lead in the league. Talk in some places has already turned to giving the younger players an outing.
By contrast it’s all kicking off for Inverness, who humbled Hearts to reach the first Celtic Park final of the season, just two weeks away. The excitement in Inverness is palpable. Betting odds are seldom generous on Celtic at home but with all the sub-currents surrounding this one I’d prefer not to predict an outcome.
What we need to do is match the energy of Inverness and ensure our passing and movement remains crisp.
If you are tempted into a bet, don’t look past Kris Commons to get things moving. He is our go-to guy when we’re looking for an ignition button. Kris has been phenomenal in front of goal this season but he has failed to score in four outings. The last time this happened was 51 weeks ago. My bet is that he can’t wait to get on the field and put things right.
The outstanding Celtic Graves Society are breathing life into the memory of Peter Dowds, who played for Celtic from 1889. Writing in 1936, Willie Maley wrote about Peter, “He did not find the ball. Nothing so common. It found him.”
A short ceremony will take place at Peter’s grave, at Abbey Cemetery, Elderslie, at 11:30 tomorrow. If you live in the area or can make it along, please do so. You will hear from Jim Craig and others, and get infused with our early history in a way you’ll never do sitting at a screen. Details here.
There is a little over two weeks to go before the CQteN St Patrick’s Night Dinner on Friday, 14 March, at the Kerrydale Suite, Celtic Park. The beneficiary of the night will be Kholoni Primary School, Malawi, where we will fund Mary’s Meals to build a kitchen for 1200 kids who currently don’t have meal facilities.
We have received some incredible assistance already, but you can get involved by ordering a personalised beanie hat, with your name on one side and CQN on the other.
Hats cost £15 each and if you order before 7 March you can collect yours at the CQteN Dinner. If you’re not attending the dinner (and why not?) the £15 will cover postage and packaging. If you ordered a Virtual Ticket, you’re personalised hat is part of your package. All profits go to the school kitchen.
Take a look at the front and back of the hats. To order, email hatfrompat@celticquicknews.co.uk with name, whether you are attending CQteN and address if not, and I’ll get your message to Pat.

The booing of Fergus is the most shameful collective act by the Celtic support in my lifetime. The MSM loved it. A clap on the back to all who participated. Not!
On this day in 1977, a brand new song was born, from the jungle we sang……
He used to be a Hun but he’s alright now Alfie, Alfie. He used to be a Hun but he’s alright now Alfie Alfie Conn!

It’s also fair to say …… Their children will be Celts :>)

Hope your scan went ok yesterday.
Oh forgot!
Good morning Celts!

Vmhan – Although when Billy McNeill took over he has quick to bin Conn after he bragged about Celtic getting beat by US. Turns out he was always one.
There was one thing I didn’t say in praise of fergus last night. He took on Darry, the SFA and the MSM over the cadete affair. That he won and that he won so spectacularly is to his eternal credit. It was probably the first time that the lid was lifted on the cheating and sectarianism. I remember at the time waiting on the debate around why Garry had acted the way he did (though we all knew). Not one media outlet had that debate. The closest they came was on radio Scotland where Richard Gordon said, astonishingly, that he didn’t even want to think about why Garry delayed the registration.
That the CEO of the SFa had to resign over the matter should have been a national scandal and have sparked a debate on institutional sectarianism within Scotland,. But it didn’t.
Here is my question for all of you. As I say it is to McCann external credit that he would not accept the behaviour of Farry and he fought on in spite of the forces ranged against him. But would our current custodians do the same?
Not read back any more than a few posts but happy birthday Phil and
TD67 all the best, thoughts and prayers for you today.

kitalba –
I don’t keep cyber copies of everything you post. But as you openly admit to having s copy of everything I have ever posted, it shouldn’t be too hard to find my post to Micky where I apologised for you thinking he was me, and the abuse he suffered as a result. Shouldn’t be hard to find it in your wee pink scrap book.
As for the friend of Paul67, have you forgotten the email he sent me telling me you had been stalking a friend of his, accusing him of being me? I still have a copy of that if you’d like me to post it again.
I have posted as nothing but Tom, Tom McLaughlin and Gold Coast Tom for at least 2, maybe 3 years, yet still you bring this up.
You also accused me of faking a heart attack. Oh of course, like the coward you are, you didn’t come right out and say it. You made a comment about how you drink regularly with the consultants in the Gold Coast Hospital coronary care unit, just a day after I was dischargef from there. Let me guess. You were hoping I’d say . . . Did I say Gold Coast Hospital? I meant Robina Hospital. Instead, I was forced to post my discharge papers on CQN.
Well done for making me resort to that you heartless cretin.
Vmhan…..
Thanks, but it’s my wee girl’s birthday.
She was posting under my ndb!
Take care !
BT. rl thanks. Will be be +1 ?

Anyway, I’ve just blown up 30 balloons.
Away fur a lie doon.
Ger57. Sorry but I am going to have to say this again. Fergus let us all down in his last year in charge. He protected his investment. As I have repeatedly said it was the support who made his time here so successful and so profitable. But he effectively abandoned any notion of success or competing in that final year. THAT is why he was booed.
I do agree that the MSM were doing what they always do with celtic. Both exaggerating bad news and making it up when it wasn’t there. Kelvins revisionism last night was beyond belief.
I am looking forward to giving fergus a standing ovation. All that has unfolded since with the Huns and the SFA has shown what he and we were up against. So it’s only right. But I won’t forget what fergus did or didn’t do at the end of his time with us. It’s almost as if building from a position of strength is an anathema to celtic.
Corkcelt a big HH and thanks for that. Up the Rebels ha.
Vmhan. On the supporters bus one of our compatriots thought that the song went “Alfie had a hump but he’s alright now”. Much to our collective amusement.
Quasimodo cfc.

You really didn’t need to post your sick note on a football blog.
Everyone else on here believed you and wished you well.
If I posted all my ailments on here it would be a long post.
I’m not taking sides here but it seems you and Kit are just going over old, well trodden ground.
Mibbe you should swap emails and discuss it in private.
I really do wish you both well

I agree about Dundee Utd, though I think their forwards do over elaborate.
I know we as Celtic fans always want to sign classy opposition players who have a couple of good games, but I really think the left back Robertson is the real deal, and would be a great “project” for Danny McGrain to develop.
philboy-
It was precisely BECAUSE so many CQNers had wished me well that I felt it necessary to post my sick note, after such an allegation.
This is positively my last post on this subject and I will now ignore the man.
Onwards and upwards.
