My only flag’s a Celtic flag

492

I get that football thrives where it is a manifestation of tribalism. Across Europe and beyond club flags offer people more affinity with than any national emblem.

But, with one or two exceptions, it’s a largely innocuous brand. We get to wear tribal garb and indulge in our rituals without onerous economic consequence. The echo from the Great Recession, which we are still hearing today, has been a lesson in what can happen when a tribe perceives that its relative position has diminished.

That perception often bears absolutely no relation to reality, but widespread economic illiteracy makes us look like a primitive animals.

My only flag’s a Celtic flag.  You are my only tribe.

Both would been a better choice than Clinton, and certainly better than Trump.

As far as I am concerned, any celebrities who want to leave the USA are welcome to join me in Canada …. along with all the rest who may feel that they are not welcome in Trump’sAmerica … like Muslims, women, latinos …..

The absolute pish that some are coming away with boils down to Trump is bad, HRC is good, had the msm been pushing the opposite I wonder what the people would be saying.

The same people who are scathing of the msm, yet they allow the msm control their thinking.

I have read on here from quite a few that Jeremy Corbyn is unelectable, Labour supporters, they hear this from the msm who are shittin themselfs from the likes of Corbyn, yet they spout this crap.

You will have to live with your pain, thankfully I don’t :-)

Being an ‘auld yin’ I can remember the ‘celebrities’ who were going to leave the UK if Labour won the first Tony Blair election (another promised the earth did f-all when he won politician FFS never repealed even one Maggie Thatcher anti-trade union law) and from memory there were some stoaters in there …. Jimmy Saville Jimmy Tarbruck Jim Davidson Cilla Black … all good clean living Conservative supporters ! Aye that’ll be right Jimmy!

I want the Donald to build two walls, deport all illegals regardless of the country they are from, get the jails emptied and get the inmates back to their country of origin, and if Canada wants them so be it. I want him to withdraw all the boots on the ground from the Middle East, Let Europe handle the problems it is on their doorstep. Use the troops to guard the borders while the walls are being built. The money saved by not servicing illegals can be used to rebuild the infrastructure of the country and in so doing create jobs.

In relation to the popular vote, the figures I’ve seen are remarkable close, so it wasn’t by any recognised definition, a landslide. Not even close.

Leaving the politics out of it I think part of the shock of the result is that some as vulgar and trashy as Trump has won.

  27. Canamalar it looks like OCD obsession on

The little I saw of the yank election build up it appeared the meeja were firmly backing Clinton, at the beginning trump questioned the logic of being in Syria or trying to face down Putin, he was ridiculed and some even tried to imply he is a communist ffs.

The reason the meeja are so shocked and calling it a shock result is because their campaign to instal Clinton into the white house failed. The yanks appear to be sick to death of political liars and thought it was time for fresh lies in stead of the same old same old, me I think it’s a refreshing change, he’s threatened the establishment let’s see if he’s got the balls to carry it through.

  28. Ernie

‘” Any working class person in the US who thinks that it was in their interests to support Donald Trump is gullible.”

Probably, but he told them what they wanted to hear, more than HRC did, maybes cos she knew that she had sold them down the river and the trade deals she has endorsed, and accepted vast sums of money to make sure they went through on the back of, would make sure they would never have an earthly of work again.

There is a chance that the likes of TTIP and a few others can be stopped under Trump, slim but it’s better that what it would have been under HRC, this is why they voted the way they did, imo.
