Nadir, farting at Shirebrook, fantasists in control

194

I like the idea of competitive training.  If you’re not receiving a hard challenge at training you’re not going to be sufficiently prepared for it in competitive action.  It’s also fair to acknowledge that Nadir Ciftci’s retaliation on Emilio Izaguirre had the unfortunate coincidence of happening on a press conference day, with the bloody aftermath photographed.  I’ve no doubt that such instances happen more often away from the press pack.  By that doesn’t make any of it right.

Lose your cool at training and you’re more likely to lose your cool on the pitch, so as well as legal, health and safety, and appropriate workplace behaviour concerns, I don’t even think it’s right from a football perspective.  I’d drop and fine both players.

Both Emilio and Nadir are under pressure right now, as is the team in general.  We need to use that pressure constructively, starting at Tynecastle tonight, where indiscipline is likely to be costly.

“Sports Direct continues to litigate with the Club in an attempt to enforce its wishes and demands”, Dave King, 27 Oct. 2015.  Hmmm.  “Continues to litigate” suggests recent action.  I wonder where this is heading, and how quickly?  The subsequent bluster from King about Defending Ol’ Newco’s Walls and sending strongly worded letters from Rangers Retail Limited is Pythonesque.  He may as well have proclaimed he’s farted in the general direction of Shirebrook.

Four months ago King told a receptive media: “On a scale of one to 100, [Ashley] doesn’t get up to one in terms of a threat.”  You and I were more skeptical at the time.  On a threat scale of one to 100, I reckon Mike’s at least a 67.

As King prepared to win control of the club in March, when he pondered that Sports Direct had possibly give two £5m loans, he dismissed concerns about owing Mike money by saying: “To me, that’s just noise level, because £10m going forward is well within the numbers of understanding we have to invest.”

It’s “just noise”.  “Well within the numbers we have to invest.”  Again, we were skeptical at the time.  I wonder how this one will turn out.

Three months ago all fears were allayed when King proclaimed: “I regarded that meeting as being a good meeting with Sports Direct.

“One of my suggestions was we should look at a restructuring of the relationship and I indicated I would make proposals. They were willing at least to listen to me. They have not given a commitment one way or another, but they did say ‘Dave, you are an important customer of ours. We would like to make the relationship work, please come to us with your proposals.’

As far as good meetings go, that sounds like a pretty bad one.  There’s not a sales manager in the country didn’t read that synopsis of King’s meeting and reflect on the rep who had a great pipeline but was clearly unable to differentiate between what he wants to happen, and what’s going to happen.  Fantasy and reality.  There’s no harm in a bit of fantasy, it’s a part of the human condition, but someone has to ensure that fantasists don’t grab the controls.

Dave, you’re an important inspiration of ours*.

Bad news, mate. Since the game is on a Wednesday,BBC Scotland are unable to show it. I think it clashes wi a ludj meeting.

  2. Hi Guys, I’m an infrequent poster on here! I understand BJ Mac has 2 Christy Moore tickers for the Barrowlands! I’m desperate for them! Can he contact me on 07729865708? Thanks.

On the Izzy being rushed to hospital thing – if he was he must have been released pretty sharpish.

I saw him wandering around the hotel the team are staying in yesterday at about 6pm…

Good luck to the Celts tonight. Stay on the front foot and teach them a football lesson.

Like others here, I’ve no idea why Celtic fans put up links to hun blogs. A hun is a hun is a hun. I say let them bite each other to death as they paddle to avoid being drowned in the cess-pit they chose to jump into.

    Nothing to do with us.

What is Cifti all about he certainly is no Turkish Delight Thomson at Dundee Utd must be laughing at what we paid for the chancer. Once again we have signed a so called striker who if he scores 8 goals a season he will be doing well. H.H.

  10. Embdae know how to refresh blog on android using Chrome? Jumping from page to page is only way i can find? Ta

  11. JFH- Ciftci is up there with Pukki,Balde,Rasmussen,Boeriggter etc,as one of John Park’s Diddymen.Widnae know a striker if he had shot him.

I said exactly that on day one.

I was slaughtered for it…as usual:)

Ciftci was a desperate signing, by a clueless, faceless entity.

It was said that Ciftci was the No. 1 target, I’m still trying to come to terms with that.

It gives me no pleasure to say I was right about Ciftci…..or rather, yes it does:)

Timposter all day long. Once you have that in your head his posts are ever funnier. Sometimes strays over the subtlety line and I’m surprised hasn’t just burst out laughing and admitted it a few times. The new stadium further west on the M8 was too far.

  14. Thanks to BJ Mac and Starry Plough I am now sorted with 2 Christy Moore Tickets for Friday. I am amazed, I tried all week to get tickets to no avail. One post on CQN Facebook and I’m all sorted. Incredible! CQN achieve incredible things on a regular basis. Thanks for doing a small favour for me, it means a lot!

  15. TBJ says Wee Oscar Knox is in heaven with the angels on

Was a wee biy taken aback when I logged into cqn and a big photo advert popped up on my phone with the text ” One night stand site delivers a good bang ” . The picture shows a guy lounging on a bed dressed only in his underpants with a young lady dressed similarly and facing him.

Now as many of you will know from my Fb – i post worse ( better ) pics than that and I’m anything but a prude – buthey I need to ask if moral standards are slipping on CQN ;)

  16. Since ACGR. has left the blog, I would like to serve notice that I will be buying his history. I will, of course, only take the good bits.

In due course I will become ACGR international and be taken over by a criminally minded south effrikan billionaire.

Then – and only then – will the world be back in its natural order.

  18. The Green Man

You do know that Ciftci has only played a handful of games? Writing him off already?

  19. Bobby Murdochs Curled up Winkle pickers-.All. sorted! I’ve not missed a Christy Barrowlands Gig for well over a Decade. It’s almost as good as a trip to Paradise I must try and post more often. There are so many talented scribes on here, I’m not sure what I could bring to the Table!

Anyway, it’s a trip back in time tonight! The match is on Radio and not on TV! Those of us of a certain vintage can hark back to the days of Richard Park on Clyde and David Francey on Radio Scotland. Let’s hope the Bhoys put in a solid performance and keep us on schedule for a great Treble.

  20. Re the punch up on the training field. After Tosh put the heid in Henke, who it should be noted along with wee Stinker was taking the pi88 out of the wee Partick man, he never pulled the hoops on again as long as WTT was in charge.

Now I do realise he had lost his place to big Stephane, but even when he was not available the likes of David Hannah stepped in.

However, give him his due, when the final whistle blew on that magical May 9th day and the tainted NIAR came to an end, Tosh was one of the first back up players on the park that afternoon to cheer with the team.

  21. Being told by the Jambo at work there will be 11k at the game tonight if they are lucky.

They have a dot counter on their forum and it’s around the 10k mark just now and they expect more to buy tickets after work with it being pay day.

For the record he expects them to win 2-1 with a penalty and a red card for Brown. They usually hope Brown gets sent off every game though not just against them.

Chucking it down in auld reekie.

Get your car park and trackie tops sorted out first. Old Judas can help you with the latter I believe

  23. Ciftci so far has been a disappointment but it’s far too early to write him off. It often takes players a full season to settle at a new Club. He is obviously playing 2nd fiddle to Griffiths and his game time has been limited. He does put himself around when he comes on, I certainly wouldn’t put him in the Derk/Bangura bracket.

  24. I have been in swinecastle, not often though, and saw them at Parkheid many a time and can’t recall their support being aggressive against us, Scheidtbags is what I called them. However, I have on occasion, twice, saw them against a “wee team”, different story, or so they thought.

Decided tae go intae Boagheid one late summer’s day for the Son’s home opener in the League Cup. We had an away tie at Annfield.

There was quite a nice wee mix of local supporters of the Glasgow sides there that day tae welcome the Rock back tae big league status.

A fairly large contingent of bufties were there and early on they started with “eff yer harry harry, harry and yer lou macari and yer kevin barry”. 2 of which weren’t on the park and the other had been martyred 52 year previously.

This was followed by “jimmy johnstone is a fairy, eff the Pope and the Virgin Mary”. So now our wee talisman, our Saviour’s representative on earth and his Holy Mother were getting it.

Sooner rather than later the Brucehill Fenians of the Rock made their way round to that part of the ground and the salt and sauce eaters left with their proverbial horn encrusted tails between their legs.

When they reached the common at Dumbarton Station where their coaches were parked they must have been glad that it was such a nice warm day for their journey back tae gorgie as there wisnae a windae left intact on them. As the song says “..and when they reached the station, glad tae journey home, I can truly say they rued the day and cursed the Pope in Rome.

BTW we won 3-0 that day in Stirling and the Sons 1-0.

Second occasion and 6 months after their humiliation at the Ancient Capital of Strathclyde, I came out of work in Dumbarton and was asked by an older Celtic supporting colleague if I fancied Boagheid, we were away tae a tough looking fixture at Easter Road. The deid team were playing on the Sabbath.

This was during the 3 day week and having 2 wee weans hence the weekend work.

It was a dreich February day and the best part of it was the cairy oot. Cannae remember the game but one of the highlights was seeing a local member of the lol and diehard hun wearing a Dumbarton scarf, oh how the mighty had fallen as even the bigots were deserting them.

As I said don’t recall the match too much although the travelling support seemed a bit subdued even though they won 1-0.

As we were leaving a local Vale bluenose caught sight of me and remarked that was some score for the Celtic, 4-2, and I’d be a happy wee mhan.

I practically danced intae the lavvy and as I approached the urinal a jambo remarked tae his mate ‘see the animals won again the day”. Now think about it, we had gubbed their supposed rivals and he’s pissed off.

Cheerfully and full of the bevy I commented, ”naw yer wrang mate the animals don’t play until the morra”, at that my older china grabbed me by the collar and quickly ushered me oot.

They hate us as much as the deid/sevco mob dae.

  25. TIMALOY29

Yeah, unfortunately I am writing off Ciftci.

I did so on the first day of his transfer, and I have not seem anything that would make me change my opinion since.

I’m sure he will be really bothered that I don’t rate him:)

Having watched Celtic for almost half a century….I reckon I know a decent player when I see one.

    Ciftci doesn’t come anywhere near…imo.

I don’t think rule 4 applies in this instance, i’m sure it doesn’t.

Read on a betting site that if a club mid season were to get a points deduction, the betting on the subsequent winners are invalid, they are no daft, they sure don’t give away free money.

They used to sing this diddy regularly pre 80’s I believe. An aulder Jambo I know confirmed they did. Not sure of the origins to be honest but given their support these days I don;t see it making a comeback anytime soon.
