Remarkably, that’s three consecutive draws for Celtic across three competitions, as many as we recorded in our previous 24 games this season. Unlike the 0-0 in Zagreb and the 3-3 at Hampden, the reason for the 0-0 at Dundee United was neither stifled midfielders nor defensive mistakes, it was profligate attacking play.
Kyogo had two great chances: he missed the ball with the first, then bizarrely allowed the ball to run across both feet without actually shooting with the second. Adam Idah also had a fresh air shot, before he appeared to misjudge a pass from Kyogo when he was clear inside the box.
Surely every Celtic fan watching at some point in the game shouted, “Just hit the target” to either Reo Hatate or Luke McCowan. Both came close but several attempts went wide.
Pregame, our concerns were for the defence, without Cameron Carter-Vickers, Auston Trusty and Alistair Johnston. As it turned out, Stephen Welsh, Liam Scales and Anthony Ralston dominated their opposite numbers all game. The absence of Nicolas Kuhn and James Forrest was felt more, as Yang, and then Luis Palma failed to make an impact.
Brendan Rodgers is entitled to enjoy the results his side have earned this season, but performances dipped enormously between the wins over Leipzig and at Kilmarnock, which leaves a nagging doubt.

I don’t have any nagging doubts over the manager , he has shown that he is the real deal .
I don’t have any remaining doubts about the likes of Yang or Palma either …….. I’m convinced they need upgraded ASAP .
If one of our main men like Kuhn is unavailable we need to be able to call on a replacement who is not too far behind him in quality . These two are miles behind .
for me the problem is that we dont have an out and out goal scorer….
and if we’re bringing anyone back home, make it jota…

Wonder if Ruud van Nistelrooy has any nagging doubts about taking
the Leicester gig?
He’ll be fine once e gets the bit between his teeth .
2.75 points per game.
We did 2.79 ppg in the invincibles season of 2016-17.
We were pretty flat during December 2016.
Good point made earlier – let’s see where we are on 03 February 2025.
Good to meet you too,Texas Tim,i hope the rest of your trip is as good as meeting you Lennox,Elliot and John.

AT Dan – pleasure talking with you.
Funny moment when I heard a voice behind me “are you guys from Texas” – felt like that was too much for coincidence so I thought I better speak up!
If Celtic were to bring back Jota would they have to pay tax ?
Jota was the best player in our league when he left, no idea on his taxes, if he was available willing and affordable a no brainer for me even more than a left back, for at least until season end we have 2.
Can we buy someone who can take a freekick (deadball expert).
Maybe encourage hitting the ball from distance especially with the wind behind your back …..it also pushes defenders out to close down leaving gaps …

That’s what made Allan Thompson one of my favourite players… 25 yards out and the opposition defence had to close him down which created space for someone else.

And many more struck fear into teams who didn’t close them down and yes Thompson was a hero to me too not only a gifted footballer but took no shit (he could tackle)
Re Jota.
I am sure I read somewhere that if Jota signs permanently for another club ,before his contract is up ,he would be liable for tax payment .HH

Mmm. Am I witnessing something of a pincer movement agin our manager involving our host and Burnley 78? Cetainly seems that way. Celtic have won and hold the three major trophies in this Calendar year, lost only once in domestic football since this time in 2023 and are in a good position to qualify for the CL last 16 play-offs. Nagging doubts? I’ve got a few in relation to both Parties, doubts that they remain loyal to the cause.
In fact once again I hear the sound of distant drums…..

Respectfully disagree, you only really need to read comment on yesterdays draw to see a little query come in from Paul67,after all it is his blog to encourage debate,
I think the days of Pete live only in your head,we are still working towards another title and in my opinion i do not think either are at the sphincter ticklin.we have a virus running thro our squad
We have not being pkaying well since leipzig yet we are still on schedule for more honours plus we have a window to negotiate.
In short believe, our manager is here and good to go imo

Maybe doubting BRRB really does visit all those establishments 🤔🧐

Like for you, it would be a concern for me and probably a few others if it is 6 points or less of a lead against a rival who was dead, or at least on its knees, 5 weeks ago.
Anyone who thinks it is a Palma or Taylor or Ralston or Yang problem has clearly turned a blind eye to some pretty smart opponents learning g and setting out a plan to combat Celtic fairly successfully.
The past 3 games we have seen 3 teams get results over 95 mins or so, which exceeded their expectations against us. Prior to that only Ross Co (v a scratch line up) have been comfortably beaten since the Leipzig game.
I don’t think anyone who actually goes to the games or watches them can deny this. I am surprised that many are in denial.
Personally I don’t know if it is that BR felt he had to change a winning formula and started using the full squad and we lost our consistency , or if there was a lack of responding to the obvious tactics of our opponents, or if there is an arrogance that we can simply do the same but better and win, or if our back up players are not good enough ? We did change it and win 5-0 in the first half v Ross Co but that apart we have not showed any signs of addressing the obvious issues in performance. Performance is of course what BR always talks about.
Anyone thinking we have momentum vs our rivals going into the next critical phase lives on another planet imo.
Celtic have a cery
Darwin is Big Pistol Pete.
See it all now.
🤔🥸
How about Derek McInnes.
He can outfox the Old Firm.
Celtic have a very simple choice this January, spend 20 million + on some right good quality players, tool up for the title and get prepared for champions league tilt now and next season or spend 20 million + on corporation taxes. Celtic have paid more taxes on income than the whole of the spfl each and every year for 5 years, I think it’s time to invest in the product, just like every other business.
Leftback, left winger, central attacking midfielder and forward should do it.

——————–
He’s my kinda midfielder , can play and can mix it with the so called hard men.
Exactly what we’re missing our midfielders are much the same (Luke excluded) couldn’t tackle a fish supper …..lovely on the ball .
We need the snap , quick tempo and passing back and for that we need width and movement .
I find it strange that many seem to think we are in trouble because our opponents have now figured out our style. Knowing how an opponent plays is not the same as learning how to beat that opponent.
aipple. sorry forgot that, silly me
