WILFRIED NANCY could be in the St Mirren stand on Saturday night as Martin O’Neill continues to lead Celtic in an interim capacity.
The Frenchman is on the brink of becoming the champions’ long-term successor to Brendan Rodgers and could even be named this week, according to a report in the respected sports journal L’Equipe.
The daily sports paper states that Nancy is in “advanced talks” and negotiations are going well. If an agreement over a compensation package can be struck with Colombus Crew.

TARGET MAN…Wilfried Nancy has been linked with Celtic.
It is believed the MLS club are holding out for something in the region of £2million for their 48-year-old head coach who is under contract until December 2026.
There are no suggestions Nancy will be fast-tracked into the dug-out for Saturday’s 8pm kick-off in the Premier Sports League Cup Final dress rehearsal against Steven Robinson’s Saints.
However, Nancy could take his place in the stand to see his new team in action for the first time – if the deal is rubber-stamped.
The game is likely to be O’Neill’s fifth and final encounter since his dramatic return just over three weeks ago following Brendan Rodgers’ sudden resignation.
