NAWROCKI PUZZLER

HANNOVER 96 are NOT willing to meet Celtic’s £3.5million valuation of Maik Nawrocki – but the Bundesliga 2 side are still keen to keep the centre-back at the club.

Once again, there is confusion over the future of the German-born former Poland Under-21 international who has made a mere 20 appearances for the Hoops since his £4.3million arrival from Legia Warsaw in the summer of 2023.

Nawrocki, who still has two years to run on his contract at the champions, scored three goals in appearances for the second-tier outfit who just missed out on automatic promotion by two points.

HAIL THE HERO…Maik Nawrocki is congratulated by Luke McCowan and Auston Trusty after scoring in Celtic’s 5-1 win over Aberdeen at Pittodrie a year ago.

Looking to the next phase that stalled in Scotland, Nawrocki, speaking in a Glasgow Times report, said: “Of course I would love to return, but it’s not up to me now.

“I could come back here, stay at Celtic, or go somewhere else entirely.

“Right now, I am just so disappointed we didn’t manage to win promotion for the fans because we were all convinced we would do it.”
Twenty-five-year-old Nawrocki attracted interest from other clubs in Germany after his performances in the second part of the season as his club pushed for promotion.
Curiously, the towering defender’s last appearance for Celtic came in the emphatic 5-1 victory over Aberdeen at Pittodrie on May 14 2025, a win in which he scored the opening goal.
Nawrocki didn’t even make the squad for the Scottish Cup Final against the Dons 10 days later when the Hoops lost on penalty-kicks.
