Celtic notched up their 13th straight win in domestic competition against St Mirren yesterday. That period included two wins against Lazio and a meaningless defeat to Cluj in the Europa League. After losing to Livingston on 6 October, we were two points off the pace at the top of the table. Now we are two points clear and have the League Cup back for the fourth season in succession.
Celtic have played two games every week since July apart from international breaks, when most Celtic players are in action for their nations. Their return in this period has been nothing short of exceptional. Were it not for a rush of blood to the head by Ryan Christie in Livingston and some penalty blindness at Easter Road, the question right now would be “Can anyone take a point off Celtic this season?”
Work still needs to be done to ensure we enter the winter break top of the table, but this is a script Neil Lennon and his players know well. They deserve our trust.

MM – great news about Paddy
Indeed on to another Beautiful Sunday and finish off a busy December and great year.
D. :)
Regarding wingers…
We do have a few but other than Jamesy the rest are injury prone, not ready or not good enough.
I expect McGeady to be at the game on Sunday and signed on January 1st.
He would walk into Sunday’s team and would allow RC and JF to play their natural positions.
I think NL may go with Hayes in midfield because of this.
The only problem with that is that it leaves us a wee bit wee on the right hand side.
Melbourne Mick
Thank you so much for this wonderful news.
I hope that Paddy gets an extra tonic on 29tt to speed up his recovery.

Agree regards eduard, get players close to eduard up the pitch and running at their backline quickly, match their numbers in the middle of the pitch and the man advantage and dominate display will be replaced with punting the ball into our box and panic where the man giants of ajer and jullien will sweep up everything.
Hate hearts but losing a city/ big town club and Edinburgh derby is not good for the game up here.
Have no wish to see American style franchises up here and they would not work or be accepted.
A more professional run governing body that can get better value for broadcasting and advertising and clubs that put competition before money would be a start. Our league is to small with to many games against the same teams. 2 points for a score draw would be nice to encourage attacking open football. Oh and the introduction of financial fare play.

Good stuff with Paddymacuz, good start to the last weekend of 2019, Neil Lennon will realise we weren’t at our best at Hampden (and still won) … one last push from his players will give us all a nice wee start to 2020

Spot on.. pity Amazon Prime or some other outlet would take a chance on Scottish football, Sky and to a point BT are more interested in one club
One thing Brendan did when he was up here was talk Scottish football up, far too many insular views would rather mock the game than praise it, while making a living from it (media)
I will be delighted if Dundee Utd are promoted plus would prefer Aberdeen, the Edinburgh clubs to make more of an impact … although am pretty sure they would if they were “allowed” to run at a £10m @ season loss
Thank you all for the best wishes and kind thoughts towards PADDY.
He won’t be too happy about me posting wee newsies all the time.
But that man deserves so much more recognition for his devotion to
our club over here in Oz.
He’s founded various Csc’s throughout the country, started up, coached,
managed, soccer clubs like Prahran Celtic who had numerous teams
bhoys/ghirls all in the hoops,
And is always at the forefront of any charity drive we think is worthy.
A Celtic legend.

THE BATTERED BUNNET on 27TH DECEMBER 2019 6:17 PM
Correct. Not random. But these games seldom unfold as anticipated.
The way things are going they are odds on to win their match in hand at home to Ross County. So in my head we lead by 2 pts, for them to level with us we need to draw a game and them to win. a 2 goal win would be about normal so again in my head we are about level on goals at present.
So after Sunday best case is we will be 5 ahead and if we win by 2 or 3 goals, they count for double and we could be also nicely ahead on goals.
A draw and it’s as we are, the unthinkable and we trail by a point and maybe on goals.
A huge amount at stake no doubt and the next 3 weeks the world will be a happier place if we win, but and it’s a big BUT, the Title will not be won or lost this week-end so we need to keep things in perspective.

Astute post which needs no qualification – sufficient to add that I have never seen a full-back dominate a game the way Tavernier is allowed to – he usually has the whole right-flank at his mercy, marauding up and down at will.
As per your suggestion, I would play Hayes & Bolingoli against him – each can take turns to attack.
Frimpong & Forrest on the right.
Ajer/Julien with Brown & Calmac sitting in front of them.
Christie getting up to support Eddy when we break.
This gives us a solid core, attacking & defending options out wide and two up front when we attack.
This MUST be team:
FORSTER
FRIMPONG
JULLIEN
AJER
BOLINGOLI
FORREST
BROWN
CALMAC
HAYES
CHRISTIE
EDUARD
Plenty on the bench – Ntcham, Rogic, Johnston, Bitton Bauer Griffiths.

Only problem with Amazon is the quality /speed of internet. Watched Leicester Liverpool game last night with my two sons who were visiting .
Viewing on Amazon Prime Fire Stick , the Low D picture was sore on the eye, and occasionally froze.
When the picture stalled leaving Brendan on my screen , Onlooker Jr(2) commented that my” internet was so slow that Rodgers is still managing Celtic ”

That gave me a good laugh.

Apologies, I used amazon prime as an example of a new option, without knowing much about the product, I would much prefer Celtic to be in charge of their own distribution but realise the other teams in the league would oppose that… Sky have got the Spl by the short n curlies and in my opinion are only interested in one fixture and one team (and it’s not us :-)

Next up, the final league game of 2019. The Glasgow Derby at the Home of The Champions! Voting will open around 2.20 on Sunday. But apologies in advance, the results from this particular game won’t be out until tea time on Hogmanay (I have a night out on Monday and working on Tuesday….)
Hail Hail
Oops, my own 3 votes went to Ajer, McGregor, Ntcham
The team that played yesterday will likely start on Sunday and Mikey will probably be the first sub on.
To say this game is huge is an understatement. Win on Sunday and we take a massive step towards 9. We will recruit in January and they will have to sit and watch whilst not having two pennies to rub together. Traditionally we come good in the second half of the season and having won 18 from 20 that will be ominous.
From their perspective a third straight defeat to us will inflict severe psychological damage as well as the pressure of finding themselves 8 points adrift. They will struggle to hold it together imo.
If we lose or draw we live to fight another day. We will strengthen and come again. A defeat for them and their chances of winning the League reduces to long odds.
It has crept cup on us but we have a huge opportunity here to take control of this campaign. It is a blow i believe they would not recover from.
the only we we could ‘God forbid’ lose on Sunday is if our back 4 defend the way they have been lately when the opposition attack us, balls crossed into our box between our giant centre backs not being dealt with, personnel feuds with your direct opponent etc , we could have been punished but for the poor quality of the opposition attack and our goalie.

Euromillions winner and Partick Thistle owner Colin Weir dies aged 71
Its like wading through treacle to make a comment.
If we win on Sunday then I wouldn’t expect much transfer business in January in terms of adding big quality more retaining what we have.
If we lose then the business case for spending changes, they can see the season out and the league stays competitive, which perhaps isn’t a bad thing as at 2 0 up v St Mirren we took foot off the gas.
In effect we can only lose if we take our foot off the business gas.
AULDHEID
Wading through treacle in lower East Kilbride too.
Two new in for sure, then heading for warm weather training to help with the eight.

“I’ve never seen a fullback dominate a game as Tavernier has” lol
That’s my bullshit quote of the season.
Never seen the Lisbon Lions then boy.
What has he won as Captain, apart from your admiration?
Tosh McKinlay used to put in crosses like that every game. And that wasn’t yesterday.

If you’re still on , My height in metres question was about action man , not Boli!–))

Re The Hertz
David66. I don’t think relegating a club because we dislike them is not a good stance.
We need competition. We need a competitive league. We need innovation from the Dickensian regime at Hampden.
I know the chances of forward thinking is as likely as a handsome hun.
However, to survive alongside our southern neighbors we need to think outside the box to attract TV money, new sponsorship and better quality players.
The impression of our game is very poor, when games from the likes of Livingston, Hamilton and Dingwall are screened.
How can we sign premium prospects when their view is influenced by the lasting impression of plastic pitches, 1/2 empty dilapidated stadia and poor officiating?
I hope and pray Paddy has a successful and permanent recovery
Prayers also said for Paddymacoz.
Hope his recovery is as complete as can be.
Melbourne Mick always speaks highly of him and the good deeds he does.
Respect and good wishes to both.
I highly recommend the following video. Makes me swell with pride.
A Decade of Dominance
https://youtu.be/e6Ijsirqmso
i learned a wee while ago,
me picking my team, who should start next, who is better in each position, why my picks are better than the manager and staff that watch them every day, and know how fit our ready, or on form they are,
well, my opinion, like all on cqn , doesnt matter a jot,
neil lennon is paid to get results,
he will again,
