Neil Lennon era ends

1817

Neil Lennon ‘got’ Celtic.  He was a rookie appointment, and the early weeks were far from comfortable, a Hampden defeat to Ross County looked like an ominous early sign, but from the start of his first preseason he didn’t look back.

He was a hugely successful Celtic manager in Scotland and in Europe.  The Barcelona team of the last six years, possibly the greatest team in history, were at their peak when they visited Celtic Park in November 2012. Neil came up with the game plan which brought Celtic victory and raised our profile across Europe.

What he had to endure off-field during his time at Celtic was atrocious and a blight on our society.  But he overcame it.  He stuck it out when you or I may have left, and now he leaves on his own terms – an undisputed winner.

More at another time on who next, but if we get a man nearly as capable we will be doing well.

Take care, Neil.

A time for cheerio Neil and many thanks for being the kind of person you are that met Celtic’s need at a very difficult time of mass backwoodsman support to keep an ailing rival alive.

So so long and thanks for the memories.

A time for hullorrer to whoever gets the job who will no longer have to worry about the nasties suported by the SFA and their msm cohorts, Traynor, Keevins, Guadi, King and of course their conductor Jack Irvine to twist the honest attempts of an honest man.

Moyes sounds like the kind of guy we now need. Great experience and with a point to prove.

  4. Neil Lennon going to Brazil suggests he’s not got another job yet, doesn’t it?

The ultra conservatives on our board would never have a socialist manager ;-)

Could you imagine our Billionaire board members doing time in a Russian jail if they upset him!!

  10. Heard we were linked with French coach Herve Renard earlier but were not willing to pay compensation. However, he has now left Sochaux after taking their almost certain relegation to the final day.

There has been a bit of money on him. 20/1 into 14/1.

I do think he is much better than people give him credit for

Perhaps you’re right, tactics are only one aspect of being Celtic manager.

  12. There are many names in the frame. Of those there are four that seem to be to the fore: Henrik, Malky, Clarke and Moyes. The latter is unlikely as the budget will not be big enough. Of the three, Henrik too risky, Malky great guy and cut a name for himself, Steve Clarke ticks all the boxes.

Question is have any or all four been sounded out recently!

    Keep the Faith!

Surely there would be one almighty outcry of condemnation from the MSM if the manager of the national team deserted mid-term in order to take over at a club side?

Yeah true, but if your heart is rooted, and your family too. what causes you to rip out the roots and go into the unknown?

I would not touch Mr. Moyes with a barge pole, one of the most skilless ( I know it’s not an endorsed word) football players I’ve ever seen pull on a Celtic top. He made Scheidt look like Beckenbaur.

I know what he did at Preston and Everton but in my opinion he has nothing to advance Celtic.

    macjay,

I think we would all like to know the real reasons why, whether we get them is anyone’s guess. I will happily wait until I hear from a reputable source, whatever that is. I would just have liked to go onto a Celtic site and read simply that Neil had left the club.

Regardless, we will wake up on Friday as Celtic men, looking forward to a new manager and dreaming of more glory nights at Celtic Park.

for me, just for me, David Moyes plays football like Walter Smith, only Walter can growl.

Did he walk because the club wouldn’t sack Griffiths?
