Neil Lennon era ends

1817

Neil Lennon ‘got’ Celtic.  He was a rookie appointment, and the early weeks were far from comfortable, a Hampden defeat to Ross County looked like an ominous early sign, but from the start of his first preseason he didn’t look back.

He was a hugely successful Celtic manager in Scotland and in Europe.  The Barcelona team of the last six years, possibly the greatest team in history, were at their peak when they visited Celtic Park in November 2012. Neil came up with the game plan which brought Celtic victory and raised our profile across Europe.

What he had to endure off-field during his time at Celtic was atrocious and a blight on our society.  But he overcame it.  He stuck it out when you or I may have left, and now he leaves on his own terms – an undisputed winner.

More at another time on who next, but if we get a man nearly as capable we will be doing well.

Take care, Neil.

  1. So there’s no chance that the boot room philosophy of succession will now take place at CP.

I had hoped that there would be a natural progression from managing the youth sides to progressing to the first team.

Unfortunately, Johan has resigned, Danny is recovering from illness and Neil’s departure has come too soon to promote the Frail / Kennedy double act.

So we will have a complete turnaround as I expect Neil’s successor to recruit his own team.

Mind you Sir Sweater coached his successor even allowing him to handle some cup games.

How did that work out? Hmmmm.

DD @ 00.52I have my view which at the time was 425 miles away.I have put forward my thoughts that the “Ashton Lane Two” are opportunist, second rate, cheap shot, bush whacking scum.I don’t think they have the skill set to manage any complex, planned undertaking.

Morrissey, thanks for the link. It must have been a cut down version because I didn’t see Waddel say the comments that were attributed to him earlier, nor did I think Frank McGarvey was pished.

The most telling part was Graham Speirs telling us that the Wall has left the club. FFS, that one went under the wire.

    Thanks again bruv.

Singing Detective – if there was no need for the GB, it wouldnt exist….

The GB will be there next year….

What’s the difference between the GB and any other group (of any size) of Celtic Fans who attend the games ?

We’ve had Supporters Buses, gangs in the old Celtic End, the football Specials, teams of mates stoating up the Gallowgate, the Jungle, Casuals, the Business Lounge, Club 67, Cars filled with families.

The GB are just another collection of like-minded CELTIC fans who add more colour, atmosphere and attraction to Celtic Park than any other group of fans or individuals.

NFL and the GB brought back The Thunder.

MadMitch, if two thick bastards from Kilwinnining are capable of mounting a well thought out plan to terrorise Celtic people, what makes you think two educated university types cant?

I’ve no idea about the circumstances of scum types targeting catholics or Celtic people but I don’t think it’s beyond the realm of reality that a couple of well educated huns might just have planned their attack.

You forget how deep their hatred is rooted.

  18. Neil really was a peacemaker, why can’t people really realise this? I Don’t just mean within the Celtic Whole.

I had the misfortune to listen to the disgusting comments, Thursday lunchtime about Neil from my Gaffer (I told him off and he never responded) and loads of other Hibs and Hearts fans in the amenities. See that is what propaganda Press can do. :((((

This World is ready for Peace, it is crying out for it. Unfortunately it isnae gonnae happen, Biblically, the AntiChrist brings Peace, a false Peace.

Coneybhoy, the kilwinning assassins managed to join more than dots. Bombs to NFL, PMcB, yon auld wummin MSP etc showed that they were capable of putting more than hateful thoughts together.

Dumb and dumber they may be but their hours in the toolshed proved they were almost capable of what would have amounted to a terrorist attack.

I should have said earlier. I hope Neil and his Family have a Wonderful and a stress free Life now.

Neil went into the trenches and took all the flak, sometimes, wearisome things like that can do you in, being behind a keyboard is unlikely to give you a proper insight into that.
