Neil Lennon unlikely to have a case to answer

898

The SFA are entitled to ask Neil Lennon to explain his conduct at Ibrox on Sunday but I doubt he has a case to answer.  Neil accepted a warning during the first half from fourth official, Iain Brines, for contesting the decision to send off Cha Du-Ri, Brines did not regard this protest as sufficient to call the over referee.  Neil then spoke to referee Calum Murray at the end of the first half without incident or caution.

Murray clearly did not regard Lennon’s comments as worthy of dismissal from the technical area at that time and was did not call Neil to the referees’ room during the interval.  It was left to fourth official Iain Brines to deliver the news to the Celtic manager that he was ordered from the technical area.

Murray and Brines appear to have let the occasion get the better of them.  A referee must be clear in his mind before ordering a manager from the technical area and must take the correct steps necessary in doing so.  He cannot mutter a statement of intent to caution a manager without actually doing so.

  1. 67Heaven ... I am Neil Lennon..!!..Truth and Justice will always prevail on

I am genuinely flabbergasted that any Celtic fan would criticise NEIL in any way……. Too many of our fans on CQN are Listening to the MSM agenda driven spin…….. These happy (MSM) clappers need to remember the treatment they gave to WGS….

For goodness sake make your own minds up about all things Celtic…..

Paul67’s latest article clearly indicates what should have happened on Sunday……and before anyone says anything…

WE WERE NOT GOING TO GET A LEVEL PLAYING FIELD ON SUNDAY …..NO WAY…..!!!!!!!!!!!!!?…live with it, or stand up to THEM, as NEIL does….!!!

They really cannot stomach our young manager doing well, he will never get the praise he so obviously deserves.

    God bless Neil Lennon.

  3. twists n turns on

    They are still majoritively anti Celtic. Always have been, always will be. Quite clearly, refs will toe the party line or risk their job. It is not just the refs. Hugh Keevins, whom some like to tell me is a Celtic man, and who used to spout the “I have Charle Tully’s cup winner medal” as evidence of his support, clearly recognises it is better to supress your feelings if you want to collect your 30 pieces of silver. Not one journalist in my lifetime has suggested more than Keevins that we are all “paranoid”. He has now added “internet bampot” to his vocabulary. Mr Keevins reads this blog, despite his denials. I know that for sure. He repeated a very specific comment I made on here only 2 weeks ago, almost word for word, on his radio show. So, Mr Keevins, let me ask you to consider this;

If I had called in some years ago and accused the SFA of deliberately delaying the registration of Jorge Cadette, in order to disadvantage Celtic and benefit Rangers, would you have called me paranoid before the truth outed?

If I had called more recently to suggest Dougie McDonald had conspired with other match officials to the detriment of Celtic, would I have been labelled paranoid?

I am comfortable suggesting that on Sunday, the referee and his asst’s were happy to seriously disadvantage the chances of Celtic securing a title on the home ground of the establishment club.

It has been going on for decades and will continue to do so.

The media are no different. Is it not very unusual that Walker, McLeod, Nevin, Nicholas and others are constantly undermining either the team they supported, or the team they played for, knowing how the supporters feel? They are so quickly indoctrinated into following the establishment line it is pitiful.

Honourable and proud ex Celts, and there are thousands, would not last 5 mins in the Scottish media. Tommy Boyd springs to mind. The late great Tommy Burns was another. Proud to wear the hoops, proud to play in front of the hoops support, and still too honourable to consider trading any of that for a payday. I hope Nicholas et al have a portrait of either of those two Tommy’s hanging on their wall to remind them of what a hoops legend looks like. I will be happy to send them a portrait of Neil Lennon as well if they want perhaps the greatest example of what it means to support/play for and ALWAYS RESPECT the name Celtic.

Bloody predictive text man, you know who I’m talking about anyway, you little scamp. Lol

  5. We are constantly berated for having a sense of injustice, being bad losers and much more, all the way to being paranoid. OK…let’s ask this : how many other managers have had bullets sent to them in the post? Been attacked by violent ‘fans’ of other teams? Been forced to retire from international football because of death threats to him and his family? Has had to stand in the dock at the trial of two lunatics who tried to murder him,and others, with parcel bombs?

It’s a wonder he hasn’t emigrated. And on top of all the above,he has to tolerate wildly prejudiced refs,a hun-centric msm and a wholly corrupt SFA.

I couldn’t cope with all that. So,I raise my hat to a great man,a passionate manager and one of our finest icons. And…he’s taking us to a well deserved league championship. He deserves our unqualified support for his fortitude and for still standing up for the Celtic cause. HH!

  6. BRTH @ 12:23 – your usual high standard of post. Very fair and honest appraisal of Neil too, although I do think he has learned to count to 10, albeit on some occasions he might only get to 3, it’s understandable. I’m sure we’d all rather an honest manager like him than a snake like the former question of sport captain.

  7. Hamiltontim. If I’m not too late I’ll nominate Joe Ledley and big Fraser.

My lurking colleague will go for Adam and Tony.

    Back to work…..

    Jobo

  8. Sorry Bhoys! But Brines intimidating Lennon! Manhandling Lennon! Is laughable!

That weasel doesn´t have the backbone or stones.

Brines conspiring with Murray and sending Lennon off behind his back and refusing to explain the decision to his face, now that I do believe!

  9. After the shame games last season where 3 Rangers players were sent off…both Celtic & Rangers were brought into the spotlight for special attention by the Police, Scottish government & SPL. Now we have a game where another 3 players were sent off, also a manager….yet no similar outcry ??

Do they not want the public scrutiny, do they not want a close inspection of the FACTS or do they have something to hide. Nothing has changed from last season for me, so BOTH clubs should again be called to question to answer the reasons for such an outcome. I think it would be both enlightening & very interesting to hear the views of ALL parties concerned when placed in the public view and not simply hiding behind closed doors.

  10. Just seen a pic of ‘fourth official Iain Brines talks to Lenny’ from Phil Mac’s site.

It would appear that the picture editor dropped the word ‘down’ from the caption.

  11. Celtic’s performances have gone slightly off the boil since the trial of the alleged mail bombers began, just as MON’s bhoys struggled for consistency in light of Mrs MON’s illness and Strach’s team couldn’t quite get over the line when it was known to them that he would be resigning at the end of the season.

All it proves is that these three great, great Celtic men are human and subject to the same external pressures as you or me. I love them all the more for it.

Some of the comments from fellow Celtic fans in light of Sunday are depressing. I back Neil Francis Lennon 100%.

Uncle shugg. “Second half strikes by Andrew Little and Lee Wallace were confirmation of Rangers superiority” Aye right shugg. I think Celtic were down to 9 men then. 9 v 12 oops make that 9 v 13 forgot abt the ref assistant flagging Stokes offside when he was 2 yds on and didnt flag thems 2nd goal offside!!

    HaiL HaiL.

  19. I checked istructions for the Polish referees.

These instructions are clear and say that coaches and other coaching stuff can be send to the stands only if during the game they suggest biased refereeng, instructin means corruption. Instruction gives example ” Can the coach be suspended for shouting to the referee : F@@k, for who you are refeering? The answer is, No, the referee can’t send that coach on the stands but should write about the accident in the post match protocol.

Instruction says that in some cases the coach or another man can be send on the stands if he clearly not controls his actions, fe. kicks the seats, pushes other people, does not want to come back to technical area, winds up the crowd.

In other cases, when necessery the referee should speak to said coach after first half. Referee observer is obliged to arrange that meeting before second half starts.

This season 368 games were played in the Polish league I none of the coaches were banned. No disciplinary meeting with the coaches.

I find it unacceptable that people from SFA are sending the news to your newspapers and tell them that Neil Lennon is guilty of something not specified yet, but guilty. Crazy stuff.

  22. If the Government intervene are not all Scottish Clubs and the National team suspended from competition? Why would we not want SPL clubs being scrutinised? Paul67 another article required I think.

SPL clubs have to get their house in order very quickly – or the Government might be encouraged to intervene.

That’s the shock warning today from the chairman of the SPL, Ralph Topping.

It comes as the Gang of Ten are embroiled in a power struggle with the Old Firm.

The proposal to alter the 11-1 voting structure is at the root of this, but Topping reminded the clubs pushing for change they voted for this in the first place.

Now he is calling for all the chairmen to settle their differences to prevent any more damage being done to the reputation of the SPL as they look for a new sponsor.

Topping said: “There’s a hell of a lot of emotion being brought out and old scores being settled. That adds to the negativity towards the game.

“The last thing we want is the Government saying we are going to sort this out, we are coming in and we are going to do an investigation.

“The last thing you want is that degree of scrutiny.”

ht : POTY – Joe and Charlie in that order. The reason it’s been so noticable that Joe has been poor during the last two games is due to the standard he’s maintained prior to that and since the start of the season.

Both players have been very consistent and adaptable, which is somethimes overlooked.
