Neil Lennon unlikely to have a case to answer

898

The SFA are entitled to ask Neil Lennon to explain his conduct at Ibrox on Sunday but I doubt he has a case to answer.  Neil accepted a warning during the first half from fourth official, Iain Brines, for contesting the decision to send off Cha Du-Ri, Brines did not regard this protest as sufficient to call the over referee.  Neil then spoke to referee Calum Murray at the end of the first half without incident or caution.

Murray clearly did not regard Lennon’s comments as worthy of dismissal from the technical area at that time and was did not call Neil to the referees’ room during the interval.  It was left to fourth official Iain Brines to deliver the news to the Celtic manager that he was ordered from the technical area.

Murray and Brines appear to have let the occasion get the better of them.  A referee must be clear in his mind before ordering a manager from the technical area and must take the correct steps necessary in doing so.  He cannot mutter a statement of intent to caution a manager without actually doing so.

    Dear all,

let me make something ever so slightly clear– when I refer to Neil counting to ten, I specifically mean in the press conferences. In the main he does that and to be honest I am more for him highlighting certain facts– although I have no doubt some will counsel against what I am about to suggest.

We all know that at interview time, the questioning can be.. eh…. inquisitive and designed to get a response which makes for good copy and TV.

So give them good copy and TV.

If Neil does not agree with the referees or the fourth officials version of events the he should very calmly say so. “I don’t thik they are correct, I don’t think they are right, and I sought clarification. On another occasion I sought clarification after a lapse of time, and was lied to by officials. That has an effect– so I know seek clarification as early as possible every time. If people don’t think I should do that I can understand, but at the same time had I asked for clarification at the earliest stage possible on that other occasion then there would have been no opportunity for other people to have gotten a story together and maybe I would have been told the truth……. and maybe then some peple would still be refereeing today! So now I ask right away….. I am more than happy to explain all of that to the SFA at any hearing.”

Count to Ten….. and count ’em out for ten!

It was good to see Billy Bunter use all his experience of working in front of the television cameras to perform his set peice in the tunnel at the end of the match on Sunday.

At least there will be a lasting positive image of Bunter now as Huns manager, as there will never be footage of him celebrating with any trophies.

  3. jude2005

watched a bit of that. Wonder if our players had reacted the way the huns reacted after Bougherra’s sending off, what would be said in the papers now? I also wonder how many of ours would have been booked or sent off too. Edu could clearly be seen adopting an aggresive attitude towards Brines (I think) as he left the picture. (6.47)

Brines body language was very telling at the end. He placed himself between opposing management teams with back to Rangers in a protective stance while then moving forward aggresively towards Celtic mgmt after situation was diffused. Didn’t look like the actions of someone who should have been impartial.

I will not countenance the merest hint of criticism of Neil Lennon for his behaviour towards match officials.

    1) Doogie Doogie – lied to by the referee, a lie which was the subject of an elaborate attempted cover-up.

    2) The constant depiction in the press as a snarling thug.

    3) Bombs and bullets in the post, for which I consider the coverage of Neil in the press bears some no small responsibility.

    4) The Tynecastle assault, and the Alabama jury that let his assailant off with a breach of the peace.

    5) The lack of support for our manager from his so-called peers in the management game (with the honourable exception of Kenny Shiels).

Neil Lennon has spent the majority of his time as Celtic manager under intolerable pressure, from all angles. He has been lied to, threatened, assaulted and had attempts made on his life, all to a backdrop of media-led vilification and sleekit wind-ups from the Huns.

Every time Neil Lennon’s words are reported in the press, he has, “ranted,” or, “raged,” about something or other. Every accompanying photo shows him shouting from the sidelines and this is presented as his default behaviour/attitude. It is a carefully constructed image and when The Scotsman today reports that “even people with no axe to grind have formed a negative impression of him,” you have to ask yourself is it any wonder, given how they constantly report him?

I absolutely refuse to accept that Lenny is an any way to blame for the situation he finds himself in, or that he has in any way contributed to it, or that he can do anything short of leaving Scotland forever to make himself acceptable to our enemies. And that is what they are – our enemies.

I’m not giving an inch in my defence of our manager Neil Lennon, and anyone who does only serves to encourage the anti-Irish, anti-Catholic, anti-Celtic bile that inspires the attacks upon him.

Scotland’s Shame is that it cannot abide the thought of Neil Lennon being a successful Celt. I’m doing nothing to let them think they might have even the slightest justification for the way Neil Lennon is being persecuted in this small-minded cesspit of a country.

The guy who organized, managed and implemented Juve’s systematic corruption of Referees , Linesmen and the Media , Luciano Moggi , was caught on tape stating that Rosetti and Collina were ” way too objective “.

He was also caught on a phone tap instructing someone [unknown] to ” punish Rosetti and Collina ”

Juve have suffered from some shocking decisions this season . They have complained that they are being systematically cheated .

  9. The only criticism that can be attached to Neil for Sunday is him perhaps being too conservative with his lineup.

Any fan criticising Neil for his behaviour needs to look at themselves.

  10. Guys, if brines is a currant bun, he came to it late. He is more along the lines of forelock tugging collum , likes the way his bread is buttered etc. Just saying, because claiming he is an uber currant is incorrect. He definitely likes the dough and the plastic school master toughness his wee hobby gives him.

I heard something but not too much.

Both guys found posts in the East becouse in these countries supporters were telling about favours given to those clubs who were run by rich oligarchs. The richer clubs were getting better decisions from the referees.

Looked as if he was very concerned about sally more than anything else. Remember him V Aberdeen in the 4 each game? Shocking refereeing!!

It all started with Fortunie getting kicked in the chest and he gives Dons a F K. I take it you know the rest??!!

  14. Watching the “shame game” again reminds you of just how corrupt Scottish football is. Bougherra grabs the referee’s arm and lowers it when he shows a second yellow to Whittaker. He does the same thing when the referee shows him a second yellow. And yet Bougherra did not serve any suspension whatsoever.

That was certainly one the reasons why there was a summit – to draw attention away from the unprecedented behaviour of the Rangers players. Not that it seemed to bother Calum Murray, however. And in the end only one man was suspended. Guess who.

I am still waiting for a summit to be announced after Sunday’s game. Or didn’t the Celtic players or Neil Lennon manhandle the officials when the Celtic players were red-carded?

  15. Have the two ‘accused’ been acquitted yet? What’s taking so long?

Meanwhile, in this little country, Neil is Adolf Hitler and Ally is Mother Theresa. OK, I took that a bit too far but you know what I mean. :0)

Juve have been on the receiving end of some jaw dropping ” honest mistakes ” this season. They have complained and complained and complained again.

“Nothing so much undermines public confidence in public institutions as the knowledge that some public servants are members of a secret society one of whose aims is mutual self-advancement”.

That was actually the conclusion of the Commons Affairs Committee in 1997 following investigation into the role of freemasonry in the Justice system. It seems to me we have long since reached past that point concerning football referees in Scotland. Let us be clear about what we are saying, or at least what I am saying, Scottish referees are open to more influences than that which they see, or hear over the course of a football match. The match officials at Ibrox on Sunday acted in concert and, make no bones about it, in secret, in their dealing with our manager, Neil Lennon. Our Manager. The Celtic Manager. They have acted in a masonic fashion, the end result of which, by design or effect, was to undermine our efforts in the second half of a game in which we were behind by one goal. It is not Neil Lennon who needs to be brought to book, it is once again those trusted ( I use that word advisedly) to officiate football fairly and consistently, according to the Laws Of the Game. If Scottish referees are either unwilling or unable to do that then we need, once again, to make it very clear to them, that we will find someone who can.

Thank you all for taking part in what after all was only intended as a bit of fun :-)

I’ve made each tally as a percentage of the total number of votes cast as opposed to the number of people who voted.

    The results are as follows:-

    Stokes 1.9%

    Mulgrew 23.6%

    Foster 18.1%

    Rogne 0.9%

    Wanyama 4.2%

    Kayal 0.5%

    Ledley 12.9%

    Brown 16.2%

    Forrest 2.7%

    Samaras 18.5%

So in first place with 23.6% of the vote is Charlie Mulgrew and in second place with 18.5% is our own Greek God, Super Sammi.

    It Is Time For Disclosure

So once again the Scottish refereeing fraternity go after our manager for him having the temerity to request an official explain his selective decisions which tend to favour only one team.

It is obvious the disciples of Dallas are alive and thriving.

Not only are they thriving it is obvious they are comfortable in the knowledge they are untouchable.

Big decisions are being made and big decisions are consistently and contentiously going against Celtic.

Scottish Football is rotten to the core and corruption is rife everywhere you look and none more so than with the band of brothers who masquerade as match officials.

It is time for us to demand if these MIB share anything more than simply being detestable cheating individuals with an agenda.

It is time for us to demand disclosures be made of officials if they subscribe to any common craft/membership out-with football and what that may be if such a thing is evident.

This is a reasonable request knowing full well the proven historical conspiracy, collusion, lies and bias against our club by officials within Scottish Football.

Transparency begins with disclosure. Ask the question Celtic

What Brines and Murray did is equivalent of a player saying something to the ref then 10 minutes later the ref deciding “right, I’m sending him off”. It can’t be done.

It would be very interesting to know who the two of them spoke to in that 10 mins and what was said. If the decision initially was not to send him off, what happened to change that?
