Neil’s back, Anthony’s off

454

Best wishes to Neil Lennon is his new role as Hibernian manager. Without wanting to be impolite about Alan Stubbs, Hibs have traded-up in getting a manager of international repute and experience at the highest level of the game.

Neil is a talented coach who got unlikely results across his Celtic career. He’ll bring Hibs up next season and establish a platform to rebuild the club.

Best wishes too to fellow Irishman Anthony Stokes, who left the club yesterday six years after joining from Hibs. The best of Anthony was there for all to see at the Scottish Cup final. He’s still only 27 and, should he find the appetite, he should still have a few good years in the game. His Celtic ‘thing’ finished years ago.

Celtic legend, Charlie Gallagher, will be signing copies of his autobiography at Waterstons, East Kilbride, this Saturday (11th) from 2pm, and 2pm the following Saturday (18th) at Waterstones, Braehead. Get along to see him!

Good luck to all involved in the Green Brigade Anti-discrimination tournament at James McGrory Park on Saturday. If you’re not in East Kilbride, get along.

  1. The London Evening Standard has a big circulation and is a free paper so relies on its advertising revenues. Plenty of influencial readers.

  2. I’ve no wish to indulge in Politics on CQN (and never have) – however I thought this a pertinent clip posted on the JJ site by HPB.

How about placing an ad in the Daily Planet?

Their journalist, Clark Kent has previously championed the side of good and right against bad.

In his guise as Superman, he could also, as someone suggested earlier, fly over the opening match of Euro 16, towing a banner.

He might even be able to penetrate CC Kings’ invisible, invulnerability shield. ;)

Good move for Neil Lennon, and for Hibs, no doubt there will be a clamour in the SPL and the Scottish Press about restructuring the leagues, and including the likes of the Hibees, Falkirk and Dundee United. Or maybe not.

Best wishes to Anthony Stokes in his footballing future, long been a fan of his. But lets be honest Stokesy has been blackballed by Celtic, Muirfield style! Still the Hibs Cup Final will live long in the memory, as will our last Scottish Cup win in 2013, Hooper’s swansong with Stokes making the goals.

have to say, looking at the interactive stadium seat plan, i am absolutely astounded of fore-head about the season ticket uptake.

    quite astonishing.

so, now its only the back row rubbish seats behind poles that are available, there is surely an opporchancity for opening up the top deck of the lisbon lions for season book sale.

Open it up a section at a time ………… and as each sells out, reduce the allocation of seats that will be given to new club 12 sevco 2nd rangers.

better to sell to our own for 19 games, than to that mob for 2.

and who cares about them reducing a return allocation.

I read that it was directed at the then banks, at the time there was a set of regulations that prohibited the banks specifically the FED using their position to dictate govt economic policy, after Kennedy’s death Johnson immediately removed those regulations.

I read the Guardian regularly and I would find it hard to believe they are part of any conspiracy.

The paper view of Scottish fitba is that of a sporting backwater. They have absolutely no interest in it and they couldn’t be bothered with the grief associated with 5k of advertising revenue.

    ———————————————-

IMHO: just because the Guardian uses big words and has a high proportion of well educated readers doesn’t mean that they are different from the rest.

Leaflet campaigns at Celtic Park were an effective tool for awareness and I would suggest very beneficial for the Bringing Martin Home and Wee Oscar 4 Life campaigns, where we distributed 10,000 leaflets with an almost 100% non- drop rate ( or whatever it is called). The internet is still a bubble to a certain extent, so thsi was necssary at the time to get the message out there to the masses

I wonder if Celtic would accept an advert on the big screens and Celtic View/Programme, Celtic TV etc for £5,000? :-)

Another 48 hours is not a film involving Eddie Murphy, but an infinite period of time that continues to roll forward awaiting a big brave statement from plc.

Again, a salute to all the hard work of the Res12 bhoys and WC ( excluding his contribution on the CQN 5s pitch), but the tail continues to wag the (sleeping or very slow) dog on this one.

I feel that the issue is that virtually no-one in the ” outside world ” gives a damn about Scottish football.

Why would they ? We don`t matter.

All the others ,England , Wales , N.I. , and Ireland ,qualified for the upcoming Euros.

That`s barely credible for one of my generation.

    And shameful.

If ever there was an indictment of the Scottish football authorities ,then this is it.

We have been focussed on the ” Celtic / S.F.A. ” issue.

We should have been focussed on the monumental failure of the S.F.A. to preside over a team which plays any part in the upper echelons of European football.

    How the mighty have fallen.

Surely this disappointment is shared by the supporters of all other Scottish football teams .

Celtic ,with Brendan at the helm , can be at the forefront of a Scottish football revival .

We need to breach the parapets of the S.F.A. and it`s cosy masonic culture of mateship.

    Believe.

So – @Channel4News has asked the Guardian why it declined to run the advert placed by Scottish fans…

Guardian spokesman said:” All adverts submitted for publication are considered on a case-by-case basis…”

I’ve no wish to expand on or get into the theory (conspiracy) due to my lack of knowledge/study of JFK speeches at that time. As a teenager – I thought then he was a powerful orator and like many of my peers hoped he was the type of person that would stabilize the crazy world I was growing up in.

    Hey! What did I know?

I felt the speech loosely inferred ‘Control of Information’ and by default what was presented as fact (policy) by a compliant Press and Media.

50+ years on and his words still ring true!

  24. Just an observation but why bother with a second advert?

I mean if a statement from Celtic is imminent then surely this will be reported far & wide? Maybe The Guardian knocking it back should be seen as a blessing in disguise & any money earmarked can now be appointed elsewhere?

  25. MACJAY1

See Canamalar’s post to me and my reply.

I researched a little further and Canamalar’s interpretation is the more likely theme – I believe it’s an extract from a 20mins speech JFK gave on 27th April 1961 (just after the Bay of Pigs fiasco).

I don’t intend to get into the specifics of a time when I had just become a teenager – I thought the ‘clip’ (in its edited version) resonates when applied to today’s MSM.

I will leave it at that – politics is not my forte!

Macjays interpretation can be taken as correct, however not by his usual reds under the bed target, this was far more sinister and dangerous than political enrtyism this was the death of democracy.

I have to laugh at macjays reds under the bed paranoia especially when you just need to look around the world and see how it’s developed under extreme capitalism, his constant references to Stalin and the 20M murdered, when the empire he is so proud of are/were responsible to 240M murders in the name of freedom and civilisation, an utter clown that should be viewed with contempt for the dangerous lies he spreads.
