It wouldn’t be Hearts without Robbie Nielson deflecting responsibility for his team’s defeat to Celtic. Hearts are a more talented side then their solitary (off target) attempt on goal suggests. Early in the second half they pressed the champions out of their stride, but their game objective was clear to see: spoil, delay and take one for the team whenever Celtic threaten to break.
We saw things from Hearts yesterday I have never seen on a football field before. With Joe Hart ready to take a goal kick, Liam Boyce ran towards him, picked up and threw the ball away. Every Hearts player was behind the ball!
Slowing play down is a legitimate tactic, taking it to this extreme is asking for and surely accepting a yellow card. The same can be said for pulling players back when they are breaking with possession. After an away game in Switzerland on Thursday, Hearts players were frustrated and tired by the closing stages at Celtic Park.
Either Heats players took it upon themselves to wantonly pull Celtic players down and time waste by throwing balls away, which we all know is not the case, or Neilson sent them out to do just this. It is his responsibility that two players picked up second yellows late in the game. Any suggestion otherwise is just deflection, a tactic Neilson regularly uses.
On a more disturbing topic. There is an unhealthy undertone to the criticism of two referees over the weekend. To be clear, Robbie Neilson’s words had no such intent, but loose words from the Hearts manager can have real life consequences.
Anyway, great to see Celtic clear at the top of the table. There is a very long way to go and I don’t feel we are ready yet to be assured of the title. That picture will be a whole lot clearer two weeks from now.

Almost 60 emails in now and a real spread of votes with 6 different players pretty close at the top. With still over 7 hours to go there’s loads of time left for all lurkers, next door neighbours and distant cousins to join in…

Sutton was funny on 909 last night, him and savage.
they talked about the sending off in england that was overturned when the ref reviewed on the screen
savage says it was very similar to lunstrum, do you think chris this would also be overturned in scotland if the ref reviews with var.

HH.
Moan all they like about the Red Cards, don’t care what the outcome is either. The damage is done. They dropped 2 points to a very poor Hibs team, and we are now clear at the top.
A brilliant weekend.
Extremely rare for any two incidents to be the same, in applying the rules the arbiter should just adjudicate the event which has happened in real time, he is assisted by two assistant referees and a fourth official all of whom are miked up, and the cost to the home club is approx 2 grand, for the two grand you just want fairness
Today Willie Collum is being demolished by SKY, BBC, Brit nat red tops, if you want a gig in this world you toe the line ask Michael Stewart, no colleagues coming to Collums defense, no talk of a strike, and no one from the SFA or referees association explaining the rules of the game to mitigate on Collums behalf or even just offer the beleaguered whistler any support, that’s what all the other referees will take from it, Sevco are protected, give the dodgy pens and no red cards, if you want to get ahead
Of course 4 games in Celtic 2 pts clear at the top of the league…… cue panic………. gaslighting
Approaching the last week, when the window heats up. I expect, after last season that there is an eye (as it has been all summer) to the CCV & Jota type last minute ‘Loan to buy’ market at the right deal for us. ECL offering will be available too.
Squad at 30. Keepers, full backs and Centre Halves alll probably done and dusted.
Shoogly peg for Ajeti, Johnston, Julien, Robertson, McCarthy, Shaw. Dane Murray long term injured. Be good if we found homes for them this week.
Hava on his way, cover at RW and LW looks good. Balance in centre needs a tweak. Think we still covet Michut or even a leftfield Ross Barkley type. Ideally maxing out at about 26 core players.
Succession planning for a possible 2023 summer of outgoings in mind too.

Re Matt McGinn,
In the early sixties Matt played Carnegie Hall at the invitation of Pete Seeger,he received his biggest fee of $200,considerably more on the night than an upcoming young Robert Zimmerman($60) who sought his advice on touring the UK,Bob Dylan took his advice.

Can I just mention that The Jeely Piece song (aka the Skyscraper Wean) was written by Adam McNaughton, not Matt McGinn, though both performed it.
All Collum has to do, and we all know he’s rotten as a ref, is to ask if hes being singled out for merely being employed in a Catholic School (he could simply say for where he works) as there are millions of evidence of lack of consistency which go unchallenged by Triggers Broom. Sky, BBC and red tops, along with the Police, are responsible for the continued anti irish catholic heritage racism that exists.
He doesnt have to claim anything just simply ask the question! Id put it out there.
but then again its in orcs dna to blame everyone else when they dont get things their own way
I thought, like St Stivs was alluding to, that the tackle from behind had been outlawed.
By the way, imo, the most serious “tackles” over the weekend were the ones up in Dingwall.
Biggest anachronism in the laws of fitba is the throw-in or “shy” – designed to actually reward a team for kicking it into Row Z by turning the next phase of possession into a lottery.
Throw-in should be similar to an uncontested drop ball with no defenders within 5 metres. If a team decides to go for a long throw then it would be legitimate for defenders to compete for possession.
Tim- the linesmen should have a tin of foam like the referee, the amount of yards stolen at throw ins is ridiculous, mark where the ball went out…..
We win our next two league games and PSV win their next game and it’s an early season crisis at Ibrox. We all know how they don’t like pressure.
Anyways,
as it stands, Celtic have the most points 12, are two point clear with a goal difference of 4, , from 4 straight wins with 3 clean sheets.
Kyogo is the joint top scorer in the league.
Jota has the most assists.
Jota and Turnbull have made the most chances in the league with 8 a piece.
That is what a favourable SPL rigged computer does, giving celtic easy fixtures.
But let me tell you this bhoy, thats all about to change.
Celtic go to an inform dundee united next sunday and will drop points because Rangers will beat ross country at home by 4 or 5 or 6, with only a couple of penalties being given and that means celtic buckle under the pressure, blinking first and the longest.
We then move onto the championship winning decider game at the girodome, were the might rangers should run out easy winners against the wrongly registered japanese team. 3 or 4 nil.
Top of the leage and game over, read it and weep.
Biggest game in PSV’s history coming up – at least, since I started supporting them about ten days ago.
Last tuppence of mine on Squeaky’s red card on Saturday.
I’ll await the outcome of the appeal with interest.
To be fair, based on SFA’s current MO ….
…. unacceptable levels of thuggery accepted with only the occasional appropriate decision outliers ….
… could have been either RED or yellow.
On that basis, Mr Collum did nothing wrong.
Who the SFA back will be a barometer.
Sevco launched a disgraceful and totally unprecedented public attack on this SFA employee previously.
Their punishment?
A fine comparable to a day’s pay for Connor Goldson !

Robbie Nielson was full of praise for his players yesterday, who didn’t register a single shot on target, if you are manager of Celtic thats almost a sacking offence. Viva le difference.

Not like you not to read back.
Apart from the ‘penalties’ at Easter Road the only talk about refereeing from the weekend should be about David Munro letting the Ross County thugs away with absolutely horrendous, career threatening assaults on Kilmarnock players.
I would guess they have been told by UEFA that the displaying of stars is only for member clubs that have won the Big Club.
Would never receive attention in Scotland
Anyway, they have just been put in the top ten clubs in the world by some,Beano publication. Some reward for winning 8 European games of of 25,and a Scottish Cup.

Don’t know what happened there!
The only referee who should be under the spotlight today is David Munro. He is the official who decided that Ross County’s habitual thug, Ross Callachan, warranted only a yellow for his high speed two footed assault on Killie’s Ryan Alebiousu. After the assault, Callachan was mouthing off at someone and needed to be dragged away by a teammate.
If Malky Mackay had an ounce of decency he would immediately have withdrawn Callachan. He didn’t, and allowed the thug to continue until the inevitable red.
I just hope , for the wellbeing of Celtic players, Callachan is still suspended when we head up there next week.

is that quiz only for MAD mITCH ?
LOL

Scary stuff
Sitting here reading about the mitb and how they seem to favour the forces of the crown, now of course the craft plays a big role and also there are those black mass vestment wearers like cheaton and madhun who never hide their love for them or their disdain for us and with the latter, who it seems was the worshipful bassa for them, bailing out for allegedly marital cheatin that’s at least one less to worry about.
Now my view on the others and this is only based of what I think and see being over here for almost 50 years is that money plays a bigger role in their decisions, as for the likes of the former RK teacher and the nephew of the former parish priest at St Kessogs and St Michaels IMHO that definitely applies
They are no different again IMHO than those Ben Afflecks who join the craft tae get a better standing in life as do the majority of 3rd degree members no matter what their faith is, if they have any, as our Blessed Lord once said “For what shall it profit a man, if he gain the whole world, and suffer the loss of his own soul”
However, they were quite happy to play along with the game as it gave them a good wee gig for which they were well paid and also access tae the European but ironically not WC big penny, through the bonkle bigot.
Now VAR is coming this may all change and they have to as much as possible play to the rules although this may change again depending what ludge or bowling club, nae difference really, gets that gig.

Just finished watching a re-run of the game on Celtic TV – here’s my twopence worth :-
1. It looked like Hearts main tactic at the start of the game was to fire high balls at Jenz : I think he coped well and overall had a very good game (notwithstanding his second half shot LOL)
2. Although there were one or two misplaced Celtic passes in the first period of the second half (eg an intercepted Turnbull pass) , it would be churlish not to praise Hearts for their harder press . Indeed , we should expect this in other SPFL games .
3. Regarding the offsides given against Celtic , they all looked marginal : I’m just a bit perplexed that none of these marginal offsides were called in Celtic’s favour .
Players not on the list
Jimmy Delaney
Virgil Van Dyk
Henrik
Frank McGarvey
