Ajax sit top of the Dutch Eredivisie, ahead of fourth-placed PSV, who picked up three points in the Champions League last night. Four wins and a draw, away to Twente on Saturday, is a near-perfect start to the domestic campaign, although that was only Twente’s second point of the season, if that provides a glimmer of hope.
Form has been less convincing in Europe. An honourable 2-2 draw away to Rapid Vienna was made meaningless by a 2-3 defeat in Amsterdam in the Champions League qualifiers. Ajax then endured a tense two-leg Europa League qualifier against Czechs, Jablonec, which ended in a 1-0 aggregate win. Not that we should be dismissive of anyone on European form.
What will give Ronny Deila room for some encouragement is who Ajax have faced so far in the league. AZ (13th placed), Willem II (15th), NEC (10th) ADO Den Haag (12th), before dropping those points to Twente (16th). All they can do is beat the teams before them, but they will not have been stretched domestically. Even Jablonec are struggling in 6th place in the Czech league. Celtic should be able to provide a test at a higher tempo.
By any measure, Celtic are not without their problems. We’ve not kept a home clean sheet since the opening day of the league campaign against Ross County, and we’ve won only one of our last four away games – and that was against Dundee United who lost four on the bounce. But there’s three points to play for tomorrow, and I doubt either team are taking them for granted.

I am assuming that this letter is a hoax but find it somewhat disconcerting that the club as yet have not clarified this.If John Paul Taylor indeed said what is attributed to him as a joke he does not have a very good grasp of reality.I still believe its a hoax.
I actually think it’s quite a poor reflection on opinion of the club and it’s operations that so many believe they would send out a letter like that.

I was talking of how we in the UK are influenced linguistically by exposure to American expressions.

I know exactly what you mean.
But it ain`t ( ?) gonna(?) change any time soon.
We speak English.
Imagine how les autres feel.
Conversation about football with young Japanese people…
Derriboru ……means?
Konnakiku…..means?
Phonetic spellings,of course.
Huge laughs to be had.

is that a Freudian slip ;-)
Can’t speak for others, but would imagine fewer comments might be to do with constantly getting logged out and having to log back in again.
Noticed Mr DeBoar has a plan for Ajax to get through the groups.
He feels 12 points is enough, that’s 9 points at home and 3 away.
Interesting, if he is already counting the points @ the ArenA tonight as in the bag. And Celtic go there with something to prove, it could be a shock result.
Ajax 1:2 Celtic

RtRev David Hay,
I had to go back and look! Sorry about that !!
Anyway, where can I read what you read re Res12 ?
o:-))

If I don’t log on it’s because of the in-fighting or right wing rhetoric, which is worse than the Telegraph at times. Or on the night of a defeat, where the blog is best left alone.
Still the best celtic blog. I like etims, KDS a bit dull at times.
Has anyone looked at JPT twitter feed over the last day or 2 ? The guy has been pretty busy liaising with supporters, police, Ajax and the Dutch authorities. He’s even managed to get an exclusive metro train for Celtic supporters going to the game. He’s out there doing his job, communicating with the fans and trying to keep them safe. But hey, that doesn’t suit the agenda so lets bash the guy online when he’s up to eyes in helping keep our supporters safe in a dangerous environment….trolls..

English language hegemony ya bas.
Derriboru ……means? ……..Dribble
Konnakiku…..means?……….Corner Kick.
And that`s just the start.

Celtic FC SLO, his twitter page. A number of fans have asked for a simple yes or no on this, and have been told to send an email for the ‘full story’.

He states that it’s to reduce the already unwarranted attention the story has had.
I wonder if at least part of it was to see which journos would run with it without contacting the club properly. I seem to recall Fergus did something similar in the past.
Trad88
Thanks. This all seems rather strange.
JJ
I know what you ghuys are saying about Janko, and as we’re up against a young team fighting fire with fire could bring us dividends. But we’ve been so hit and miss recently and we have a debutant at CH, we need to go with our experienced players in their proven positions…
Listing–Boyata–Sinunovic–Izzy
—————–Brown–Bitton————-
I know Boyata is fairly new and we’ve yet to see his best, but under the circumstances the best option IMO, of course.

Well that would have been extremely stupid, the negative PR does a lot of damage and what would the point of that been anyway? To ban all the German, Australian, Spanish news outlets who ran with the story?

Thanks for that. It a good read and puts the issue in a simplistic fashion . Usually the method adopted when telling the truth.

Our club, and more importantly our supporters are being ridiculed by this nonsense, to say its not been handled that well is putting it lightly.
Anyway, we’ve more important matters to worry about tonight. Praying for a result and hoping our support look out for themselves.

Is the smelly letter really that big a deal.
Heyzeus if you canny laugh at yourself then you shouldny be laughing at others.
True or not 1 letter aimed at one fan who has BO or Halitosis (which I’m lead to believe was the problem), is hardly going to kill us.
Imagine if Huns did that. They’d all be turning looking at themselves thinking none of us smell – that’s because its difficult to smell smells you are used to smelling and they guys were all born that way.
I’m more worried about a wee fitty game tonight to e going raj aboout a wee daft letter.
On that. I am quitely confident there will be a result tonight. We’ll either win lose or draw. I think I have this malarky game sussed now.
We don’t care anyway.
MWD said AYE COYBIG and a big surprise from the Bhoys in Green would be good. 7-0 to the hoops.
traditionalist88 on 17th September 2015 11:56 am
As I said earlier it reflects badly on the club that so many believed it might be true in the 1st place.
If you were JPT and you’re starting from the basis that nobody could really be taking it seriously then his ‘exclusively reveal’ tweet probably seemed like a light-hearted way of dismissing it.
I note when the tabloids picked up on his tweet as confirmation, they failed to include his quote marks.
A hard lesson learned all round I think.
If anybody jibes me about it, i’ll be responding with ‘only an idiot would believe that letter was real’ or words to that effect.
Funny smell in here this morning…have you guys washed?
Just catching up with the comments from earlier re the new format.
In the last 30 days CQN has had 201,927 users. For the same period in 2014 the figure was 132,117 and this was actually very high as the referendum resulted in an increase in traffic. For most of the time in past year or so the old format had around 105k users per month.
Yesterday 15,186 people visited CQN. On Tuesday 16th September 2014 – the number of visitors was 10,283.
On Monday 31st August CQN had its highest ever daily audience when 37,573 people visited the site. On the same day in 2014 the number was 20,020.
Re the Celtic content on the site outwith the blog. Extremely disappointed to read the click bait/ Danny Wilson comment. It is Celtic quick news.
Happy to assist with any queries and welcome any suggestions re improving your experience in using CQN. Email david@cqnpublishing.co.uk or contact Paul.
Coolmore,
To his credit, Paul 67 allows different opinions to be expressed on the blog. In my opinion, despite what the blog police may think, the blog is enhanced by diverse opinions.

If a mistake has been made it is to underestimate the malevolence of some who wish nothing but ill will to Celtic.
I read the JPT Tweet but the sublety, whilst perhaps appreciated by those used to the West of Scotland media , would be lost on those thinking they had something to use against Celtic or just ignorant of local media culture.
As another poster said JPT is busy trying to make sure our supporters do not get messed around like last time in Amsterdam and if folk criticising the SLO think that is less important than investigating something that he was probably unsighted on then I suggest they have a rethink.
If it is a hoax what an opportunity to put those who carried the story in their place.
Where Celtic need to up their game off field is their PR. It really needs to become much more aggressive in terms if litigation and a bit of dirt sowing as well.
Problem in Scotland is finding the media who are ready to put such stuff out there.
MWD at 12:01
The best response yet to the letter. Made me laugh. Keep up the good work.
Hardly ever post on here now, place is hoaching wi huns, trolls and various other random nutters.
C’mon Celtic, still remember a great night with Sutton and Didier running riot, same again please.

Totally agree and as I’ve been saying the fact that so many fans believed this might be true shows that the club still have a lot to do with it’s communications to the fans.
The dealings I’ve had with JPT have always been excellent, and while I think his tweet was a miscalculation, I know he understands what it is to be a fan and does his best for us.
