Neither Ajax nor Celtic will be overconfident

508

Ajax sit top of the Dutch Eredivisie, ahead of fourth-placed PSV, who picked up three points in the Champions League last night. Four wins and a draw, away to Twente on Saturday, is a near-perfect start to the domestic campaign, although that was only Twente’s second point of the season, if that provides a glimmer of hope.

Form has been less convincing in Europe. An honourable 2-2 draw away to Rapid Vienna was made meaningless by a 2-3 defeat in Amsterdam in the Champions League qualifiers. Ajax then endured a tense two-leg Europa League qualifier against Czechs, Jablonec, which ended in a 1-0 aggregate win. Not that we should be dismissive of anyone on European form.

What will give Ronny Deila room for some encouragement is who Ajax have faced so far in the league. AZ (13th placed), Willem II (15th), NEC (10th) ADO Den Haag (12th), before dropping those points to Twente (16th). All they can do is beat the teams before them, but they will not have been stretched domestically. Even Jablonec are struggling in 6th place in the Czech league. Celtic should be able to provide a test at a higher tempo.

By any measure, Celtic are not without their problems. We’ve not kept a home clean sheet since the opening day of the league campaign against Ross County, and we’ve won only one of our last four away games – and that was against Dundee United who lost four on the bounce. But there’s three points to play for tomorrow, and I doubt either team are taking them for granted.

Here is my original post, you have picked it up wrongly, the rumours were on the blog, not mine.

Amid the rumours of an unhappy squad, no one has mentioned John Collins. Now I know JC has had problems in the past and I’m not singling him out for that reason. I am hearing from a solid source that several players can’t stand him, is this the root of the problem? – See more at: http://www.celticquicknews.co.uk/police-scotland-and-the-sfa-in-the-dock/comment-page-10/#comment-2678923

Now my solid source is a well known name in Scottish Football, the reason I didn’t come on here saying I know this happened is because I have heard not seen first hand. If you take that as idle gossip, so be it, their seems to be plenty of smoke, you’re waiting for the fire, that’s ok.

I only come on here when I have a bit of news, that is not mainstream, I have three family members all involved in the professional game, so I hear a fair bit.

I wouldn’t come on here spouting things like I could manage Celtic to win the title, my experience tells me different. HH

This brought a BIG smile to my face when I read it as, (from the URL), ‘1,140 indictments served in Rangers Case’! :-) I suspect it is just URL#1140 on the COPFS’ List.

Sid. Im still reading that you are asking about JC you say no one has mentioned him but your hearing from a solid source that several players cant stand him. Now im sure in all clubs there will be players who dont like the management that is life as much as we would like to like everyone we meet it is unrealistic .If im wrong in the manner im reading your post I of course apoligise. Yes 100% blame FLO. Every Celtic fan will be getting dogs abuse today because he can’t do his job properly. He should have sent a personal letter to the party involved or approached the person for a discrete conversation. Not tar everyone in that section to dodge the matter.

  8. lennon’s passion on 16th September 2015 3:28 pm

If the recipients had kept the private letter private then nobody would be getting dog’s abuse.

Let’s say they do approach the person for a discrete conversation, which I assume would be asking them to leave their seat and they refuse. What then? What if the person creates a physical confrontation?

This is a situation with no real best method and ultimately it’s not the club’s fault it went public. I haven’t seen much criticism of the fan that put it out on Twitter.

Indictments served in Rangers case Published: 16 September 2015

The Crown can confirm that an indictment has today been served on Craig Thomas Whyte, Gary Martyn Withey, David Henry Grier, David John Whitehouse, Paul John Clark, Charles Alexander Green and Sheik Imran Ahmad also known as Imran Ahmad.

The indictment libels charges of fraud, conspiracy to defraud, attempt to pervert the course of justice and statutory offences under the Companies Act 2006 and the Criminal Justice and Licencing (Scotland) Act 2010.

The case is scheduled to be heard at the High Court in Glasgow on 16 October 2015 in respect of a preliminary hearing.

    Further information

We would urge everyone who plans on publishing information on this case, including journalists and social media users, to bear in mind that the case remains live for the purposes of Contempt of Court and nothing should be published that might prejudice the case.

Again your showing your naivety, this is not normal life. Do things function the same when their is an atmosphere, people not all working together? He really emphasised how much it is a problem, they really detest him. Unlike you he sees that as a big problem, he also said he didn’t like him either.

And I even read the article !! Anyone’s game tomorrow. Whoever wants it most will succeed.

You hit the nail on the head and that’s what worries me most. Malmo put us out of the CL because they wanted it more.

Unless we are hungrier, braver, more alert and more focussed we will get humped.

Aitken’s 1st game was v Aberdeen, according to the Celtic wiki.

The only one I can think of in recent times is Majstorovic, at home in the 2-0 win v Utrecht (alongside Loovens). Let’s not mention the return leg.

  20. Not posted in ages very disillusioned at the moment not only are we a defensive shambles but in recent matches we have not been creating much either, not that anyone cares but here are my issues.

We are not progressing, the squad we have is light years ahead of anyone else in Scotland the lack of progress is baffling.

We are too rigid, the managers inability to pinpoint problems and fix them real time has me very worried.

Our squad is huge Ronnie does not seem to trust many of them, how many right backs have we had in the last 18mths yet we still play Ambrose there??

Not having a go at Ambrose he is a very limited defender who is error prone and seems to be unlucky but virtually every time he makes a mistake we lose a goal.

The system is not working, the three behind the striker never seem to get the ball A/deen on Sat was a prime example, how many times did any of them touch the ball in the second half?

We either need to find a system that suits the players we have or I sadly think the managers time with us is limited and I don’t want that to happen.

As I’ve been typing this I got the horrible sensation that much of what I have written above could apply to Tony Mowbray………oh dear.

So as to Thursday,Ronnie needs to be bold, please play some of the guys he signed, play izzy at LB and under no circumstances should Efe be played at RB.

I think the new CH has to start we have no choice and hope he will attack cross balls into the box and not be a spectator.

Sadly I’ve lost much of my pre season optimism and if Ronnie plays Efe on Thursday and he once again makes a crucial error I think I will totally lose confidence in him and join the manager out brigade.

I also wonder on how many occasions the complainant had actually had a problem with the offending person. I wonder if it was even a ST holder.

Seems such a strange issue for the club to have to deal with at all.

Be interested to know the truth. had a good laugh at the huns trying desperately to make the term sectarian. For a support that proclaims; ‘no one likes us we don’t care’, they are sensitive wee lambs
