NEW BHOY REVEALS HOOPS HOPES

NEW Bhoy Liam Shaw admits it will be “weird” if he makes his Celtic debut against his old Sheffield Wednesday mates in Newport tomorrow.

The 20-year-old midfielder is hoping to get the nod from Ange Postecoglou to make his first appearance since joining up at the Hoops last month following his pre-contract agreement in January.

Shaw, who was followed from Hillsborough by centre-back Osaze Urhoghide last week, is likely to play at some stage of the friendly as the new manager runs the rule over the squad he has inherited from Neil Lennon who departed the Hoops in February.

The youngster, who can also play in the middle of the rearguard, said: “I just want to get out there now and show my ability.

“Hopefully, I play well and show the gaffer what I’m about. However, it going to be weird, first game Celtic play against Sheffield Wednesday.

“But it’s also going to be just like any other game, when you show on the pitch you don’t think about anything, you just think about winning. I’m looking forward to it.

“Obviously, I know all the lads really well and they know how I play. But it will be nice to see a few familiar faces.

“I’ll just go in and give it 100 per cent and see how it goes. I reckon it will be a tough game, it won’t be easy at all.

“They’ve got a lot of good players still there, but we’ve got to play our football and play how we want to, not worry about any other team.”

Shaw, speaking to Celtic TV, added: “I’ve heard how good the atmosphere is at Celtic Park. It would be great to score a goal and hear the crowd.
