NEW BHOY SINCLAIR’S TYNECASTLE DEBUT

NEW Bhoy Scott Sinclair is standing by to make his Celtic debut in the Premiership opener against Hearts at Tynecastle this afternoon.

The 27-year-old winger completed his £3.5million move from Aston Villa yesterday after agreeing a four-year contract that reunites him with his former Swansea boss Brendan Rodgers.

Celtic were still waiting for clearance late last night to allow the the ex-Chelsea and Manchester City ace to play at least part of the game in Edinburgh.

With Patrick Roberts expected to be out for three weeks with a hamstring injury and a Champions League play-off tie against Israeli side Hapoel Be’er Sheva looming a week on Wednesday, Rodgers is eager to integrate Sinclair as quickly as possible.

The Hoops fans will get the opportunity to watch the player, who cost City £8million when they signed him from Swansea four years ago, against Motherwell in the home League Cup confrontation in midweek.

Sinclair, who passed a medical in Glasgow yesterday morning, is fully fit and ready to play after fully taking part in Villa’s pre-season and becomes Rodgers’ third signing after the captures of Moussa Dembele and Kolo Toure.

The Irishman said: “Scott’s a player I know well. I had him in at Chelsea when he was 16 years of age and was just out of Bristol Rovers, I know him probably as well as anyone and I am aware of his qualities.”
