NEW BHOY’S 72-HOUR SWEAT

IVORIAN international striker Vakoun Issouf Bayo will learn his work permit fate within the next 72 hours.

The 22-year-old frontman agreed a £2million switch to Celtic last week and has already passed his medical.

But the deal cannot be rubber-stamped until the player receives the official okay and a hearing is expected to be held tomorrow when the champions will present their case.

Unfortunately, Bayo does not automatically qualify as he has not played in 75 per cent of the Ivory Coast games in the last two years.

However, the Hoops will argue he is a “rising star” which was a successful process when they brought in Bayo’s fellow-Ivorian Eboue Kouassi from Russian outfit Krasnodar in 2017.

Brendan Rodgers urgently requires the energetic forward to be in place as he struggles for options to lead the attack.

He was forced to use teenager Mikey Johnston for an hour at Ibrox before the turn of the year with Odsonne Edouard only fit enough to turn out for the last 30 minutes.

Leigh Griffiths, who has promised to be back in action soon, is still on the sidelines due to personal issues.
