It’s great news that Celtic have secured three first choice players, Charlie Mulgrew, Adam Matthews and James Forrest, on new long term contracts. It allows the players to forget about long-term career issues and concentrate on team matters and the manager and scouts can worry about squad recruitment efforts in other areas.
This news is a direct consequence of Champions League group stage qualification. Not only do Celtic have funds to increase wage budget, more importantly, aspirational football players, who want to reach the very top of the game, have a reason to be here.
The same is true of Fraser Forster’s England call up. Scottish football has long been regarded along the lines of lower division football in England, but with Champions League football, the English national team have endorsed our football. It will be easier to attract the next wave of recruits as a result. One day Kris Commons [stand out Player of the Year candidate]can only hope his own national team will regard his productive displays in the same manner.

SFTB:
Lol yes I am not her number 1 fan either!
As to the general malaise of Sevco FC … at the start of this season I would have bet anything on that mob winning the Third Division and going straight up “on merit.”
I wouldn’t bet on it today. They are a bad, bad lot.
nice and quite on here again – have all the weans been called in for their tea
Powercut?
I’m 1 minute from Fir Park and everything is fine lol.
Motherwell not paying the leccy?
quiet – obviously
Delighted with the result through the week and the new contracts for the bhoys.
However I am getting a bit hacked off at celtic talking about resting key players so that they will be fit to play for Scotland. We pay Broonie a substantial wedge every week. If he can’t play every game for us without injections and painkillers, surely we should be thinking of the player’s well being and get him rested to play for us, or better still, get him the treatment he needs now. It should make little difference to then bean counters now the 15 million from qualification is in the bank. I think celtic’s first concern should be making sure the guy does not end up crippled as a result of playing on through injury.
It would be a real shame if he ended up like Alan McGraw (ex Morton) when we now know the dangers.
Ggh
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Green & McCoist’s plan to build bridges with Scottish football begins with the gift of a goal to Stirling Albion and the gift of laughter to all Celtic fans.

brilliantly funny, but also hard hitting, he has Radio Clyde running scared.
Flanders slates Celtic for banning him under the banner of “free speech”,
but Tommy is banned from Clyde incase he says something they dont like.
Seperately, how nasty is the RC employee calling him back and leaving the voicemail, and so is Delahunt, his mask slips.

Anyone got an online link to Radio Scotland?
That is EASILY the worst organised radio station in the UK for match-day links. Their website is a jumbled joke.
I like this image of the old corporation bus on the new road at Celtic Park.
http://www.localnewsglasgow.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/GCC0151.jpg
I don’t know if whoever created it realises just how significant the service number is.
The 61 bus service still covers the Maryhill to Celtic park route to this day. That particular bus would have operated out of the old Maryhill Bus Depot which was located at the far end of Maryhill Road and accessed by two small side-streets. The depot is now long-gone and a housing estate occupies the site. The first street, Lennox Street, has been closed. The second street remains open and has been extended to run through the estate. It’s name? Always has been, always will be…
