‘NEW DEAL COULD BE FINALISED SOON,’ RODGERS ON MIDFIELD ACE

CELTIC will offer Olivier Ntcham a lucrative new deal to ward off interest in the French midfielder.

The Under-21 international, who joined the Hoops in a £4.5million deal from Manchester City only last summer, has already been watched by Porto this month.

With his close friend and compatriot Moussa Dembele ending his two years in the east end of Glasgow, Brendan Rodgers is determined to make sure Ntcham doesn’t take an identical route when the transfer window re-opens in January.

The champions’ boss admitted: “There was interest in Olivier, but we sat down with him and his representatives and talked through the plan.

“He’s been here one year and it shows the development he’s had with the interest shown in him.

“We’re not ready to sell. When we took Olivier here there was a plan for him and his situation has come up a little bit more early than what we’d have thought.

“He and his representatives are in discussions about a new deal, so, hopefully, that could be finalised soon.”
