NEW DEAL FOR ROGIC

CELTIC’S Aussie midfielder Tom Rogic will be offered a new long-term contract.

The champions have already extended the deals of Nir Bitton and Leigh Griffiths while James Forrest has also received a very good offer to stay at the Hoops.

Boss Ronny Deila said: “Tom is definitely one of the players we would like to keep and we are working towards that just now.

“We talk all the time and we are always looking to work on the squad. He is one of the players we would like to tie up on a long-term deal.

“He’s very important in our team. He has a lovely technique, he has innovation and is creative. The technical aspect he has is the top level.

“Tom needs to get his fitness now because he has been out for a few months.GpXIMvSBfytII8WPXhHI19pJjKMMtuWorA-JhQuBHus

“He only actually joined in training at the end of the week, so he is still got to reach match fitness. However, it is a positive thing that he is back.

“Last season he was out for so long that I barely knew who he was. But he took the advice we gave him, he got fit and this season he took his chance.

“He has been unlucky to miss the last few months, but he has played a lot of football this season for us, a lot of games, and, hopefully, now he can have a role to play as we chase the title and Scottish Cup.

“He has a lot of things that are difficult to get in a player which is why we want to keep him here.

“We also have Charlie Mulgrew and Kris Commons back which is good and the only long-term problem we have now is Jozo Simunovic.”

Rogic, who has been linked with several top-flight clubs across the border, added: “The Premier League is a division that every kid grows up wanting to play in. I think it’s the most exciting league in the world.

”But sometimes you don’t realise how big this club is or what it means.

“I think to be able to play your home football in that stadium and represent the club is something that I really enjoy and don’t take for granted.

“It is enjoyable, especially on the back of last season when I had a difficult time.

“To come through now, play regularly this season and score a few goals has been satisfying.”
