‘NEW HEAD SCOUT MUST HAVE AN EYE FOR A PLAYER,’ RODGERS

CELTIC will have a new Head of Recruitment in place by the summer, according to Brendan Rodgers.

The club have been taking their team in their search for a replacement for John Park who left the post in October.

Rodgers said: “It has been a good process, but we’re just waiting for the right one.

“The most important thing is they have an eye for a player.

“The job will involve controlling the process, but also watching players. It’s probably 75 per cent managing the recruitment team to get the profiles we want.”

Rodgers’ only recruit in the January window– £2.8million midfielder Eboue Kouassi – still has a bit to go before he’s integrated into the first team.

The Ivorian pulled on a Hoops jersey for the first time in Friday’s 1-0 Youth Cup win over Hibs and Rodgers said: “I have a good squad, so I don’t need to rush him.

“He’s not just for now but the future so we want to make sure he’s at a good level of fitness.”
