New, social, CQN, Elvis is dead!

1157

And we’re back!  What a two days of systems nightmare.  We went down at 7pm on Thursday.  No conclusive information on why, we have had traffic volume related outages before, but this was on a more serious and persistent basis. We had to move the database to a new location and restore from backup to recover, we lost a few days articles. Better not speak to me about Fasthosts for a while.

We got access to the databases this morning and took the opportunity to upgrade facilities in the background.  We’re on a new incarnation of WordPress and now have Facebook and Twitter integration.  Good news is you can link your Celtic Quick News account with your Facebook and/or Twitter accounts, and share information from CQN to your social network timeline.

To do so:
Login to Celtic Quick News.
Cick on your name at the top of the Comments box to access your profile.
Scroll to the bottom of the page to access the Facebook and Twitter links.
Update your profile.

You will then see a Share link beside your comments.

Should we be Celtic Slow News for today?  Here it is:

Rennes 1-1 Celtic.
Hugely important second half performance and Joe Ledley goal.
Your favourite billionaire is getting divorced and has claimed he has no money!  Oh dear.
One year on, the SFA are still smoking out religiously offensive correspondents!
The Berlin Wall fell and I hear Elvis is dead.

Have a try at the Facebook and Twitter links and let me know what you think of it.  I’m off for a break but will catch up later.

Most importantly, there is a Celtic fan called Andrew who will be walking about Belfast in a daze this weekend.  If you see him, but him a beer.

  1. Thank God for that. First of all, cut off from CQN for the best part of 2 days and then when it is up and running, it doesn’t recognise my password. Hopefully, all sorted.

Watched the BBC Scotland programme about them and then read today’s Scotsman interview with the owner. Am I glad we have DD in charge!!!!

  2. I watched the BBC prog and read Tom English’s interview with Craig White. To be honest I don’t know how anyone can unravel enough to predict what is going to happen. The BBC prog was entitled “Rangers The Inside Story” really should have been The Craig White story. Told us nothing we didn’t really know before hand about the tax case etc. That CW was a Arfur Daly character was also old news.

Had a look at the league table this morning. Dismal reading – not just that the Bad Guys are 10 infront but that there are 2or 3 clubs in close proximity to us. That is the real story. Heads down, eyes front Celtic. Nothing else matters. Get it right on the pitch.

Oh, and bring back Blantyre Tim!

I beleive his missus would echo those sentiments!!

    Apologies for misquoting you mate.

    You’re still wrang though :))))

  4. Well done to all involved in getting CQN back online.

Was in Rennes for the game on Thursday and a two-hour flight back after the game gave time to concoct a ‘just back frrom the game’ post. It wasn’t to be, but suffice to say, what a fantastic day, the support was superb, the Bretons warm and friendly (and in awe of the Celtic support!). Great atmosphere in the ground too, and from where I was standing, Cha and Forster equally culpable, but a spirited recovery from both, and from the whole team. Before we start dreaming of away victories, an away draw will do for now, just a shame about the comedy goal. We should beat them at home.

We won’t get it, but we need a very similar team to play tomorrow. Too much chopping and changing has been a problem, partly our own fault of course buying an ineligible full-back for Europe, and less our own fault with so many injuries, but Wanyama must start, Ledley must start, and dare I say, Loovens too.

As for thems? Wake me up when they’re in oblivion. This is death by a thousand cuts, and we may be at 999, but we may also be at 4 or 5. It’s entertaining, but boring in equal measure.

Get well soon fleagle1888 and Gordon_J (good to see you posting).

  6. Shug Keevins is surely due a big Craig Whyte brucie bonus for his constant hours of criticism and forensic examination of Neil Lennon and the Celtic first team this afternoon, DR management will also be well pleased

I understand where you are coming from, and admire your stance.

We all see things diferently, unlike you, I hardly ever see the bhoys in the flesh, so for me it is simply a case of not buying merchandise etc.

It might not come to it, it’s a choice I would rather not have to make, but on the other hand if I am not making it, the hun won’t be getting punished.

    What a bloody choice.

IF the huns go bust, insolvent/liquidated, and Celtic have a helping hand in them being allowed to ply their trade at the top level, the club will never get another penny from me or my family.

As you say, what is the point.

The have stolen and cheated, there is no way on gods earth I will support anything that condones them.

    ++++++++++++++++++++++++

Whether Rangers come back or not Celtic should be in a position to insist on the folowing reforms as a condition for restoring a semblance of integrity to Scottish Football. It was written in June but the need is more apparent with every passing day.

    http://celticunderground.net/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=693:sfa-reform-one-down-three-to-go&catid=45:season-2010-2011&Itemid=80

Without these conditions how could our support be asked to part with our money?

  9. Testing, Paul67 very testing indeed ;-) Good to be back with some new features! Well done getting us back up and running.

  10. THE EXILED TIM,

either way there is gonna be a serious pr drive to accomodate this if the worse should befall them,

now whether celtic plc fall behind this i really dont know but i would hope not, but i am also not so stupid as

not to realise that money driven priorities overule commensense at times.

  11. Well done, Andrew & Paul.

News about Elvis dead are not true. I just heard him singing fifth stanza “Money Honey” for the favourite billionaire.

I think Polish referees did well in the game against Rennes. Can’t forget Cha Du Ri smiling after he scored own goal. I can’t understand why he was so amused?

  12. Bloke

Glad you enjoyed the trip and have posted very similarly regarding the line up, and performance in France.

Sadly, I agree that NL will again change the system because we are at home in the SPL, instead of playing a modern

Euro format, which would throw Aberdeen into turmoil.

I live in hope that NL will jettison’s 4 4 2 because Aberdeen will sit in, and counter like St Johnstone Hearts and Kilmarnock and a lesser extent Rangers.

    * Cue dozens of posts – Celtic must all out attack at home to SPL fodder *

  13. Great to have CQN back!

Astonishing interview from Whyte in the Scotsman.

Paranoid, self-pitying, aggressive, sinister, evasive, and filled with expletives.

Predictably, the FFers are loving it.

IMHO he is either starting to lose it big time, or playing this whole thing incredibly cynically…

There is a god.. Like Lazarus CQN rises again.. Amen..

Am I the only hoop noticing that CQN crashed around time of the bbc doc on the wide boy of Govan ? Coincidence…? I think not.. Brilliant in paper today.. The charade at Govan is crumbling.. They contradict themselves every day.. But be in no doubt their ship IS sinking.. Quicker and deeper than they thought.. And what a laugh hearing Rangers fans still in denial .. A wee change too .. Subtly they are not do confident re HMRC…

Welcome back CQN ERS.. Our families will get peace now!!

I can see a drive for league reconstruction.

    Auldheid

I agree, will the club push for this ?

I remember reading it at the time, and will have another look at it, from memory it makes perfect scence.

We have the sfa by the proverbials, this is our chance, while we are at it, something like they have in Poland where the refs are scrutinised after every round of games would be the way to go.

  19. Paul67 et al

    Welcome back Paul and CQN!

Encouraging performance on Thursday, and with Udinese in a double bill with who they trying to kid, a home win against Rennes could keep us in with a chance. Certainly would keep us interested. I believe our players will ultimately benefit from playing these matches, so let’s take all the positives from the result, and indeed our part in the overall atmosphere on Thursday. Nice little run of matches before we play Rennes again, Aberdeen tomorrow, Hibs in the League Cup, and the Hibees again next Saturday. Hope to be at the last mentioned match!

  23. I thought our performance against Rennes was very encouraging. Bar one complete brainstorm by Cha we looked comfortable and dangerous for long spells.

There also seemed to be a bit of “togetherness” about the players again.

Was particularly impressed by Stokes ability to act as lone striker. And Wanyama should be just about the first name on the team sheet these days…
