Newco born from patronage of monetary inducements

740

Let’s be clear about what is going to happen on Friday.  Monetary inducements are being made to allow a newly created company to advance its football team two divisions up the league structure.

The overwhelming majority of money to pay for these financial inducements will be taken from Celtic, who vehemently oppose all these measures.  The SPL will reduce the commercial distribution to the top club in the league and pay-off everyone else.  41 teams will benefit financially from this proposition, only Celtic will lose.

For good measure, the SPL have declined to take gate sharing off the table.  Up to 30% of your season ticket money will soon be commandeered by Kilmarnock, Motherwell and the rest, who will take their slice and share some with the lower leagues.

All the while you can scarcely find a football fan of any club who is anything other than disgusted by this shoddy behaviour; Celtic fans are by no means isolated.  Most fans of former-club, Rangers, don’t want to see a phoenix assisted by such blatant patronage, lest Newco is forever known as a team which needed rules to be changed and money taken from Celtic to give it life.

Believe me, if Newco exists for 100 years, every day they score a goal someone will say, “They are only there because the rules were changed to help them and money was taken from Celtic to pay for it”.

They will forever be known as the Establishment club with definitive evidence that they benefited from the Establishment’s help.

The once-proud era of Scottish league football is surely over, what we are witnessing is merely evidence of this fact.  ‘Sport’ as gone from our football. Fans, clubs and the national bodies must accept this reality and start to make forward plans to breathe the oxygen of genuine competition into our game.

Where is Michel Platini when football really needs some help?

Apologies to any Hurkin Luns apparently season tickets have reached nearly 600

    ————————————————————-

It’s difficult enough getting any sense from a hun at the best of times granted, however on the subject of season ticket sales they are surpassing themselves in the somnium stakes.

If I got this right (overheard conversation this morning) they have sold 600 tickets up from 200 odd from last week but the only reason they’re down in numbers from last year is that season ticket sales are suspended until the SFL decision on Friday and at that point the conversation ended with both of them nodding in agreement.

I have already said several times in here ,what I know to be true, that S.F.A. did not even ask for any compensation from Rangers when Sir Walter broke his contract. So Darryll was right when he said – ‘both sides were happy’.

P.S.Re. ‘gate-sharing’ – would it not be worth considering a system whereby the visiting club got a % of the gate equivalent to the % of visiting fans in attendance. That would be fair and wouldn’t cost too much as most clubs bring two busloads to Celtic Park..They surely would not expect 50% of 50,000.

  5. Today I heard a wee snippet which I’m sure is nonsense.

Story goes that Mr Doncaster spent some time in West Lothian (aka The

Orange Free State ) in his younger years.

And would travel with friends to see a team which is now defunct.

I think calling Britain a narco-state is a tad unfair-Britain had a passion for tea in the early-to-mid 19th Century, and China had a monopoly on it.

They would only accept payment in silver.

Britain, not having much of that metal, bartered it with the only commodity which their Empire had to hand, and which the Chinese coveted.

    Opium.

Britain was wrong to trade in the substance-which,btw,was legal at home then, but China didn’t do themselves any favours.

    Calling us a narco-state is unfair,IMO.

Not of great use to you in the halal recommendations for Cardiff I’m afraid.

Ambala is on City Road , never been there, but its surrounded by loads of kebab shops and cheap fast food eateries. Not the best location. Best place to eat there is actually Haweli – (recommended by me and Jay-Z !) but not sure if they have a halal option.

Juboraj has a couple of restaurants, one in the city next to Mill Lane, where the fabulously young and trendy go for a pint, and where you might be lucky enough to see one of the Welsh Rugby team or Craig Bellamy get into an animated discussion with a member of the public, usually ending in fisticuffs. They also have one at Lakeside, bit more out of town location, about £8 in a cab, nice restaurant, and quite upmarket as Indian restaurants go, personally I think it’s overpriced but it’s very popular and has a good reputation.

True, – personal anecdotal evidence suggests there are very many Direct Debits cancelled, and on hold, * thanks recently to Bomber’s sterling work*

A subject noticeably given a very wide berth by MSM, who are consumed with

the Div One campaigning, and the rule breaking set for Friday

For all we know they may have more senior players, than season ticket holders.

Their real problems may just be starting once they get a league to play in, something that it’s far from clear, they’ll be able to fulfil and sustain.

BikerGerryS – there is still too much inequality and too much poverty in the world.

Amen, brother. As somebody once said, the poor will always be with us.

However, the poor today in the West used to have nothing and worry about starving to death. Now they have satellite TV and expensive trainers and worry about obesity.

    So, progress. (thumbsup)

Dontbrattbakkinanger – Philvis -I’d rather be a rich American in 1942 [ regardless of colour] than a poor one in 2012.

Depends how you define “rich” of course. Being a billionaire in 1942 was probably more fun than being a working joe in 2012.

But say you fell ill. I’d much rather have, say, cancer in 2012 than 1942. Because of economic growth and scientific development, you’re much more likely to survive and thrive today than you would have been in the 40’s.

With regard to the economics of war- in democracies you have a relatively small fighting force [ even with full mobilisation] being supported by much greater numbers of civilians, including of course many women, to keep the army in the field.

Yup. And they’re all busily engaged in the business (directly or indirectly) of manufacturing ways to kill people and break things. Hence, wars don’t create prosperity. (thumbsup)

When HMRC rejected the CVA from the huns it was rejected on the 13th of June. Officially the 15th of June. HMRC then appointed liquidators BDO who were due to take over from Duff & Phelps 28 working days later.

Another unknown is how the footballing authorities – SFA and Uefa – would react to any new club while the old club still had outstanding debts to footballing creditors (other teams) totalling more than £3m.

Mr Green’s ambitions for a new club may also be thwarted if liquidators from BDO decide to challenge the asset sale.

Liquidators have the power to unpick any transactions which they believe are not in the best interests of creditors.

This Friday will be the 28th day.

I believe that this Friday is Duff & Phelps last day at the helm.

Is there something that is being rushed through here by the footballing authorities due to something that BDO might do or find out next week ?

If the SFL vote in newco on Friday and by the middle of next week BDO say

“Hey wait a minute Mr. Green these assets are technically still owned by Craig Whyte and Ticketus”

What would be the situation to the decision to include sevco in SFL 1 ?

Are the footballing bodies still protecting Sir David Murray is what I am asking ?

  19. Paul,

As a long-time fan (and long-time lurker), I understand your perspective; however, I tend to side somewhat with deliasmith – there needs to be some mechanism to ensure the other clubs survive, otherwise there is no top division to play in.

You have been adamant that any kind of gate-sharing is anathema to the health of Celtic and I can see why that is the case, but if the SPL prize-money was evened out it seems to me that would be a not unreasonable approach. The bottom line is the need to foster better standards of football and to get more people coming out to watch their team. I think that this is a key outcome that proper leadership in the SFA and SPL should be focusing on.

Rangers: Five former players refused transfer clearance

International clearance has not been granted for the transfers of Steven Naismith, Steven Whittaker, Steve Davis, Kyle Lafferty or Jamie Ness.

The quintet have found new clubs after refusing to have their contracts transferred to a newco Rangers.

But, with Rangers seeking compensation, the Scottish FA will not provide authorisation for the moves.

Fifa are expected to grant temporary registrations while the world governing body rules on the matter.

Davis has joined Southampton, while Whittaker has signed for Norwich and Everton are Naismith’s new employers.

Ness and Lafferty have found new clubs

Ness moved to Stoke City and Lafferty is with Swiss club Sion.

Clubs request international transfer clearance (ITC) through their own national association, who then contact the SFA who, in turn, contact the club the player is leaving.

However, in this case, the issue is muddied by Rangers FC plc being consigned to liquidation and the newco Rangers having not yet become members of the SFA.

Eleven players have refused to join the new company set up by Charles Green after he purchased the assets of the Ibrox club.

Those leaving have been advised by their union that they do so as free agents.

Green contests this and has written to all clubs in England warning that the players are in breach of contract.

PFA Scotland say Green is deliberately misrepresenting the contract situation, with union chairman Tony Higgins last week saying: “I haven’t spoken to a single employment or sports solicitor who agrees with Mr Green’s interpretation of the law.”

Fifa say they have received no requests on behalf of any former Rangers players.

    —————————————–

Considering how they handled the Celik transfer they the SFA have no shame whatsoever.

    —————————————————————————–#

When I see how imbued the footballing bodies are with the mafia for the mediocre and the lack of Celtic inertia over the years in addressing this issue then quite simply if Sevco is voted into SFL 1 and this is not exactly what Celtic desire then I feel it is the end of the road for us in Scotland.
