Newco caught in rolling statement shambles

254

Having been handed their backside on a plate by the SPFL, Newco claim their incompetent resolution “was never intended to release end of season payments” as “any club facing short term financial difficulties should request a loan from the SPFL”.  This runs contrary to their earlier statement “Rangers [sic.] will immediately propose a members’ resolution which would release prize money.”

Exactly why a resolution would be required for a club to request a loan under existing arrangements is unfathomable and the reason why you don’t allow children to issue statements on behalf of football clubs.

Can you imagine the wording of such a resolution, “We propose that clubs are allowed to request a loan as it already says in the rules clubs are allowed to request a loan.”

A leaked document on the SPFL vote indicates that the vote remains active for 28 days or until it gains sufficient acceptance to pass.  If the majority of clubs voted No, the issue would still remain on the table for 28 days, allowing any number to change their vote to a Yes.  It is also the case that not voting is the same as voting No; the resolution requires sufficient numbers of Yes votes to pass.

Dundee’s No vote and rescinding that vote therefore count as the same; they are entitled to rescind or change their vote to Yes at any time.

All of this, ALL of it, is like rearranging the deckchairs on the Titanic.  Releasing prize money now will assist community clubs with a very low cash burn.  It will put only transient money in the pockets of others.  If they do not have many millions in the bank, like Celtic, or cannot find a benefactor, and no other Premiership club has one, they will be insolvent soon.

Instead of firing off angry statements or conspiring to subvert the League, Newco would be better advised to face harsh realities.

  2. Nally81 I just read a BBC article that said that the ICT chairman had shared the WhatsApp conversation, Gardiner had been described as the CEO before

  3. So Jackson is reporting that Dundee are set to approve the resolution. Follow follow in full melt down with one bear predicting civil war. Yes. Civil war.

Those lads have a long night ahead of them but it is a Jackson exclusive so let’s not look too far ahead. Either way, hopefully we avoid a civil war 😂

  4. that civil war.

  5. Think this one through.

If the league becomes a starvation contest then only one team wins CELTIC.

Rangers need the league money we don’t. We starve but Rangers die, and maybe a few others.

It suits Celtic to finish the 19/20 league whenever football can resume. if its 2021 then so be it, Rangers will be gone and maybe not able to reform.

Now Rangers want the money but don’t want the league finished, They want the new season 20/21 started but is they want the 20/21 finished they will have to have a preseason training built up say 6 weeks then 9 games of 19/20 plus Scottish cup and then another pause before 20/21 starts.

This means after lockdown ends the 20 weeks before a ball is kicked of the new season, Any European qualifying will be behind closed doors so still no income.

Newco may get the £3m odd SPFL but not till November and new season tickets money October.

How can they survive 6 extra months without income? They cant.

  8. At 11:30 a.m. on Thursday 11 April, Titanic arrived at Cork Harbour on the south coast of Ireland. It was a partly cloudy but relatively warm day, with a brisk wind.[136] Again, the dock facilities were not suitable for a ship of Titanic’s size, and tenders were used to bring passengers aboard. In all, 123 passengers boarded Titanic at Queenstown – three First Class, seven Second Class and 113 Third Class. In addition to the 24 cross-Channel passengers who had disembarked at Cherbourg, another seven passengers had booked an overnight passage from Southampton to Queenstown. Among the seven was Father Francis Browne, a Jesuit trainee who was a keen photographer and took many photographs aboard Titanic, including the last-ever known photograph of the ship. A decidedly unofficial departure was that of a crew member, stoker John Coffey, a Queenstown native who sneaked off the ship by hiding under mail bags being transported to shore.[139] Titanic weighed anchor for the last time at 1:30 p.m. and departed on her westward journey across the Atlantic.[13

  9. Third class

    A typical third-class cabin

The third-class passengers or steerage passengers left hoping to start new lives in the United States and Canada. Third-class passengers paid £7 (£698 today) for their ticket, depending on their place of origin; ticket prices often included the price of rail travel to the three departure ports. Tickets for children cost £3 (£299 today).[8]

Third-class passengers were a diverse group of nationalities and ethnic groups. In addition to large numbers of British, Irish, and Scandinavian immigrants, other passengers were from Central and Eastern Europe, the Levant (primarily Lebanon), and Hong Kong.[26] Some travelled alone or in small family groups. Several groups of mothers were travelling alone with their young children—most going to join their husbands, who had already gone to America to find jobs, and having saved enough money, could now send for their families.[10]

The Goodwins and five of their six children: William, Frederick, Charles, Harold, Lillian, Augusta, and Jessie

    The youngest Goodwin, Sidney

Among the larger third-class families were John and Annie Sage, who were immigrating to Jacksonville, Florida, with their 9 children, ranging in age from 4 to 20 years; Anders and Alfrida Andersson of Sweden and their five children, who were travelling to Canada along with Alfrida’s younger sister Anna, husband Ernst, and baby Gilbert; and Frederick and Augusta Goodwin, who were moving with their six children to his new job at a power plant in New York. In 2007, scientists using DNA analysis identified the body of a small, fair-haired toddler, one of the first victims to be recovered by the CS Mackay Bennett, as Frederick’s youngest child, 19-month-old Sidney.[27] The Sages, Anderssons and Goodwins all perished in the sinking.

The youngest passenger on board the ship, 2-month-old Millvina Dean, who with her parents Bertram Sr. and Eva Dean and older brother Bertram, were emigrating from England to Kansas, died in 2009. She was the last survivor of the Titanic disaster to die.[28]

    Bertram and Millvina Dean

Frank Goldsmith Jr. with his parents and younger brother, Bertie, around 1907

To compete with rival shipping company Cunard, the White Star Line offered their steerage passengers modest luxuries, in the hopes that emigrants would write to relatives back home and encourage them to travel on White Star Line ships. Third-class passengers had their own dining facilities, with chairs instead of benches, and meals prepared by the third-class kitchen staff. On other liners, the steerage-passengers would have been expected to bring their own food.[29] Rather than dormitory-style sleeping areas, third-class passengers had their own cabins. The single men and women were separated, women in the stern in two to six berth cabins, men in the bow in up to 10 berth cabins, often shared with strangers. Each stateroom was fitted with wood panelling and beds with mattresses, blankets, pillows, electric lights, heat, and a washbasin with running water, except for the bow cabins, which did not have a private washbasin. Two public bathtubs were also provided, one for the men, the other for women.[30]

Passengers gathered in the third-class common room, where they could play chess or cards, or walk along the poop deck. Third-class children played in the common room or explored the ship. Nine-year-old Frank Goldsmith recalled peering into the engine room and climbing up the baggage cranes on the poop deck.[31]

Ship’s regulations were designed to keep third-class passengers confined to their area of the ship. The Titanic was fitted with grilles to prevent the classes from mingling and these gates were normally kept closed, although the stewards could open them in the event of an emergency. In the rush following the collision, the stewards, occupied with waking up sleeping passengers and leading groups of women and children to the boat deck, did not have time to open all the gates, leaving many of the confused third-class passengers stuck below decks.[32]

Would like to finish the league, as obviously we’d romp it. Hope the SPFL give it every chance

  11. In the absence of games, the only way to decide league positions, prize money, title winners and relegation is by an average points won system.

To avoid any arguments about teams in form and their likelihood to avoid relegation or catch rivals in their push for prize money I propose the following:

All teams are awarded an average point system multiplied by the games they have remaining.

The result of this resolution is to be added to the points they have accumulated to date.

To reflect most recent form, the games considered should be those each team has played in their respective division since the start of 2020.

Even The Rangers, RIFC and sundry others would have trouble finding fault with that proposal.

  12. Civil War by the Huns ?

how can you have a Civil War without breaking “Social Distancing” Rules ? Someone should tell them that NO MASS Gatherings allowed !

  13. Good morning friends from a beautiful, clear skied, bright, windless but touch-of-frosty East Kilbride.

  14. IF…A BIg IF…Peter Lawwell made Celtic’s opinions known in any conversation or meeting with other Club Chairman on how the League should be decided before last Fridays Vote….then so what ?

IF..He is accused of influencing other clubs on how to vote…then so what ?

Budgie at Hertz has ALREADY ADMITTED phoning other clubs before the Vote…likewise the Huns have admitted also receiving information from other Clubs…oh and the “Whistle Blower “.

No one can tell me that the Huns were NOT trying to influence other clubs on how to vote, during any conversations or Ludge meetings ?

I can just imagine the Huns threatening other Clubs with….” We wont take tickets for your grounds for away games etc etc UNLESS You vote or way ”

  15. SAINT STIVS…

I have watched several Documentaries on TV about The Titanic.

The last one I watched maybe around a year ago Claimed that one of the ships Boiler Rooms was ALREADY on Fire BEFORE it sailed from Belfast ?

They claimed that several crewmen complained/Alerted Officers on Board about it, but it washed “Hushed Up” as nothing was to interfere with this Historic Voyage etc ?

Those same Crewmen were given permission to quit their Posts and leave the Ship once She had reached Southampton, and several Crewmen who had complained about the Fire…took up that offer and went On Shore ?

There was also at least One Photograph to show the Scorch/Burn Marks on the side of the Ship as She was leaving Belfast /

I obviously dont know if any of the above was/is true, and or whether the Photos were real ?

    ……….

I suggested Albert Kidd on here some days ago… maybe before Celtic Underground ?

    LOL

  16. Good morning all from another beautiful sunny day in the “garden of God” Garngad

Definetly something in the weather being brighter/dryer/sunnier and no cars on the road and planes in the sky.

Anyway we should keep our powder dry but make it known in a private letter to SPFL/ SFA that whatever the outcome we should either be champions or play out games to become champions and no cash prize money paid out until prizes are dished out, anything else will resort in legal action being taken against them.

    Hail Hail

    D. :)

  17. If Dundee finally say “Yes” to the SPFL Proposal….I wonder how long it will be before Dens Park is “Torched” ?

Huns on the WAR Path ?

I see that Barry Ferguson is delighted that Keilty hearts ( who ?) are being awarded the league Title DESPITE only being 6 Points ahead of Bonny Rigg Rose, who ALSO have a game in hand, and who were also due to play Fergusons mob at Bonnyrigg, and who have ALSO already beaten Fergusons mob TWICE this season !

Just last week Ferguson was saying that he didnt want any Title Award “Off the Pitch” ?

He has now said that His Team deserve the Title ?
