Newco: failing deliberately or just that incompetent?

198

With news that SPFL clubs are able to send in proxy votes from this morning in advance of the 12 May EGM, that matter could be dead today, leaving us all to wonder why Newco failed to provide their dossier of evidence against the SPFL before votes can arrive to assure they fail.

St Mirren, Hamilton Accies and Motherwell have either issued strong statements of support for the League, or, as SPFL directors, signed a letter asking clubs to support their position.  Newco, Hearts and Stranraer have to carry the vote of every other Premiership club, including Celtic, as well as 75% of the lower leagues.

If I can borrow another gambling analogy, Douglas Park may be sitting with four aces in his hand, but if he does not know when play his cards, he will inevitably lose.  The issue has moved on from the competency of the SPFL board, to the sheer incompetency of those who purport to “hold their feet to the fire” to get out of bed early enough to play the game.

The requisitioners seem full of paranoid self-righteousness, but pent-up rage in an echo chamber achieves nothing if you miss deadlines and the process needed for success.  Newco have made this look like a lazy half-arsed attempt at insurrection.  The only questions is, is this a deliberate attempt to fail, or are they just that incompetent?  My money is on the latter.

And do you know what will bother Newco the most?  Check how they led the media in the early days, this was presented as a Newco v Celtic issue.  It became Newco v St Mirren, Hamilton Accies, Motherwell, Dundee etc.  The unsurpassed indignity.  Celtic are on the metaphorical beach, our work is done for the season.

I have to say I agree that is probably not a video I enjoy getting free publicity on these pages.

It is dangerous and playing into the take to the streets armed and mask free to open the country again brigade.

FOX News really promoting those guys over here.

They can sound compelling in parts but it is utter bile. I find myself agreeing with CanMan for perhaps the first time!

It is not those two clowns that will suffer, they will gain.

I’ll take your wager good sir.

  5. We plunked bools playing holeys, where you had to knock your opponent’s bool into a hole usually carved out with your heel.

  6. I got the belt on my first day at school along with a few others playing bools on a stank, now that I know that it was an access point to the sewer pipe from the school I get the punishment

  7. Personally I believe it’s wrong for the likes of Facebook or YouTube to determine what videos or opinions are tolerated.

It’s a slippery slope to censorship.

What next? My opinion on abortion? My views on the ruling party? My disagreement on The Rangers VersionII?

I avoid political discussions on here as much as possible, but would never tolerate differing opinions being suppressed.

Even conspiracy theories about vote fixing.

    TET,

I’m seeing a pattern here, you keep throwing up quacks who obviously disagree with orthodox medical practitioners.

  10. Here is an article from the American Association of Physicians and Surgeons..

It’s a wee bit lengthy but the crux of the article is that HCQ, Hydroxychloroquine (try spelling that when you’re tired or inebriated) has a 90% chance of success on Covid-19 patients.

    https://aapsonline.org/hcq-90-percent-chance/

Regardless of whether the conclusion is correct or not, we each have a personal responsibility to decide whether we would take the drug or refuse it should we be in the unfortunate position of needing to be treated.

    camusbhoy,

first day at Aquinas, I returned from holiday a week into the semester, went to school office by way of main entrance as classes were lining up, I had no idea which line to join so went to ask which class and where, 3 of the belt from headmaster for having the audacity to walk up the stairs as teachers and pupils were assembling.

  12. BT

I posted a day or so ago about my gir n cleek.

How I had to walk all the way home when the cleek broke.

  13. Canman, it the same reason for us as we didn’t know that we shouldn’t have been there

My experience from St. Augustines’s Milton, we used to have competitions on who could get the belt the most in a week

Are saying that the death of the young UK Covid victim was faked and didn’t happen ?

    camusbhoy,

Done all the belt games, my first day taught me that looking for help from the staff was not an option, this lesson was delivered from the top.

  16. Neil Doncaster has revealed his anxious staff have been bombarded with vile abuse and threats of violence on the back of a controversial vote to end the season early during the coronavirus pandemic.

The SPFL chief executive has come under furious fire since heading up the emergency measures to shut down Scottish football and distribute £1.8m of emergency money to clubs in the three lower leagues

    No surprise…

  17. TET

I was off the blog earlier and did not see your posts.

I have to give a quick reaction

    1) There will always be fringe opinion, new perspectives and new trends in all areas, including Science. These guys you cite are putting their stuff out there on You Tube, Fox News and other sites where they will get a welcome because of confirmation bias. What they are not doing is putting their research into readily available journals to be accepted, critiqued or debunked by their peers, This is PR, not research.

    2) They may actually be right, they may even have stumbled upon something, but we will never know because they won’t put it out there for critique. Meanwhile, the serious medical professions are trying desperately to find out more about what we are dealing with. In the process, they will have got some bits wrong and will get some bits wrong again. The strategy is always a best-fit to the current trends but it is best fit by trying out a few off-the-peg suits/strategies rather than by bespoke tailoring.

Some deaths have been misattributed to COVID and will be again. Other COVID deaths have been overlooked and misattributed elsewhere. In this fog, people have to steer a safe course.

Sweden has chosen one way to go and it will be fascinating, 6 months down the line, to find out if they were right to do so. But if they are wrong more people will die than is necessary. Nobody wants a world in lockdown. Not the left or right. Not Bill Gates or ISIS or the NRA. But those in responsible positions of power have to steer the best course for their populations. If the cry to Stop Lockdown wins the PR battle it will have won on emotion not facts, and, if it is wrong, it will result in many more deaths. It will be too late then to say “Oops!” or “Sorry!”. Those will be meaningless responses.

    2) I don’t get the point re a newspaper publishing a picture of a boy who did die. I was involved in a tenement fire when I was at primary school- my family escaped but there was a fatality in the ground floor where the fire started. The Daily Record had a front page lead on it and several inside pages- they got the dead man’s details wrong. Since then I have had no expectation of accuracy from them. Censorship in MSM or You Tube is just so much fluff just now. They are platforms where anyone can post anything. Your enclosed video was badly presented and failed to make a coherent point. As others have said- Are they arguing that children did not die when they did or are they reading too much into a newspaper using the wrong picture? Can they spell out what they are alleging because we have been here before with allegations of actors faking deaths.

Stuff gets taken down if it is dangerously inaccurate. These doctors need to convince their peers before they start the PR stuff. They are entrepreneurial mavericks.

Many of us here know people who have contracted this disease. Some know people who have died from it. Our information is not fake. It remains open to judgement as to whether we have been too cautious and not bold enough in taking the risks but I am certainly not going to be convinced by the proven liars of Fox, Reddit, MAGA, NRA, Tea Party and their various Tin God Presidents (Trump, Orban, Bolsenaro)

  18. SFtBs @ 11:01 PM,

As far as the video with the two “Doctors” go, I watched the first bit.

Now maybe I’m missing something, I’m certainly no expert on the way the USofA are rolling out their test program but a serious flaw struck me in the “Doctors” extrapolations straight away.

Now, surly people that have been tested for Coronavirus have been because:

    – They have the symptoms

    – They have been in contact with someone who has the symptoms or has tested positive

    – They are at a higher risk of catching/transmitting the virus.

For me this means that those that have been tested will have a significantly higher chance of having contracted the virus.

So you would expect the percentage of positive results in those groups to be far higher than the populace in general… Yes!?

Therefore extrapolating these numbers to the population as a whole is going to be woefully inaccurate. Then using it to determine the CFR is just plain barmy… No!?

    What have I missed?

    Stay safe

    Hail Hail

  19. Ref the header article.

I dont believe Sevco have to win the SPFL vote. I’m not sure they expect to. Rather, they have to appeal to their customer base.

They have to deflect from their horrendous 2020 performances. They have to deny their financial constraints. They have to decry any attempt to award the top team the top prize.

    Deflect- deny – decry.

On that basis, it is job done.

The other 2 teams in this trinity of evil are merely trying to avoid premature relegation (cheers, spellcheck)

The rest of scottish football shall look on and laugh. Let them be hoist with their own petard.

  20. I watched the video and at least twice Dr Dan Erickson mentioned his concerns about the price of oil. Why? What has the price of oil got to do with their presentation unless they are worried about their shareholding or they are being financed by someone in the petrochemical industry?

Also Sweden is not a great reference point. Many Swedes live on their own in a rather affluent country with little or no overcrowding and it is far too early to tell if their strategy is correct, only time will tell.

One other thing, how many Health Care professionals die during a flu epidemic? COVID-19 is taking the lives of many HCPs worldwide.

  21. May have found the answer to my own question as the good Drs practice in Kern County.

    Petroleum:

As of 2015, Kern is California’s top oil-producing county, with 78% of the state’s 56,653 active oil wells and 71% of oil production. The county produced 144.5 million barrels of oil in 2015, accounting for about 4% of overall U.S. oil production.
