Newco games bring the best out of McGregor

254

The absence of suspended Mikael Lustig on Sunday might convince Brendan Rodgers to go with a back three of Ajer, Compper and Simunovic, with Kieran Tierney and James Forrest playing wingback rolls.  With Scott Brown, Olivier Ntcham and Moussa Dembele certain to start, and Tom Rogic looking very likely, Brendan Rodgers’ options begin to look straightforward.

He will pair any two from Scott Sinclair, Odsonne Edouard, Eboue Kouassi and Callum McGregor.  Games against Newco seem to bring out the best in Scott and Callum, but both have missed out on selection recently.  I understand the call for Odsonne to partner Moussa up front, but, given a choice, I would rather see us control midfield than worry too much about the top of the pitch.

The Ibrox surface suits Callum McGregor’s playmaking ability.  Have him in there pulling the strings.

  1. Sevco are like many football clubs in that it is very guilty regards running up debts, problem comes when you have to pay the debts and / or when predictions about preformance are not achieved so debts can be paid.

We can complain all we want but i have lost count of the amount of folk on here and elsewhere who had advocated speculation but moan about sevco doing just that.

Lets look after our own house and the rest will fall into place.

Cant say we will win every battle but we will win the war.

  2. Evening Timland from a very wet hun free mountain valley.

Last year it hardly rained at all, and I mean that, the Mrs has is written down somewhere but it is in the ball park of eight {8} hours all year, it hasn’t stopped for the past ten days, I have seen an outbuilding slide down the hill, thankfully it hit another outbuilding afore a house, that’s what they get for not putting in proper foundations, if you venture off the hard road surface you will get a few yards as the clay sticks to your feet and you can’t move, you really can’t move, I digress…….delighted it’s Oor Willie with the whistle at the weekend, better a useless ref than a bias cheat.

I said the other day that I can’t see us losing this, the more they hype themselfs up the more I can’t see us losing…………………for sure………..It’s the hope that will kill them again, and again and again, no matter how many times the hope will keep on killing them.

  3. The Huns and their many supporters from the turnstile loyal to the media men have every right to hope that they will overcome us. They are second in league, 6 points off us with upcoming 6- pointer, and have chance to beat us in cup semi fina. They will be talking about doing the double next.

  4. If we show up on Sunday we should win.

If we don’t we could well get our arses felt as we did versus the minis.

    All imho.

  6. its only natural for us to be a bit apprehensive about sunday, how many times over the years have we had the much better players, but when playing against them we are playing against 14 men, them plus ref and 2 linesmen, lets just go out and destroy them.ktf.

  9. I have been enjoying Simon Ferry´s interviews with Aiden McGeady, Scott McDonald and Charlie Mulgrew this week ( good one with Frank McAvennie too) hearing their version of events and tales from their careers at Celtic. It was great to see how seriously they took the games back then and the difficulties they faced. What they sometimes faced were difficulties inside the club too, but those guys never let the team down on the park and assumed the responsibility it meant in a city like Glasgow . That meant not speaking to newspapers at that time, who were putting an anti Celtic slant on everything and favouring a club which was not paying its taxes. Strachan and Martin and Lenny handled the media well too. Newco have a media war to wage. It´s always a battle at Ibrox so I would certainly echo Paul´s call for Calum McGregor to get the shout. Young Calum reminds me of the McGeady´s, Mulgrew´s, McAvennie´s and MacDonald´s , the heartbeat of Celtic, who gave their all when they pulled on the jersey. The most refreshing thing about listening to those Celtic heroes of mine was how they detached themselves from the nonsense that surrounds the Glasgow Derby. Anyway it´s eleven against eleven, anything can happen, sorry, twelve against eleven….or was that fourteen against eleven. ” C´est la Vie”

  11. If, Callum McGregor played in Brendan’s Cellic team

vs Murty’s Rangers team, in the previous two games

that’ll be the, 1-1 and 0-0 draws, what did CM do ?

Hopefully, it’ll be third time lucky for our esteemed

I was going to go out to watch the PSG Real game tonight, just heard that the bar is closed as the owner has decided to go to Paris for the game, must have been a hasty decision as I saw him at 11ish this morning, I dinny like the royals, but over PSG, I hope they qualify all day long, also my postie will be desolate if they don’t.

Saw you are eventually getting oot, be careful out there :-)

I would not play Commper, still bedding in.

Hendry is faster and fitter and was playing full time before move to us,to date been impressed with him and his attitude, went nuts at Pittodrie when KT scored winner, speedy and would nullify Murphy who is not quick at best of times.

    Worth consideration.

JF despite great season needs to strike form against them, cant afford anyone not 100 %.

  15. come on you coatbrig and glesga ghuys, im sure i used to get the blue train, from sunnyside station in coatbridge into glasgow, but cant remember which station, bear in mind back then there were 4 stations in glasgow, buchanan st, st enochs, central and queen st, how many still standing.

  16. KEVJUNGLE on 6TH MARCH 2018 7:15 PM

CMcG played and scored in 5-1 at Ibrox and 2-0 cup semi win last season. Also played in 2-0 at Ibrox this season and the 2-1 at Ibrox last season. You could say he’s a bit of an Ibrox specialist.

But then if you have an anti Celtic agenda you would ignore that wouldn’t you.

  17. EXCATHEDRA44 on 6TH MARCH 2018 7:46 PM

Wouldn’t mind seeing Hendry play on Sunday, especially in a back three. Could play him and Compper either side of Ajer and leave Jozo out since he has been the weak link recently. Doubt that’ll happen though.

  18. Bada@6.15

I owe VP and big G money. If they don’t say nice things they don’t get paid-)).

  19. **** LAST MAN STANDING 10 ****

    ***** JUST 3 MORE SLEEPS******

    *** But deadline is 7pm Friday ***

We have already achieved a magnificent 99 (ninety nine) entrants for the forthcoming competition. But fear not, you still have hours left if you want to join in. Last Man Standing 10, our last competition for this season, starts on Friday, 9th March 2018.

The competition will follow the same format as before and to win the entire prizepot, all you have to be is the Last (wo)man Standing at the end of the competition.

Not played before? Simply, select a uniquely different team from the list of football fixtures provided by us each week, and if you are the last (wo)man standing, then you win the prize. Remember you can only pick the same team once in any competition, so you need to decide when to play the big guns! Full rules will be emailed to everyone who shows any interest.

The cost to take part is £10 per entry ( you can have more than 1 entry if you wish), and just in case you falter in any weeks 1 to 3, then we even allow you to buy your history back for a further £10. How easy is that? Surely you must win it!

The prizepot is 50% of all entrance and “history buyback” fees, with the remaining 50% being paid over to good causes.

For LMS10, the remaining 50% will be split between our Lisbon nominated benefactor “CQN Helping OUR mate Mick” receiving 80% of the donated proceeds and our Seville nominated benefactor “Just another street dog”, a charitable cause that is run by one of our CQNers and his wife, receiving 20% of the donated proceeds.

You can read about these worthy causes here –

    http://mymatemick.com/

    https://www.facebook.com/Spanishstreetdogs/

So if you want to take part please send an email BY THIS FRIDAY AT 7pm to cqnpredictor@gmail.com saying “ Can I play” and we will send you emails detailing the rules, how to pay your £10 and, of course, the first week’s fixtures.

Please also feel free to encourage family, friends and work colleagues to join in, as the more that take part, means a bigger prizepot and more monies raised for good causes.

In LMS9, we had 137 entrants which was a record. It would be great to beat this record entry level in LMS10.

Oh and did we mention that the competition window slams shut (don’t they all) on FRIDAY 9th MARCH AT 7.00PM ;-)

  20. I’d be inclined to go with CalMac, but I’d leave Sinclair on bench, he’s had a strange season and struggled in last game v zombies. Not sure where his mind is at but be inclined to let him take his time to get 100%. He reminds me of Commons a good few of seasons back in that respect. Happens with confidence players.
