There will have been tired limbs at Lennonxtown when the players resumed full training yesterday after their exertions on Tuesday night but they will still be desperate to take to the field at Firhill on Sunday. This game is a necessary preparation ahead of the Amsterdam AreanA in 12 days.
We have an advantage for Amsterdam…..
Ajax are nip and tuck with a handful of clubs near the top of the Dutch league. They have three home games in the league and cup before facing Celtic and the pressure is on to win each of them. Ajax don’t have the ability to allow players extended recuperation time to ensure they are in pristine condition for Champions League duty, Celtic do.
I would rest everyone we don’t have good cover for. This is also a game for Nir Biton to start. The player needs to get back in the saddle as quickly as possible after Tuesday, he is also unlikely to see Champions League group stage action again this season.
After his international and other duties, Charlie Mulgrew would benefit from a rest. We don’t have sufficient cover for James Forrest and Beram Kayal, so send them away for the weekend.
Use every advantage possible.

I wouldn’t agree regarding Kayal, he got his goal and a good win under his belt and grew into a performance against Ajax, time to let him kick on.
Saying that the likes of Liam Henderson does deserve a chance after the U19s showing against Ajax as well.

Partick Thistle will be delighted to hear all this talk of don’t play this one and rest this one, particularly with them hittin form gubbin ICT last week. Not so sure we as a support are prepared to watch a shadow side drop more points, more so after Easter Road. Personally as chances are I’ll be at the game on Sunday I’d rather he put out a strong team. Difficult team selection for Neil, hope he gets the balance right.
In all the kerfuffle of Tuesday, I forgot to send my sincere congratulations to Frances for winning the Great British Bake Off – if only to wipe the smug confident grins off of the other two finalists.
Somewhat like what we did to the man who missed a penalty.
To the Bakers!
U
Ghyus/Ghirls….
Looks like I have a free day in Bern or Zurich 2morrow… any Celtic pubs in either???
I know the game isn’t till Sunday but will be back in the desert by then (overnight flight).
oooops..Bhoys
Keep (the) Port Inbred
well, that only applies to the frequenters of the Bouverie Rangers…if it’s still open.
Rest as many as possible before we play Ajax, give Fisher,Atajic, Balde and a few others some game time now.
—
Agreed
Fisher right back, mcgeouch right wing, biton and rogic in there and balde an pukki aswel.
Good to here kris and ledley should be fully fit for ajax.
Anyone know when derk is back ?
Bada – KC is currently ‘recuperating’ in Dubai….wonder if the holiday was booked before the Hibs game?! ;-)

What a load of rubbish you write about Peter Lawwell. Did you not know that he turned down an offer from Arsenal which would have doubled his salary? – or perhaps you have forgotten!
Kayal Playing Initially….then coming off after 70 minutes against Thistle having scored 2 games in a row
T4-now,now :)
SFTB,
and to think these hun trolls say that we are obsessive.
This PF character allegedly even goes so far as to pay money to attend Celtic Park, just so he can shout at the Celtic players………
Hunreal!
HAIL! HAIL!
Token
PS – even in his coupons he cant help it. Queens Park Rangers his nap every week! :-)
I agree P67, rest good for the must play guys. I’d sacrifice SPFL points at this stage. A win in Amsterdam would set us up nicely for more. £m ‘s….
No booking fees for Still Game tickets, well done guys.A rip off tax,i think tickets for Rod had £9.10 per ticket fee.
Cover Paul ?
Don’t talk to me about cover. I took Tuesday afternoon off to meet the Grey Brigade, and I’m still catching up.
Seriously, I would play BK this weekend, confidence is a wonderful thing in a player, and Beram must be brimming with it after his goal.
However, Neil will decide how he wants to play it.

I was just saying yesterday that sarcasm is hard to convey in print :-)
Joan Collins is in the Guardian feature “My family values” ……where she talks about her five husbands
and very little else.
setting free the bears supports Celtic’s best fighter- Wee Oscar Knox
Of course you’re factually correct, while he may have potential as a jogger as a football player his performance was abysmal, we can’t carry a passenger like Pukki, especially in Europe. I hope he was just overawed with the experience, has learned and will use the experience to improve. I just didn’t see any effort or desire to influence the game. Mr. Pukki should watch a video of Charlie Mulgrew, who although not the most talented footballer knows what it takes during the game.
whitedoghunch .
gotcha palomine .will post today.
ps again… the photo of THE LIONS is by HUGH BIRT.an original and has not to be coppied.
fed up with the Pukki bashers.
my observations, watching the game, and then watching again.
the bhoy followed instructions, ran all night, closed down space and opponents, retained the ball well several times while having 2-3 defenders around him , and still laid the ball off.
unless he was running his 12k around the pitch , i cant relate at all to those who called him lazy or uniterested.
watch the player for god sake.
Let’s see Fisher at FB again.
Ledley in MF to get him back to match fitness.
Maybe replace him late on with Rogic.
A youngster at CB for VVD?
Dylan to get a run on the wing.
Balde and Pukki upfront?
And a bunch of development squad guys on the bench. John Herron?
;-)
Vitali Klitschko to run for Ukraine presidency
SFTB to run for Celtic presidency
Maybe a Sarah Palin comeback is not an impossibility after all.
At the weekend I’m gonna install one of those sarcasm and irony filters that some CQNers seem to have.
SFTB – my apologies in advance for failing to respond your posts. ;-)

If the stage is situated as the same set up for Rod Stewart take your binoculars mate
As I said I was 229 which is pretty central….. the only way I could follow action was on the big screens
Stage shows like still game are more suited for your traditional type and size of theatre

Afternoon all. After the proverbial deluge, who’d a thunk it, he sun has just made, albeit briefly, an appearance.
By the bye, I’m already on record that we should wrap the likes of Lustig in cotton wool til we get to Amsterdam. Give the young lhads the experience of playing for the senior team.
….altho’ stating the obvious….
…….I know nowt about fitba,
I would not be resting players in the hope that it does them more good than a seemingly routine run out against our derby rivals…….
I think the Thistle game will be as tough as the Morton game……………..
Modren athletes should be able to take these games in their stride and more importantly form builds steadily……………………
