No bids for Tierney and none wanted

297

Despite reports to the contrary, Celtic have not received a bid for Kieran Tierney and are not impressed by media attempts to unsettle the squad.  Kieran recently signed a six-year contract.  Celtic expect the player to be an integral part of team building over the next several years.  Having only just turned 21, they also expect his value to continue to appreciate.

Celtic do not have to sell and do not want to sell.  We are a well managed club with money available to fulfill strategic plans.  We have recruitment plans and budget in place for this summer; we are not planning to recruit a first choice left back or spend an unexpected windfall.  This attention is unwelcome and a distraction from Champions League preparations.

I also hear Kieran’s agent is relaxed with the player at Celtic and not agitating for a move.  I suspect Everton have let their trusted outlets know they are interested in the player, but it has not gone beyond that stage.

    TONTINE TIM @ 12 50 Milan 1970 .

Milan was in the midst of an attempted General Strike . Year 3 of the so called Years Of Lead .. Policemen shot , terrorist bombings, political assassinations , the assassination of trade unionists , The Red Brigade , Neo Fascists ,Communists , Socialists , Maoists and Agent Provocateurs working for factions within the military who wanted to justify a Military Coup. .Gun fights in the street between anarchists and the State Police . Bombs on the public transport system . Lots of injuries .lots of deaths , school, big factories shut for months on end, schools shut , Universities shut etc etc. The last thing the city needed was a European Cup Final . There were no programmes because most of the printers were on strike..

*I was amazed at the hammer and sickle graffiti I saw on bridge abutments on the way from the airport to the city centre that morning. Although I had lived over here for a while returning during season 1969/70 I was still convinced Italy was a Catholic country. Then again most of the immigrants over here are southern Italians predominately Calabrese.

I don’t remember the locals supporting Feyenoord , my memory is of a city that simply couldn’t be assed with the hassle. of a big game in a stressed to breaking point city.

*the ones who could be arsed to attend tae game were.

I hope KT stays with us for his entire career. If he does go, in the timescale you suggest, the EPL-fuelled inflation should mean its £100m we demand.

I too am tired of selling great on the cheap and glorying in the subsequent 10% sell on clause.

THE SPFL has today announced some fixture amendments, with two of Celtic’s Premiership games subject to change.

  6. Would be sorry to see KT go , but when you see what is on offer to the lad , it would be hard to turn down . I have seen some great players leave for pastures new , but celtic are still here , and going strong . What does concern me though , is the price tag being bandied about ,

If it is correct , and KT could be on the move ( which I can’t see ) whoever agree,s to selling a player of his quality for that sum , doesn,t have the well being of our club at heart , and should be shown the door . I am scunnered with our players being sold for chicken feed.

Strange one. I can see why Armstrong saw this as a “now or never” moment, but not Tierney.

He could stay another 2-3 years at least and still have these opportunities, and almost certainly better ones than Everton.

Just have to see what happens I guess…..

  12. The feud between Dave King and the Takeover Panel has escalated, with a decision of its hearings committee indicating that contempt proceedings have been raised against Rangers’ chairman.

In December, the Court of Session ordered King to make an offer to Rangers shareholders of 20p a share.

King failed in an appeal against that decision and also failed to persuade the Takeover Panel to allow him more time to make the offer.

Now, as the panel announced it was refusing to convene its hearings committee to review that last decision, it appears King could face more serious issues.

Within the statement published today, the Panel says: “The executive went on to refer to an email of the previous day in which it had stated its intention to initiate contempt proceedings were Mr King to fail to procure the publication of an offer in accordance with the code within the time stipulated.

“It stated that, in the circumstances, it would initiate contempt proceedings in the Court of Session on 27 April 2018 if, by midnight on 26 April 2018, Mr King had failed to publish a code compliant offer.

“In the event, process in the contempt proceedings appears to have been served on Mr King in South Africa on 8 June 2018.”

  13. Released by the Takeover Panel today, 4th July.

This summarized version of events lays out King’s tactics to obfuscate, delay & avoid taking any meaningful action to comply & shows his ill-intent from start to finish.

His appeal to have the The Takeover Panel Committee convene to reconsider their Executive’s decision NOT to grant him an extension on the time limit within which he had to comply with the requirement to send out an Offer Document to other shareholders – has been rejected.

You’re skint & you know you are. – Another football fans choon for the occasion.

If Dave King is in soapy bubble, you can pretty much guarantee that the SMSM will have Celtic selling Dembele, Edouard and Tierney to Everton in a job lot. You heard it here first…

  16. Isn’t it interesting that the BBC describe the takeover panel stuff aas a feud when in fact it’s legal action being taken against King.

Only in Scotland could that be called a feud.

Ah good ole racist Scotland…..laws only count if you are in the minority…..

“Celtic expect the player to be an integral part of team building over the next several years.  Having only just turned 21, they also expect his value to continue to appreciate.”

Well that’s good news, KT’s has been a most peculiar hype…

Read about the done deal in detail yesterday as I was watching KT tearing down the (right) wing for us in Austria…

Although it was detailed in terms of fee and salary… if it was true he wouldn’t have been playing – simples…

We are in some position when we can afford to turn down the sort of transfer fee KT would command.

However, we could never match his EPL wages… so, we’ll see.

Dembele looks sharp… keeping him for another season would be huge…

Celtic – substrate eh! Could be the beginning of a Nation once again…
