CELTIC boss Brendan Rodgers is NOT interested in Scotland international centre-back Scott McKenna.
The champions have been linked with the former Aberdeen defender who is on the verge of quitting Nottingham Forest in this transfer window.
McKenna, though, is not on Rodgers’ transfer wish list, according to a report in the Daily Record.
That line of thinking matches that of Celtic book author Alex Gordon in his exclusive CQN column earlier this morning.
SEEING RED…Scott Brown gets his point across to Scott McKenna during a Celtic v Aberdeen encounter.
It appears the 27-year-old no-nonsense pivot would be available to join on loan until the end of the season with the option of a permanent deal when he comes out of contract at the Premier League outfit.
Rodgers did express an interest in McKenna during his first stint at Parkhead, but wasn’t impressed at the Dons’ asking price of £3.5million before the towering back-four performer’s switch to Forest in 2020.
He played a vital role in the club’s return to the top flight, but hasn’t figured since a 1-1 draw with Burnley in late September. It appears the defender has been frozen out in the midst of a contractual dispute.
The arrival of Nuno Espirito Santo, the Portuguese boss who lured Filipe Jota to Saudi Arabia in the summer, has not brought a change in McKenna’s fortunes and he hasn’t figured in the last three squads of the gaffer who has replaced the sacked Steve Cooper.
It has been reported there is interest across Glasgow at Ibrox while Turkish outfits Fenerbahce and Trabzonspor are also believed to be monitoring the situation.
One thing looks certain, though, and that is McKenna has not been targeted by Rodgers in the January Sales.
