No one offered Celtic job yet

1032

Roy Keane is due at a press conference in Dublin this afternoon and he is sure to be asked about Daily Mail reports this afternoon that he is set to be appointed Celtic manager as early as tomorrow.

It’s pretty clear Celtic have spoken to Keane but NO ONE HAS THE JOB YET, the Club are still speaking to a number of candidates.

We’re going to remain hostages to news reports for a while. The sooner things are sorted the better.

If you missed it earlier………

Bullshit the Saltire was hijacked. The Saltire is Scottish and Jacobite. Sometimes I used to think you actually knew what you were talking about.

RK is by no means in my top 5 of guys I want to see in the managers role at Celtic park but I’m not sure you can win the championship and be classed a failure.

Shouldn’t there be parity of esteem between the Saltire and the Tricolour at Celtic Park?

    If not, why not?

    ………………………………………………

I don’t think so but my view is no more valid than anyone else’s. Throughout the world we are associated with the Tricolour. I do love seeing Celtic fans waving the Saltire as well. I recognise that change is taking place and that my time – and views – are nearing an end along with my generation of Celtic supporters (though, hopefully, not for a good few years yet) and that Scotland is changing. A younger generation of supporters regard themselves as Scottish and have a higher regard for the Saltire than the Tricolour.

I’m still a Tricolour man. You can take the bhoy out of Coatbridge etc …

Keane – fight and empty hoose spring to mind.

We might get a laugh at wee Chic kacking himself when he has to interview the bold Roy (memories of Walter eh?) – but it would inevitably end in tears for us…

I remember being in a chip shop in Belfast. Can’t remember which one but I do remmber it was a republican area. I was with a mate who has a saltire tattoo on his arm.

And here’s the funny thing. The locals seemed to know as little about the saltire as I do.

  9. !!Bada Bing!! on

bankiebhoy1-HH I have no opinion really, one way or the other. Just joining in mate. Was surprised in Seville as I hadn’t noticed that many Saltires at a game of ours before.

  10. Hopefully keano gets it, the treble would be in the bag season 1 and a run in Europe. Players would be picked on form no pally pally act as Keane dosent do pals in football ( his words ) just what our team needs IMO

  11. The thoughts of a Sundarland supporting friend ….

No , he did the honourable thing and resigned , and we staid up

He was superb in the championship , bought about 100 players , think 2 good ones out of 100 , put them all on mad 5 year contracts , think daryl murphy was on £50k per week

He was sussed out in the end

He needs a top quality coach with him

I would put money on you not winnig the league (if RK is manager)

He couldn’t change a game with his substitions etc ,

The fat gerdy pasta eater was like a breath of fresh air with eric black as his side kick

    ….. not a great reference

Brogan, I watched the Maya Angelou clip on the Etims twitter page. Inspiring stuff. Its a pity none of the politicians behind her were listening to the words.

For all you gazebo guys, a gazebo like structure was being built at the junction of Springfield Road and Baltic Street today. I passed by it on my way to upper upper Burnside.

We are a club founded in Scotland and a member club of the Scottish football association, however as it is well documented in the history of how and by whom our club was founded i would always have the tricolour first, with the saltire proudly beside although a bit smaller and lower, very happy to have both

    ====================================

I don’t think things are that much different tbh.

Celtic will always have the Irish heritage so I don’t see too much changing.

The Irish music scene in Glasgow/Scotland is booming with bands like the Wakes, Amadans, Gary Og more popular than ever. And with young crowds.

  18. MON respects Keane enough to have him as his assistant. You can be sure DD will have asked MON’s opinion and therefore Keane will be pretty high up the list.

Whether he is at the top when all the pieces fall is another question.

Put it this way, he is the best prospect of the 3 odds on bookies favourites we have had so far this week.

Would quite like us to reclaim the saltire from the loyalist murals I saw in Belfast. And stick it side by side with the tricolour of my Irish cousins!

I remember back in the 70’s when a few friends and I went to Dublin for the Easter Celebrations and getting beaten up, or at least they tried, and it too kicked off in a chip shop, by locals who thought we were aliens.

Why do you so hate Scotland ever so much?

Keane is proven to be tactically inept and has the man management skills of a bull in a china shop. Of all the candidates mentioned in the last week, he’s the last one I would want to see appointed,

Was it that tactical ineptness that took Sunderland from relegation zone to promotion to EPL and kept them in the EPL the following season?

  24. Well, well a fleg debate but with a twist…

CELTIC…an Irish club founded in Scotland by Irishmen resident in their adopted home town city…Glasgow.

  26. Before I leave office today answer to second Q

The greatest temperature change in 24 hours occurred in Loma, Montana USA on January 15, 1972. The temperature rose exactly 103 degrees, from -54 degrees Fahrenheit to 49 degrees. This is the world record for a 24—hour temperature change.

Can you imagine walking along the road dressed for the extreme winter to be hit wae that.

    MWD says Aye

  27. !!Bada Bing!! on

gary67- Keane will know how PL operates, he won’t put up with him playing Football Manager 2014, along with John Park. DD would need to change and let the manager be his own man. That may be an expensive option DD won’t want to do. If he does change the set up, it could be the reason JP possibly moving to Norwich.

  28. MWD 16:03 Not sure but could be Irkutsk, Baykal lake terra. Temperature can go down +24C to -10 and pressure changes by 25 Hp within 12 hours. This and wrong habits of living make this place one with the very low life expectancy (?).
