No one offered Celtic job yet

1032

Roy Keane is due at a press conference in Dublin this afternoon and he is sure to be asked about Daily Mail reports this afternoon that he is set to be appointed Celtic manager as early as tomorrow.

It’s pretty clear Celtic have spoken to Keane but NO ONE HAS THE JOB YET, the Club are still speaking to a number of candidates.

We’re going to remain hostages to news reports for a while. The sooner things are sorted the better.

If you missed it earlier………

Didn’t want him near Irish team, a large percentage of Irish fans will never forgive him. He won’t last 12 months there. Pattern beginning to emerge already with results.

He will do so much damage to our team. Thankfully, he will be arrogant enough to ask for top dollar.

  6. I put trust in the headline of this article. Lawell + Desmond have no doubt sounded out + spoke to R.K… and then there was the alleged press conference this afternoon. Have people simply put 2 + 2 together and got 27…?

Interesting to hear, Dan Petrescu’s right hand man say that Dan has been approached by Celtic, and a proposal discussed. Then there’s Uwe Rosler…

Still im optimistic that there has been no one definately ruling themselves out, i.e Malky, Moyes… not herd from them or their representitives to say yay or nae

  7. I’m a reader, not contributor, to be honest, but I struggle to comprehend why RK would vaguely be considered as qualified to manage our club. As well giving it to another fan.

We are in a period of dominance in Scotland, this should continue ad infinitum if we box clever, if we continue to invest in our youth, seek out emerging talent and aim to pick up the odd gem then I am confident that we will see 10-in-row, however if we take on a manager who will demand a huge budget, has no track record whatsoever in developing players and antagonises just about everyone he comes into contact with, then we will be handing a lifeline back to our opponents within a few years.

Give me Stevie Clarke, Owen Coyle (helmet on!), or even John Collins before we touch him!!

Your Polish friend tells the truth. I have never been the soldier but my older brother served 2 years in special forces, jumpung with the parachute and all these games. He told me similar stories. In the Communism times Universities were for free. When you graduated from second school you had to pass examinations to the Uni. If the man did not pass them he did have to go into army for two or three years. For those who studied they made two months army school. You had no choice. I was lucky becouse I passed examination to independent University. They did not take the men from there into the army becouse they thought we would do to much damage to the perfect ideas of the Communism. No army for us was not Law but unwritten habit.

Re temperatures. Minus 25 C and high snow in January is as much likely as plus 32 C in June here. This winter I did not see snow and lowest temperature was -10C. +32 last Sunday and “only” +17 yesterday and today.

Hi,folks. The following post had been left unwanted and unread-except by those of us catching up-at the bottom of the last-but-one article. Canny have that!

An interesting point there. Ramos did brilliantly with Sevilla but flopped in other jobs while the club continued to enjoy success. It suggested that the club was well-run in terms of it’s scouting network, financial management etc and his job was to coach the team. McLaren and Twente also fit this example. While winning the Dutch league was a great achievement for Schteve, the club did well immediately before and after him while his career has been patchy to say the least.

We have a decent team off the field, a good scouting network and some shrewd (maybe too shrewd for some) economists that has left us in a good position. I personally think it’d be harder to get the next appointment wrong. The ex-Brighton manager interests me but I think he’d be odds on now for the Southampton job.

Let’s stay away from the emotional appointment (Larsson, Keane) and get Steve Clarke in. A good coach who can slip straight in to the successful set-up we have right now…

Roy keane worries me in terms of signing players. He signed some real dead wood from us in the past. That said I wish him all the best should he become our manager.

Keano worst price now with Paddy Power @ 2/9.

When the odds go that short,it begins to look increasingly likely that he will be our next manager.

Still not a certainty yet though, but if the odds shorten any further…

Roy was a consummate commander on the field of play, quite rightly regarded as one of the best.

While these skills are the ones that we as fans admire, I’m doubtful if any of these on- field skills transfer to the modern football boardroom.

Roy is a novice in the management realm and the contrast between his playing skills and his management qualities couldn’t be more stark.

South stand needs upgraded to the rest of the Gazebo standard. Can vaguely remember staring at the ole curved black pitch roof on the Jungle for the very first time.

  24. There must be someone out there who likes R K apart from me, yes he wouldn’t be my first choice and mistakes in the past may come back to haunt him but what occurred at Sunderland was seven years ago and people do learn, behavioural patterns change.

He does talk tactical sense and has plenty of experience of European football albeit as a player but experience none the less.

The level of abuse he is getting on here is more than a little concerning as people’s emotions appear to be running away with them and all he is a contender not the main man yet.

He is a Celtic man and the club is in his heart if he is the choice and the club is really in your heart as it is in his then we all deserve to give him that chance and show just a little bit more tolerance and respect, heaven knows we complain about it often enough when it doesn’t come our way.

There will be very little chance of him spending the way some suggest on here simply because he will not have the budget, someone else will be holding that and even RK will do what he is told regarding finance.

So come now Celtic lets put our emotions behind us, let not the heart rule the head.

At this stage he is a contender and if we are to believe all we hear a strong one at that so please cut the abuse he deserves more than that and we are made of better stuff.

    Faith in Celtic.

  29. Keano is no novice in management and is on record as saying he wanted to manage Celtic one day.

I think his day has come. Not my first choice but will command much respect in the dressing room.
