NO RODGERS-FLANAGAN REUNION

LIVERPOOL right-back John Flanagan, who was linked with Celtic, has agreed a season-long loan deal with Burnley.

The defender was reportedly a target for his ex-Anfield boss Brendan Rodgers who has admitted the Hoops need at least four new players.

However, Flanagan, 23, who played once for England, has ended speculation after switching to the newly-promoted Turf Moor outfit.

Flanagan was introduced to the Merseysiders’ first team by Kenny Dalglish in 2010, but his development has stalled, mainly due to a persistent knee injury.

Jurgen Klopp knocked back a bid to make the switch permanent and believes a full season under the guidance of Burnley gaffer Sean Dyche will return him to full fitness before he comes back next summer.

Flanagan, who has made 50 appearances for Liverpool, signed a long-term contract last year which runs until 2019.
