No to Newco Day

342

Despite of the most intense lobbying and doomsday predicting from chief executive, Neil Doncaster, SPL clubs have “overwhelmingly” voted ‘No to Newco’, finally rejecting the bid by one of Charles Green’s Sevco companies to form a team and gain access to the SPL.

This is the conclusion of what only last month looked like an unlikely grass-roots campaign which left several reluctant clubs with little choice but to accept the wishes of their supporters.

Neil Doncaster’s position is compromised after his ‘there is little difference between a CVA and liquidation’ campaign, as he contorted to win support for new rules which would make it easier for him to meet revenue targets.

The right conclusion has been reached.  Well done to all.

Any idea on the actual voting it may help silence a few critics and sceptics?!

  5. We need to stop for a minute and contemplate, do we all realise what this means ? Its no longer speculation or proposals, its cold hard fact, the hun is gone, there is no Rangers in any form in the top league of Scottish football

There may well be some short term financial cost to all in the short term but that vote is one of the most important decisions ever made by a sporting body in these isles. Congratulations to all concerned. Hopefully it will be the first step, of many, which will see Scottish football find a new model for the 21st century. Let us now help ensure that, if the SFL has to make a decision next week, it does so without fear or favour, and it does so based on its’ own rules on admission. Sevco should be eternally grateful if indeed they are admitted to Division 3.

…I predicted yesterday that a No decision today would spawn some excellent, honest journalism as the younger Hacks try to regain lost credibility – history will be rewritten – this time honestly. This is purely self preservation not an ethically driven probability.

For Keevins, Traynor, Chick etc – the ship has sailed they are left marooned on a delusion Island with no paddle or credibility..

    Malceye, last thread.

A start might be to let clubs that fail, well, fail. No extraordinary measures if you like. If Glasgow is only big enough to sustain Celtic and Partick Thistle, then so be it. No to Newco.

I think we have another three battles

    1) SFL 1 NO

    2) SPL 2 No

    3) Immediate entry into SFL 3 NO

Then we can start the war with the SFA the SPL and the SFL

    sweepstake:

How long before SEVCO are liquidated?

  18. SFL chief executive David Longmuir has told BBC Scotland that a decision will have to be taken over who replaces Rangers in the SPL.

“The SPL will have to create an invite for a replacement,” he said.

The SFL board will meet tomorrow ahead of full meeting of clubs next week to decide if the Rangers Newco will be allowed into the Scottish League set up.

    ……………………

Em, you have to ask for applications and there will be at least 2, one of whom will be a member of the SFA, with 3 years audited accounts and a playing squad. The other one will be Sevco!

Now if Sevco get the nod, I’m pretty sure the start of the SFL will be delayed due to legal action!

  19. So far 10 SFL clubs are against NEWCO in Division 1 – 5 more needed to prevent a majority

(Ridiculous that the majority is only 16 out of 30 – surely must be 20 out of 30 to be two thirds???)

  20. My money is on Dundee being Club 12 (In spite of them being Home 9 times at the same time as United). Don`t kow if they deserve it but overall crowds will be bigger with Dundee rather than the Pars in the SPL.

Loving the dramatic mood swing once again in evedence on CQN! An odds on result (saying No) comes in and , hey presto!, the site is all happy and everything is wondeful! I love being a Celtic Supporter.

  21. Now we have to hope the SFL clubs can hold their nerve too,

the statement from Clyde FC this morning shows how much pressure they are being put under, lets hope Doncasters attempt at blackmail has the opposite effect and strengthens those who oppose newco in SFL1

Note to Doncaster – follow the rules and let the NEW club start at the bottom, or preferably just tender your resignation. LOSER!!!!
