Despite of the most intense lobbying and doomsday predicting from chief executive, Neil Doncaster, SPL clubs have “overwhelmingly” voted ‘No to Newco’, finally rejecting the bid by one of Charles Green’s Sevco companies to form a team and gain access to the SPL.
This is the conclusion of what only last month looked like an unlikely grass-roots campaign which left several reluctant clubs with little choice but to accept the wishes of their supporters.
Neil Doncaster’s position is compromised after his ‘there is little difference between a CVA and liquidation’ campaign, as he contorted to win support for new rules which would make it easier for him to meet revenue targets.
The right conclusion has been reached. Well done to all.

SPL clubs vote ‘no to Rangers newco’ Celtic Fc chose not to vote as financially league would be better off with newco.
Mort,
On the away gate, I’d ask costs through damage be deducted
Mark Hateley says “Saying no is like a new signing for Ragers…”
Davie Provan “Waiting on the steps of Wembley to interview SPL chairmen as they leave the meeting”

Excellent lyrics in your version of Sympathy for the Devil – very clever :-)

Would Celtic be voting from. PLC stance? Trying to maximise income? not trying to justify it.
Did we abstain???????

That’s a joke, right?
Tell me that’s a joke. Seriously. Honestly.
Canamalar
He’s just text me do you have his number?
A seven-year-old boy was at the centre of a courtroom drama yesterday when he challenged a court ruling over whom should have custody of him. The boy has a history of being beaten by his parents and the judge initially awarded custody to his aunt, in keeping with child custody law and regulations requiring that family unity be maintained to the degree possible.
The boy surprised the court when he proclaimed that his aunt beat him more than his parents and he adamantly refused to live with her. When the judge then suggested that he live with his grandparents, the boy
cried out that they also beat him. After considering the remainder of the immediate family and learning that domestic violence was apparently a way of life among them, the judge took the unprecedented step of allowing the boy to propose who should have custody of him.
After two recesses to check legal references and confer with child welfare officials, the judge granted temporary custody to Ally McCoist’s team (the court their name was told that another court may decide what they will be called)whom the boy firmly believes are not capable of beating anyone.
Feck, I was joking about the abstention! Trust ht to bite…! :-)
Canamalar – you’ll need three seats together at CP, so you can’t fall out with the guys next to you! ;-)

For those of you all saying Celtic were right to keep quiet. It isn’y over yet. Somebody needs to stand up for the SFL clubs who are being blackmailed and threatened!
That should be us!
STV even trying to spin our reasoning for abstaining. Hunbelievable.
HH
Once Dundee or Dunfermine are promoted to the SPL, the SFL must initiate their well established processes for inviting applications from all interested parties to fill the vacancy that will exist in SFL3 once promotions throughout the leagues has taken place to fill the respective vacancies in SFL 1 & 2.
No exceptions, the rules applied without fear or favour.
BadaBing, think you’re joking @STVSport timeline doesn’t have such a tweet.
Can’t find that STV tweet Bada Bing posted anywhere!
Why did we abstain and yet everyone else voted?
Great day to be a Tim, GIRUY Regan, Ogilvie, Doncaster.
Bada bing,
Expected nothing less fr the former partners of the Hundead,
Abstention = vote not recognised
BHOYS-The STV message may be a rogue tweet, hold yer markers.
No thugs in our house, are there dear? We made that clear ….
XTC CFC
There was no such tweet from STV.
The abstention hasn’t been reported yet.
I just heard the news.
Well done to all the clubs who held their integrity over short term financial hardship.
Very well done.
Lhads, a note of caution:
Until further detail emerges, it is unclear what type of “no” vote this is:
Is it a “not now, until we find out what the SFL are willing to do for us. Come back in a week and we’ll let you know”?
Is it a “No, not SPL1, but wait a few weeks and we’ll have a nice feathered bed in SPL2 for you”?
Or is it a “not now, not ever, apply to the SFL and SFA in the usual fashion” affirmation of the financial and sporting integrity of the league?
Until we know which, I think vigilance on the part of those running the club and opinion formers like P67 is required.
awe naw
you got mail

Ross County could have abstained, not having kicked a ball in the SPL yet.
Bada
Was it you who emailed me earlier? Using my phone which doesn’t have e addresses saved on it.
If so, bloody brilliant!! :-)

From their thread…
A Hun writes…”Leave the SPL and SFA behind and apply to the English league and watch how quick Celtic try to follow us”
You see? Celtic are the mugs in this one!
Make no mistake their banishment from the SPL was all down to people power and the putsch from the people will carry on in the lower leagues.
They are doomed to at least going down to the 3rd and the fans of the SPL set the precendant that all the other clubs fans will now follow.
Hail hail to another great day for natural justice and the downfall of the corrupt Rangers whatever co you want to call them
This one’s for my Da, George, who passed away in Jan ’06. It would’ve taken a long time for him to believe it but the smile would’ve been worth waiting for. God Bless, Da, I miss you x
A prank tweet seemingly
STV Sport @STVSport
STV Sport understands,s on Celtiminded were going tonto at Leftys joke.#nottruebhoys
ht,
just text a number I’ve got, hopefully it’s no changed
Paul 67 (and others)
From previous thread, just before the momentous news came through.
Would suggest the idea and those put up by ‘GG and Mort subsequently is even more worthy of thought now.
We must do something to show visible support for the SFL clubs being threatened and blackmailed.
Paul67 (and anyone else who may be interested)
If Celtic FC are as appalled as most on here seem to be with regard to the blatant threats and blackmail emanating from the supposed custodians of our game to the so called “wee diddy clubs” then can I ask, assuming you feel the idea has merit, you put this to your Celtic FC connections
Celtic offer to play a pre-season game v.an SFL select chosen from the teams who say NO.
All proceeds from the game to be split among the clubs who voted NO.
This could generate in excess of £1m (assuming a full house @ £20 a head).
We could commit to such a game for the Sporting Integrity Cup (SIC for short because that’s what doncaster, regan and co would be) for say 2/3 seasons.
We could also offer to play a number of challenge matches through the year featuring our development squad.Again the proceeds going to those who voted NO.
This would provide opportunities to assess how our youngsters are developing.
At a time where integrity appears to be in short supply,I believe my framework idea would:-
1Help to thwart the plans of people intent on killing our game.
2.Support in a tangible way the stance taken by a number of SFL clubs
3.Greatly enhance the status of Celtic FC in Scotland and beyond
As I say, this is merely a framework idea which hopefully could be built upon.
We would need to make sure we had appropriate clearance to stage such events, but it would be interesting to see who might object and on what grounds.
Can I ask what Paul (and others) think
Celtic Silence vindicated…?
The rumour that Celtic abstained appears to be hun mischief making, going by the posts on the STV site.
I would urge all fellow Tims not to encourage it.
ht-it was me cant do linky thing here mate
Apologies to Rod Petrie
I just saw something that shows that I am wrong and that Hun continuation is a hun wet dream.
Cant show anyone what i seen out of respect for privacy. So please dont ask
