I remember going to Ibrox when news filtered through that we were so under-strength, left back-come-central defender, Charlie Mulgrew, was playing left mid. The portents were ominous but Charlie and the rest of the team did well in adversity. A similar attitude will be needed tonight as we will be without Scott Brown, Tom Rogic, Leigh Griffiths and James Forrest, the latter’s pace being a significant loss.
Leipzig are fifth in the Bundesliga, a point behind Bayern Munich and on a run of form which has seen them win four and draw two since their Europa League defeat to Salzburg, scoring 14 for the concession of three in the process. It is likely they are stronger than Celtic, but they are not as good as Salzburg, or the Bayern Munich team we faced a year ago.
You and I have seen this movie dozens of times but the outcome is not inevitable. We have also seen St Mirren and Kilmarnock take points of a vastly stronger Celtic this season, while Hamilton came close. Celtic can get something from tonight if they can defend as well as others in the SPFL do against us.
No white flags or towel throwing, let’s see if we can defend maturely.

OT post
Celtic v Hearts Sun 3rd Nov.
Looking at remaining tickets for Hearts league game and the only space is in section 119. I did think this was away support, but they must be in the next one – 120? Or is it 118?
Anyone know?
And as I’m taking my son, is it okay being this close to the Hearts away fans?!
Thanks in anticipation, HH
I blame Michael 0’Leary
TTT.
The tunnel picture. Let me step back a bit and see if I can get your brick in the picture.

David17 @ 12.48…..”We are an abject failure, irrelevance and occasional embarrassment at this level.”…strong words! though your notion is maybe shared by many…and it’s a shame! How quickly we’ve gone from ‘last 16’ to what we have experienced recently…I understand Uefa changed the rules to suit the broadcasters and the ‘big’ clubs/teams but we as a club have allowed ourselves to be left behind, possibly a consequence of the board’s ‘enough and no more’ philosophy after the death of the hun and since the ‘Rosemary’s Baby’ style rebirth. :-)
I hope talks took place following the summer let-down and any conflicting issues have been resolved…perhaps we’ll see a statement of intent in the next transfer window…and then again, maybe not…
Jam farts are in 120.
Get yourself the tickets and treat the Bhoy.
Hurry not so many left.
St Stivs,
hahaha! take about 4 steps back and around the bend and aim slightly to your left then…. :-)
HAIL! HAIL!

WeeBobbyCollins
I blame Rosemary’s ?
See the 3 early Christmas presents Hearts gifted Sevco, hopefully they have some in store for us.
Although goes without saying, I severely doubt it.
Thisbhoywonders, Even allowing for a large space with segregation, I had a look at the tickets available on the stadium map. You would be in the middle of section 119, looks a good bit away from the away fans. Never sat in that area so not sure. Remember the segregated passage will be filled with stewards.
Ruggyman
Yeah – you would think the seedings were the other way around. All we can do is to do our best. If we qualify from this group it will be a real achievement.
The juggernaut that is StevenGerrardsRangers will come crashing to a halt at some point. The more hyped up they get the harder the landing will be!
thisbhoywonders
Snap them up while you can, you will be among your fellow Celtic supporters, and usually among some real Scottish and Irish characters. As for the Jambos, no pasaran.

Are you sure you are in the right stadium?
Random sharing an annoyance for today.
How come we have a capacity of 60400 but when we sell out like Aberdeen and Hibs game there is only 59000 or 58500 attendance reported ?
Hibs game the single ticket seats round to the Hibs fans are sold out. So on the day it means over 1000 season ticket holders don’t go through the gates. Why is this.
My own ticket for these the European games was passed on and used. Are people worried about the Celtic plc edict that only you can use your seat.
Same on championship winning day and flag Day. Emory’s seats in season book areas why is this.
Use it or lose it I say.
Ps. The empties around me always occupied for the zombie monkey Huns games.
Emery’s seats. I made a dick of that.

Worth a read, I think. Relevant.

Murrayfield has a capacity of 67000.
Celtic sold out 30000.
Hearts are over 29000.
Who has the other 8000 seats. Who is selling them how do you get one ?

Please ask the mods to delete that post. It may not have been your intention, but I think that, to someone reading that, it could come across as rather homophobic.

Benkovic is the biggest loss tonight.
___________
It’ll be a huge loss if Benkovic is also out tonight. He looks like the best prospect we’d had there in years. Would love to see him stay (pie in the sky I know).
I’m hoping for a good performance tonight. As others have said, let’s make the two games with Leipzig like a two legged draw. Although I think, if two teams end up in the same points, it goes to goal difference first then head to head. Given Leipzig gave already won in Norway, that puts them in the driving seat. At least a draw tonight please.

Oh you are awful :)

KTF.
Yes our game tonight is a challenge. We should be up for the challenge.
European football is where legends are made and legendary nights are remembered.
It is one thing to be top dog in domestic football where we have a massive financial advantage. It is another to compete and triumph when we are underdogs.
COYBIG. Get inta this 9 year old fabricated team.
??This is the day that we win away??
C’Mon the Hooooooooooops.
Just give it your all Bhoys and you never know.

Each team got 30k, the other 7k are corporate hospitality, sponsors and SPFL keep some to distribute amongst other clubs
Reporting from Santiago de Compostela resplendent in the hoops
Saint Stivs at 2.29 –
Although we have something like 60,400 seats I our stadium it’s almost impossible to fill them all. The 2 main issues are, I think (a) the ones in front of the police control box which aren’t always sold and (b) any blank rows lost to segregation. Even when we Play some of our friendlier teams there are still 4 or 5 columns of seats left empty. I think there’s about 55 rows in the lower tier, so leaving a gap of say 5 for segregation immediately loses you about 275 bums. Not sure thst we’ve EVER had a crowd above 60,000 in the new stadium for a football game.
St Stivs @1.13 pm. Could the following be the players in the picture? Bertie taking the corner, Big Billy Jinky, Wallace, Murdoch around the box, Craig outside, Gemmell further back and John Clark partly hidden by a Thistle player.
At 79 the eyesight not great, so doing a bit of guess work.
So on a day when the Scottish MSM is reporting on Goats in Scotland what would the animal right activists consider more disturbing Goats hooting or Goats hagging???
Wasn’t full of hope or anything until I looked at twitter and saw that Hearts Steven McLean would like to see us get pumped tonight.
Then I saw our fans arriving in Leipzig railway station and the wee video gave me goosebumps.
Then I saw a Daily Record report stating that Celtic supporters were fighting outside a Berlin club. 8 arrests of some men involved and another 4 who it sounds like were on the other side of the fight got away under police pursuit. Am I correct in assuming that Celtic supporters don’t fight with themselves and that Berlin is close to Hamburg? There were apparently English football fans there too though the report doesn’t say what team they support.
On tonight’s team.
I would definitely play Lustig before Gamboa. Only drop Lustig if some fitness issue.
I would play Gamboa on the right to support Lustig if they have pace down the left side.
Hoping for a draw, I would go
Gordon
Lustig, Boyata, Jozo, KT.
Gamboa, Kouassi, Ntcham, Malumbu, Calum.
Odsonne
Christie, Morgan and SS only required if we need a goal later.
Eurochamps67
WhateverbrendandecidesIwillsupportCSC
Reported team is –
Gordon
Gamboa
Simunovic
Boyata
Tierney
Kouassi
McGregor
Morgan
Christie
Ntcham
Edouard
If we do ok then great if not Rodgers gets another opportunity to criticise Summer transfer window.
@ MULLET AND CO 2 on 25TH OCTOBER 2018 3:59 PM
That’s a very weak team up top and not enough protection at the back. I’m assuming that SS and Lustig must also be injured, otherwise I’m unsure why they aren’t playing.
