Some solid performances all over the park 1st half…2nd half….we were poor for long periods…or playing within ourselves…it’s a long long season when it starts lol

  2. Disagree Ron, thought Boli did extremely well tonight, Most new bhoys need a few games to settle in anyway, do you remember Henrik. Kidding aside I think both will be fine if Schved keeps hitting them like the one tonight he could score a shed full for us this season.

I would think the oft vaunted 5-0 of yesteryear would suffice for top spot.

Is there any chance of someone putting up a link to the Shved goal? My CTV feed went down and I missed it.

A pair of Rangers -daft pensioners have been told to take down flags outside their homes – because they might be deemed offensive.

Duncan 70, and Joe 74, from Troon , South Ayrshire, are next-door neighbours and have adorned the backs of their ground floor flats with Saltires, Union Flags and Rangers FC flags for around six years.

However, at the beginning of July, Joe was approached by a council warden who works at the sheltered housing area where they live, and warned him that the flags could offend people.

Days later, on July 10, the two friends received letters from South Ayrshire Council concerning ‘flying of flags in council tenancies’.

The notice stated the flags could incite anti-social behaviour, cause potential vandalism to their homes or gardens, and that football flags or other flags may cause offence and complaints.

Former landscape gardener Joe, who has lived in his flat for nearly 10 years, said he has never had any bother in the past about flying his flags and thought the council’s response was “heavy-handed”.

Grandfather-of-three Joe said: “Five or six years ago I just had the Lion Rampant and the Saltire up and nobody said nothing.

“Then two to three weeks ago a woman came by and said ‘you can’t have those flags there in case it offends people’.

“She said even the Lion Rampant and the Saltire are offensive.

    “I said ‘it’s just a flag, I couldn’t care less’.

“Then about a week or so later we received letters.

Neighbours Duncan and Joe received letters from the council about their flags (Image: SWNS)

“The letter was very abrupt, somebody should’ve came out and told us.

“It’s my backdoor, same as Duncan’s.

“So if there’s two flags here who can see them, you can’t see them from the front.

“You have to go out of your way to see them.

“I stayed in England for a while and they had St George’s Cross flags everywhere.

“I’m quite surprised about the letters coming through.

    “I think it’s quite heavy-handed.”

Widower Duncan, a former coal miner, has lived in his flat for nine years and was and was also left baffled by the council notice.

He has a Rangers flag flying outside his back door from a flagpole has a Rangers crest on his garden gate.

Grandfather-of-four Duncan said: “Who would do this?

“It’s either a neighbour or a warden, but we don’t know.

“I’m very surprised we’ve been asked to take them down.

Joe Stirling has been asked to take down his flag (Image: SWNS)

“It’s the only thing we have left to enjoy is our football – it’s terrible.”

Joe added: “What’s the point in selling flags if you can’t fly them?

“I was going to put a flag up of Mickey Mouse, but I think Donald Duck will be offended.”

A spokesman for South Ayrshire Council said: “It was brought to the council’s attention that a football club flag was displayed on council owned property, this is discouraged.

“Following the letter being issued, housing staff made the offer to meet with the tenant to discuss this further, but unfortunately this has been declined. However, we are still hopeful that a meeting can take place.”

Thought Morgan really came into his own when released from right wing duty and allowed to roam across the field, the bhoy is going to be a star if allowed to play that role ore often.

  10. Yep Jim, 5 nil would do fine. However I must admit, I’m breaking my own rules with that kind of talk,

I normally go nuts when ghuys go on about winning by 4 or 5 or whatever, for me it’s always been just get the 3 points & job done. I think I’m still in pre-season, once the League action commences, I’ll cop myself on.

I’ve haven’t read many of yours posts – in fact just one. Not impressed so far ;-)

Serious question – how long would you give a new player to settle into a new team, maybe even in a new country before you had made your mind up ?

  12. Same for me, Tony. I was actually having a gentle jibe at those who feel we used to always win 5-0 in the good ol` days :-))

Three points will be fine by me. We don`t have a natural right to beat other professsional sides.

    S. Lanarkshire has been SNP run since May 2017.

Have they done anything about the flags that proliferate in parts of Larkhall, Coalburn and Stonehouse?

    Are they Sh***bags too?

North Ayrshire has the same number of SNP and Labour councillors but flags fly in Dreghorn & Irvine

East Ayrshire has a Minority SNP administration but flags fly in Cumnock and New Cumnock.

South Ayrshire has a mixed administration with SNP as the largest grouping but flags fly in Troon and elsewhere.

Seems no-one has the guts to tackle this?

A chance for some players to strut their stuff and stake their claim (or play for a transfer in Ntcham’s case).

We did not concede and we won on aggregate 7:0

It still led to a description of “utterly abysmal” and a couple of players selected for the Great Big Glasgow Airport Trip.

This is what our players are up against.

  17. Yep. Bada. That’s why Lenny played them & rested Kris, I’d say it will be Boli, Ajer, Bitton & Elhamed as our back four on Saturday. Thought Bitton played very well tonight.

  18. glendalystonsils on

    !!BADA BING!!

You’re right , I forgot about that. I would have liked one or both of them to have had another game before Cluj on Wednesday.

I imagine it will be Bitton and Ajer for Saturday then.

I had a look at the Romanian U-21 squad last week and I think all that played had already been snapped up by Italian, Spanish and German clubs.

I did not see a Cluj registered player.

Nevertheless, though we are favourites, Q.3 was always going to see a tougher match and Cluj will give us a tough game. Even if we draw the first leg away, I will not count my chickens.

But first, I aim to enjoy the St. Johnstone game and the Kano bucket collection.

Martin Kane was a fine man.

is dosent take long when you closely watch a player and base it on his own individual performance , you can tell a player without having to base it on how they link with teammates that comes overtime but individual quality is spotted early.

  22. Back of the packet calculations – but I think there is a chance scotland might be top of the coefficient rankings for the season so far. This is significant as the top 5 leagues get loads of coefficient points for automatic CL qualification (2.248 starting point for England) so this means we have overtaken them. Stats so far 12 played, 10 wins and one draw (10×2 + 1×1)/(4+2) = 2.625 which is now above the starting coefficients of the top leagues . keep this going and automatic CL qualification could be as few as two years away.

  23. excathedra44 on

    Pleased to progress.

Thought Morgan,Bitton and Boli did well, plus Griff involved with both goals.

Ralston looked like he was scared to be too adventurous in case he made an error.

Sinclair has now adopted a role to retain or pass, but not attack the full back, other than a nice curling effort he did not do much of note.

For me I would retain Gordon in goal,Bain has done OK but I think perhaps he forgets he died and went to heaven, and even as a number two he should consider himself fortunate.

If he does not agree with NL (allegedly ) for whatever reason, then a return to Elgin or Alloa could be arranged.
