In a little over five hours, Nomme Kalju are in domestic league action, their 20th game of the season. 2018’s champions are level in the battle for third place with tonight’s opponents, Paide, so this will be a competitive encounter. All things considered, the forthcoming games against Celtic are less important than finishing third and qualifying for Europe next season.
They are five points off second and 10 from the top of the table. It has been a disappointing campaign for the two-time Estonian champions, the most significant positive being this week’s Champions League qualification win in Macedonia over Shkendija.
Like Kilmarnock, who went down to the other CQN last night, Shkendija are preseason, and having won away, should comfortably have taken care of business in the second leg, but weakness in the other kind of legs is likely to have been their downfall. Both teams were clearly drained from their first competitive action of the season, leading to bizarre results.
Nomme probably have the lowest economic footprint of any club Celtic have faced in European football (Lincoln Red Imps may just edge them). Wednesday’s game at Celtic Park will certainly contribute more to the economy than their entire 2018 exploits. This tie is a fairy tale for Nomme Kalju, who will transform their 2019 economic footprint with TV rights for the home game, and a gift to Celtic, who had the far tougher task of overcoming Rosenborg at the same stage a year ago.
The European draw gods were unkind last season, let’s hope they continue to pitch softly to us for another few rounds.

Celtic held back by Who?
Petec 8.37pm
29th December – shocking all round from management right through to players …. after winter break was what actually mattered NOT the last game before the winter break
Other Ibrox defeat – league was won and the Sevs were chasing the “top 6 invincibles” title .. which Killie spoiled
Some teams can win when the pressure is off :-)

Tin hat on, but I don’t think that we want Sevco to get bombed out of Europe. If we qualify for CL/EL and they don’t, that could have a negative impact on us in terms of an extra six (or more) midweek games to play.
Secondly, and perhaps more importantly, I have been poring over the intricacies of National co-efficients recently, and was surprised to notice that if you take last season in isolation, Scotland occupy tenth place. The five year listing (which is what counts towards the access list for the competitions, i.e. determines which stage clubs from any country join the Circus) has us in twentieth position. If we could occupy fifteenth position, the SPFhelL Champions would go straight into the Group stage of the CL. The teams above us, up to fifteenth are not far ahead. Apart from Killie last night, we (Scotland) have started well, with Killie winning the first leg, and Celtic, Aberdeen and Sevco winning both legs, we have gained seven points out of eight so far available to us. If we can qualify for the CL groups, and Aberdeen or Sevco, or both (I know) can qualify for the EL Group stage, we should gain enough National Co-Efficient points to at least remove us from the first and second qualifying rounds next season.
For the avoidance of doubt National Association Co-Efficients are separate and unconnected to Club Co-Efficients. Food for thought.

Ryan is the Main man Domestically. I’d say Callum is that dude against the Top Teams.
I Hope Broonie gets into Coaching soon, like now.

Hunderbirds- If Sevco get papped oot,it blows the same klub bollocks out the water,so a pub team from Gibraltar, could do more on this than our gutless Board HH

Thankfully the co-efficient nonsense will be down to a Club basis…
A Broonie/Lenny axis would be Good.
Broonie is stifling the players in the Centre. Callum is a much better player, and showed it well against a good German Team.
Callum was Amazing that night Given defensive responsibilities.
A lot more mobile – Celtic Won as well.
There was pressure on as well.
This Ibrokes game is mega.
Bada
Aware of that, but just don’t think it’s going to happen. They are being protected by someone or something. If they do get pulled on a registration technicality now, I will eat ma tin hat.

First game @ Ibrokes…..
A defo 0-0 or 1-0.

9 in a row is Back on. ;()
Hunderbirds- i agree, and also with the point of sevco having more games mate, get the Brasso oot for the tin hat..😆
