NON-STARTER ANGE

ANGE POSTECOGLOU will NOT be making an immediate return to manage Celtic following Brendan Rodgers’ dramatic resignation on Monday.

The 60-year-old Greek-Australian is planning a complete break from football, according to the Scottish Sun.

Postecoglou, who won five trophies in his two years at Parkhead before quitting for Spurs in June 2023, has been tipped by many for a Hoops comeback with former goal hero Chris Sutton insisting he was “the obvious choice”, as CQN reported earlier this week.

THE LAST HURRAH…Ange Postecoglou says farewell to Celtic by completing the domestic clean sweep following the Scottish Cup Final win at Hampden in June 2023.

But Ange intends to take some time out after his extraordinary sacking at Nottingham Forest after only THIRTY-NINE days in charge during a sequence in which he failed to win in eight games.

The one-time Celtic fans’ favourite had suffered the same fate at the London club in June, despite guiding the team to a Europa League success.

Reportedly, Postecoglou will now have a rest period while he considers his next move.

Former boss Martin O’Neill was placed in charge of the champions in an interim basis and led them to a 4-0 win over Falkirk at Parkhead last night.

Now the 73-year-old Irishman is preparing the squad for Sunday’s Premier Sports League Cup semi-final against Ibrox opposition at Hampden.
