It is surely no coincidence that Norwich City accepted Celtic’s offer for Adam Idah, reportedly £8.5m up front with another £1m dependent on results and a 15% sell-on fee, within hours of the club being sold to an American investment group.
On accepting the deal for Idah, City added £8.5m to their balance sheet – approximately 12% of the club’s net book value. It was a deal outgoing major shareholder Delia Smith was clearly motivated to accept before City’s new investors arrived.
That deal is still significant. It will inevitably reach £9.5m, which, in time, will make Adam our most expensive signing ever. It is also less than the asking price Celtic were faced with until this week; the sell-on percentage is also less than it was.
Adam reminds me of Mark Viduka. Strong and skilful on the ball, he can control a long ball and bring others into play. Without Adam coming in on loan in January, I don’t think we would have got over the line in so many crucial games in the run-in. The league would have gone elsewhere, and who can forget his contribution in the Cup Final?
There is still a medical to complete before the deal gets over the line. Lots happened elsewhere yesterday. We’ll touch on Bosun Lawal, Bojan Miovski and others later in the week.

Sevco legned Ryan Jack allegedly trying on a new football boot said, “It’s too tight”.
Trainer… “Try it with the tongue out”
Ryan… “It’th nho ghood, it’th thtill thoo thight”.
What’s pictures of the Armagh team in training doing on this sight?
O’Shea going to Brentford is on the cards,he would have been a good addition, we move on ,but who was also on Brendan Rogers list ,surely there must have been more than one player to fill the centre back position,
SFTBS @ 5:31 PM,
Here’s my thoughts….
After him being in the doldrums at Norwich City, Celtic take Adam Idah on loan, BR has seen the young Idah and knows the lad has something about him
He comes to Celtic and has a phenomenal five months.
Norwich City see his potential and his price rockets from the valuations being banded about in January.
Celtic aren’t willing to pay the inflated price but Brendan Rodgers wants him back in.
Norwich stick to their guns, Brendan Rodgers sticks to his guns so eventually the Celtic Executive go back in and finalise the deal.
Adam Idah cost more than many of us expected but will turn out to be great bit of business for Celtic.
Hail Hail
Absolutely brilliant programme

Totally agree, forgot how good we were in the CL in those days moreover how dangerous we were at corners.
TnT2 must have a celtic programmer 😅🤣😂
On the excellent CELTIC EXCHANGE INTERVIEW with David Low he estimated 25% of shares are owned by “ordinary fans”.
but that overtime a high number of these have become inactive, due to change of addrees, inhertiance etc etc. Basically the fans who bought them did it to have a share certificate and to refloat the club and support Fergus, but since then they pay little attention to agm, voting, dividends or even being on the register.
There is to be a SHAREHOLDERS ASSOCIATION st up which will try to match names to shares and get then interested again.
i do say dearie me when people trumpet they are hoarding my money, our money, they aint, even if you a a shareholder. 3.6p per share is the set dividen, if you dont use it you lose it.
why would an owner dilute their shareholding by issuing more shares in the company ?
fan ownership outside of germany, is unworkable.
celtic supporters are back in the apathy zone.
complain and moan, but keep on buying.

At the time of the Cyclops it was ‘Blind Spot’
who really owns celtic –
Dermot Desmond is the club’s largest shareholder, occupying 34.64% of the shares,
Christopher David Trainer holds the second largest amount of shares at 11.02%
As the third largest shareholder, James Mark Keane holds a 6.247% stake in the club
Lindsell Train – 5.9%
Thomas Allison holds a 3.549% stake in Celtic
Bank Lombardy – 1.12%
ergo – 62% of the plc is owned by 4 families and 2 investment trusts.
Below this another hundred or so investor with 0.05 and above shareholding, including Peter Lawwell and the Greenock Celtic club.
—————–
These is believed to be another 14,000 INDIVIDUAL Shareholders with around 30% ownership.
The shareholding need a crisis to acutally lift their heads to be interested.
Go to official Norwich FC Website
Read offical statement re transfer of shares to Norfolk Holdings (and level of debt) and forthcoming share issue. Could not be clearer.
nb No mention of Adam Idah.

Rather than reading guff on blogs by people with opinions, i would recommend this to explain Celtic ownership. and the PLC model. Also good explanation of Trading Statements.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b2-Xj3DHrg4
—————–
David Low is best known to Celtic fans as Fergus McCann’s right hand man from the 1994 takeover of Celtic.
The financial analyst has remained close to all matters Celtic in the years that have followed and joined us this week to provide some clarity on the structure of the club at this time.
Our share price has rocketed in recent weeks (July 2024) causing much speculation amongst supporters.
David explains why this might have been, and provides the background on what has resulted in the leadership we see at the club at this time.
Are we at risk from unsavoury, or unwelcome ownership? Does every club (/every man) have their price?
Enjoy this special feature with David Low – a man with notable experience on the ownership of Celtic Football Club.

Worth noting that Mark Keane and Chris Trainer are from strong Celtic supporting families and attend at least as many matches as I do. Which is about 75% each season.
I mean they and their families are committed fans as well as shareholders. That is 18% or so.
Saint Stivs
Chris also owns Raddison Red Hotel and the adjacent old Rotunda site who knows how that might fit with the long mooted Hotel plans for Celtic Park.
MARSPAPA
Same . Hope they are better on the counter attack 👍
Hoping to be proved wrong but Kiev had no belief and no heart in the last game. I think it is rangers game to lose tonight.

I dont ever think that anone on the board or in the exec structure is not a celtic supporter. i just dont buy that classification from the hysterical.
they might be tories, but tthey are still celtic supporters.
as a voting pac though, i doubt anybody is going to vote against anything that DD wants, they support the plc stratgies.
again contrary to opinion, i dont think they are in it solely for money, that might be an outcome but i do think they all wants whats best, and that they even know how best to do it.
as witnessed by the accounts.
