Norwich accept Celtic offer on cusp of club sale

396

It is surely no coincidence that Norwich City accepted Celtic’s offer for Adam Idah, reportedly £8.5m up front with another £1m dependent on results and a 15% sell-on fee, within hours of the club being sold to an American investment group.

On accepting the deal for Idah, City added £8.5m to their balance sheet – approximately 12% of the club’s net book value.  It was a deal outgoing major shareholder Delia Smith was clearly motivated to accept before City’s new investors arrived.

That deal is still significant.  It will inevitably reach £9.5m, which, in time, will make Adam our most expensive signing ever.  It is also less than the asking price Celtic were faced with until this week; the sell-on percentage is also less than it was.

Adam reminds me of Mark Viduka.  Strong and skilful on the ball, he can control a long ball and bring others into play.  Without Adam coming in on loan in January, I don’t think we would have got over the line in so many crucial games in the run-in. The league would have gone elsewhere, and who can forget his contribution in the Cup Final?

There is still a medical to complete before the deal gets over the line.  Lots happened elsewhere yesterday.  We’ll touch on Bosun Lawal, Bojan Miovski and others later in the week.

Only a short trip to be fair

  3. what is the implication of the result at Hunden tonight in terms of the coefficient –

ie will the result tonight affect us having to play qualifiers which the club need like a hole in the head.

  4. Prestonpans bhoys on

Dire game, if I was a hun in the front rows of the Celtic end, I would get further up the stand to watch the game 🫣

  5. The huns will be cream crackered by Christmas.

That Hampdump pitch will suck every once of strength from them.

It is most definitely a chink in their armour

  6. Quality text commentary from the BBC pundits on the hun game…

Again that’s great play down the right-hand side from Rangers.

Lawrence, just get a connection on a first-time strike, but again he’s having a touch.

    😳🤷🏼‍♂️😂😂😂💩

  7. One of the commentators used the expression, a chink in their armour to describe a relatively poor dive by the Chinese diver in the Olympics, fully expected the sh*t to hit the fan, nothing came of it.

Incidentally what did the sh*t hit before the fan was invented?

    Mon the Ukraine!

  9. Don`t know if I can watch anymore. I think Vera at 9 pm is more likely :-))

A draw looks likely. 0-0 or 1-1 I would guess.

  10. Not great fare. Hope the BBC aren’t paying too much for it.

    Salsburg await the winner.

  11. Wow – if I had to watch that every week, I’d be a raging, antisocial twat with an attitude problem.

Oh, wait a minute……cause and effect in real time.

    Good chat re ownership.

Chairbhoy – from list provided by Saint Stivs – only the 7% owned by the two institutions irks me.

Based on current share price this is c. £14m worth?

    A lot to buy out.

Maybe us ordinary fans can buy 1,000 shares from them … and repeat 7,000 times.

If we make a trade once a day it’ll only take around 20 years and probably no one will notice.

    Good luck Kwon.

There might be a player in there.

Hibs midfield is dreadful so there’s a chance he’ll impress.

It would be nice if he came back for season 25/26 ready for the first team ….

…. but I suspect he’ll take the Lawal trail and we’ll get a few quid in.

Hmm, two teams that certainly look like they’re in the infancy of their seasons.

A lot of slack play in a cagey affair at Hampden.

    Very little between them.

    Say it again, Allan.

    And then there’s Derek Ferguson…

A lot to like about Rangers, I think they’ve been at it right from the off and put Kyiv under pressure in terms of the high press.

The deliveries have been excellent, certainly from Tavernier, and McCausland has had some bright moments too, he’s shown great energy and drive.

I wish the finishing could just be a little bit better.

Blue tinted specs or what? They really are a different breed.
