Norwich accept Celtic offer on cusp of club sale

It is surely no coincidence that Norwich City accepted Celtic’s offer for Adam Idah, reportedly £8.5m up front with another £1m dependent on results and a 15% sell-on fee, within hours of the club being sold to an American investment group.

On accepting the deal for Idah, City added £8.5m to their balance sheet – approximately 12% of the club’s net book value.  It was a deal outgoing major shareholder Delia Smith was clearly motivated to accept before City’s new investors arrived.

That deal is still significant.  It will inevitably reach £9.5m, which, in time, will make Adam our most expensive signing ever.  It is also less than the asking price Celtic were faced with until this week; the sell-on percentage is also less than it was.

Adam reminds me of Mark Viduka.  Strong and skilful on the ball, he can control a long ball and bring others into play.  Without Adam coming in on loan in January, I don’t think we would have got over the line in so many crucial games in the run-in. The league would have gone elsewhere, and who can forget his contribution in the Cup Final?

There is still a medical to complete before the deal gets over the line.  Lots happened elsewhere yesterday.  We’ll touch on Bosun Lawal, Bojan Miovski and others later in the week.

    The only place I’m seeing rage and anger is on here. Leaving that game I could hear a pin drop. We’ve created apathy where we partly ( mostly ) expect to fail. We are chock full of barely average players on large wages. We’ve already started our long term injury list four games in. Hampden is utterly horrendous for atmosphere.

     

     

    And finally this all lies at an incompetent board.

     

    Anyone that doesn’t see this season will be an utter train wreck needs sectioned. Meanwhile I’m now conditioned to shrug my shoulders as no one running the club seems to care.

     

     

    Apathy is much worse than anger.

    They created even less than us. RM gets more power on shot and we could be 1 up, Lawrence controls the ball properly and it’s another chance, Desser’s has a header too. They had couple decent crosses with no on near being on the end. We keep 11 on the park I think we’d have been more likely to win than them.

    Isn’t that the problem tho, we very rarely see a ball hit with any venom, our players take an age to control ball, Dessers headers have been also soft. We are never on the front foot to anticipate half chances (the one that fell to Lawrence in first half for instance that he list in his feet). Ball watching, not winning 2nd balls.

     

     

    Watch any of the pre-match shouting drills(the Huns have shouting drills 😂) at Ibrox last season and we are lucky if we hit 1 out of 10 on target. We are really poor at the basics.

     

     

    And I don’t just blame Clement for this, we’ve been poor at the basics the last few managers

    Deluded …

     

    Hard to take and I feel sorry for Jefte but is he a full back and is being played as a winger. Some beside me said Jefte should come off with Sterling in his place. Jefte is young with much to learn but could in the future be a good left back.

     

    Problem for me is we dont score goals. We needed to hit one or two in the first half. I like Connor but would like to see him get in a few shots from midfield. Dio gets in some shots but needs to get some shooting practice and he will help getting goals.

     

    I thought McCausland did well but Cerny should have started with even Ross moving to the left.

     

    Why is Danilo on the bench and never comes on.

     

    To be honest I thought they passed to ball well and played forward on our right where they could get the crosses in.

     

    Without tonights cash for the win doubt we will see much if anything before the window closes.

     

    However we are good enough to win this league if we get our best team on the park at the start of every game.

     

    WE are Rangers and will not give up but go forward in the Europa with a view to winning it.

    St Johnstone won 3-0 on Saturday and gave Aberdeen a decent game in the opening game last week.

     

     

    Saturday 5.30pm at half empty hampden could be interesting. Especially if the punters are revolting and players not at it.

    Not bothered about the coefficient . The board now know we’ll have qualifier/s to negotiate and will get the quality signings in earlier next summer .

    So, if we sign Adam Idah in addition to Bernardo…we are arguably standing still as a team. We’ll have spent more than the rest of all SPFL teams combined just to stand still. Well done Celtic….this is a consequence of last summers’ bored led transfer lottery. If MJ is the answer up front as our 3rd…am concerned about how limited the question was. Are we not looking to improve our squad?

    So it looks like the Club are really moving forward now.

     

     

    UCL play-offs a real goal to strive for – leave Basketcase FC far behind.

    Basic infrastructure redevelopment is a given for any progressive looking club….but not meaning its gonna be to the detriment of the 1st team….there will be no European progress when these projects supersede the managers wishes. If we wanna go in an upward spiral….it starts with investment in the team

    I’ll smugly state again that the Hun Board do not have the minerals to stand up to their revolting fan base.

     

     

    Cement will be gone by October if they’re papped out the cup at the weekend or drop more points by the time we beat them on September 1.

    There is absolutely no reason why the infrastructure improvements should impact on the first team building.

     

     

    Paying 8.5+mn for Idah means the manager got his way with the striker.

     

     

    Now of course it doesn’t mean we will buy more “quality” players, it doesn’t mean we will keep Matt O’Riley.

     

     

    So the jury is definitely out on strengthening the team.

     

     

    We have two weeks left in the window and I sincerely hope we have a team capable of competing for a play-off place in the UCL by the end of it…
