Not interested in your “Where’s the fixtures” patter

488

I appreciate there are people wanting to book flights and other travel arrangements, but I’m not interested in your “Where’s the fixtures?” patter.  No one else cares or is concentrating on who Celtic will play when they win the league, others have thoughts only for the Scottish Cup semi-finals.

Get Sunday wrong and it will be our last meaningful game of the season.  Whether the police are stuck in the last century or not makes no difference, but take our eye off the ball as we prepare for the weekend and things go wrong.  Look at St Mirren for an example of a club and support which spent energy planning a title party but lost to the worst Dundee United team in over 40 years.

Sunday is the only fixture we have. Literally. Keep our heads in the game.

I’d just turned 16 and had been going to concerts on a regular basis by that time, usually at the Apollo. This was my first open air gig and it was phenomenal.

    Great memories!

My first open air gig also. Actually, despite being a regular concert goer, my only other outdoor gig was Bowie at Murryfield (plus chubby checker at a corporate event in the US :)).

  4. SPFL and Police Scotland are clearly waiting for Trump triggering the end of the world so that they don’t have to realise fixtures at all and no one will be upset by Celtic winning the league…

because we will all have been vaporised by then…

At what point are folk going to say “Enough” ?

Enough of looking for and finding the worst in others and start looking for and finding and reporting the best.

When are we going take a step back and look at the world fear has created and decide to change our minds where fear has its birthplace.

This applies to more than football but sticking strictly to football our game is where it now finds itself because in 2012 folk running it feared the worst instead of looking for and planning for the best.

The 5 Way Agreement. The LNS Sham. All of it born of fear of “Armageddon” that has led to something worse. Loss of the faith in the human capacity to love.

Love is doing the right thing without fear of the consequences. Consequences that evaporate in Love’s light.

  11. Article smacks of ‘I’m alright Jack’ doesn’t matter to me who we play and when.

Lots of people have travel arrangements, work shifts to organize, holidays to book to get to games and its a disgrace that they still don’t know when the games are played.

  12. The tone of today’s article is unfortunate at best. I get the point, but there must have been a better way to get it across.

  13. Unconfirmed, but if true a disgrace from a governing long renowned for disgraceful decisions….

I saw Bowie at the Apollo in 73 and 78; also saw him in Murrayfield in 83, London 87, Glasgow 97 and 2003. Also caught him at the Brixton Academy with Tin Machine in 91.

The only one that was dodgy was the Glass Spider. The best musically was the Barrowland, but the most significant was the Apollo in May 1973. I was at both shows. Dogged school for the early show and went back in at night for the second show. Fantastic performances.

Saw U2 and Prince at Celtic Park. My wife was a big Prince fan. I became a fan that night, didnae realise how great a guitarist and showman Prince was. Was disappointed with U2. Had seen them about 5 times before in gigs like Tiffanys and Barrowlands and loved them. Thought Celtic Park was too big for them. They excelled at Murrayfield and Slane Castle gigs though in later years.

  17. I think this fixture $hit is even worse for bottom 6

The first time I saw U2, they were supporting Simple Minds at Tiffanys. Nobody wanted U2 to end their set.

Glasvegas at Carling Academy, blew me away the only time I saw them. Brilliant live and so loud.

  23. The purported fixtures’ list does not thrill me at all. I doubt if I will be able to attend more than 1 game.

Why can’t we have at least 2 or 3 Saturday 3 o’clock kick offs?
