Not interested in your “Where’s the fixtures” patter

488

I appreciate there are people wanting to book flights and other travel arrangements, but I’m not interested in your “Where’s the fixtures?” patter.  No one else cares or is concentrating on who Celtic will play when they win the league, others have thoughts only for the Scottish Cup semi-finals.

Get Sunday wrong and it will be our last meaningful game of the season.  Whether the police are stuck in the last century or not makes no difference, but take our eye off the ball as we prepare for the weekend and things go wrong.  Look at St Mirren for an example of a club and support which spent energy planning a title party but lost to the worst Dundee United team in over 40 years.

Sunday is the only fixture we have. Literally. Keep our heads in the game.

  1. GORDYBHOY64, lets win it against the deid club, and show them up for what they are, with the world watching on tv.hh.

  2. I personally couldn’t give a shit about winning the league against sevco. Get 3 points against Hibs and get it done and dusted. As pointed out on here any top 4 finish means a European place if we win the Cup.

What’s not to like? In the pub for 12:00 on Saturday 21st April, 3points and the league won by 14:20 and the rest of the weekend to celebrate.

The correct scenario of course should have been a home game at Paradise on 21st April but what do you expect from goat shaggers?

Win the league then show our disdain for sevco by playing the Celtic under 17’s against them. ?

  3. BP we are all well. My new hip still a wee bit sore and its begining to drag me down if truth be told. But as my old mother used to say ” there is always someone worse off than myself” . So I will just get on with it.

So, according to the St Mirren fan, “Rangers” have been disadvantaged by the fixtures.

11 home games and 9 away games against the top six and that’s a disadvantage?????

    A gibbering wreck of a man….

  5. Big Packy, they will show themselves up no matter what, but I would genuinely be fearful for our supporters if we were to win the league against them

Now said on the news this virus is difficult and severe

    Pass it on to all

You keep that virus to yourself and don’t be passing it on to me ?

  7. GORDYBHOY64, see where your coming from, maybe pogs idea would be good, win the league and play the u17s against them.

  8. What I can’t get the head around is all this pandering to the hun hoards, I know scotland is a sectarian shithole, but ffs, it’s 2018, I would have thought that by now the Catholics would have enough control, seems there is a bit to go then :-\

  9. Nothing at all good about losing hundreds of thousands of pounds through playing one of our remaining home games on a Wednesday night when it would have had no effect on an away midweek attendance at Eater Road or Tynecastle, not even taking into account the hardship for some to travel midweek.

SPFL couldn’t GAF about anyone but themselves and the hun.

  10. Guys the point is the first game should have been a home game, I maybe wrong, but I think we were due a home game. This would have enabled all season ticket holders who support the club by giving them their hard earned cash to see us winning the league.

It’s also the way the SFA have went about this, apart from us in game 2, the Huns other games 1 and 3 is against clubs that finished 5th and 6th. Ffs . Cheating again to get sevco points on the board and put pressure on Hibs and the sheep.

Now if Hibs did draw with us then all their cheating would have backfired on them.

  11. I want to win the league as soon as possible whether that’s Easter Rd or Celtic Park, either will do me. Winning in Leith and partying v Sevco would be good though.

  12. Gordybhoy64 we are never going to play the under 17s against them, as much as I would like us to, but it would not happen

    Whatever will be will be

  13. The fixture list means I won’t be at any of the games as only Saturday 3:00pm ko’s suit.

One thing that is consistent though is Ardbeg.

A wee splash of water and it is always gorgeous.

C’MON THE SEMI LAUTER MASH TUNNERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  14. THE EXILED TIM, listen pal firstly how are the dogs, secondly cant ever see our country not run by orange sectarian bigots, hope im wrong.hh.

  15. Here’s me trying to take some positives out of the fixtures, and not just through my Celtic eyes.

    1. We knew that our 3 home games would be Sevco (no chance of a Saturday at 3, the final trophy presentation game – all the final round fixtures have been on a Sunday for years now and 1 other. The MAXIMUM Saturday 3.00 home games we could have had was 1. We only fell short by 1 ;-)

    2. As we have all but won the league, attention switches to the tight race for 2nd, 3rd and 4th. Everyone was suggesting that Sevco might have had a 3rd home game against Hibs and also Aberdeen. Neither has happened. So those 3 teams will all end up having played one another twice at home and twice away. A very fair outcome there.

    3. I’m disappointed that our first chance to win the title is an away game. However, at least it’s in our hands and certainly won’t be the first time we’ll have won the league at an away ground (Hearts and Kilmarnock (twice?) in recent years.

    4. Should we win the league against Hibs there is a real opportunity to show the good side of Scottish football in the next game. This isn’t tongue in cheek but a serious point – Having the Rangers* players applauding us onto the park (as is the tradition) would be a step in the right direction.

    5. One downside is the lack of an explanation as to why the Sevco game is on the Sunday and not the Saturday. At least that would have been a Saturday home game, albeit not at 3pm

    6. I do wonder what the ole Sevco fans are expecting from their own fixture schedule (not that we should care). But a schedule of Hearts (H), Celtic (A), Killie (H), Aberdeen (A), Hibs (A) is just about as bad as it could have been for them.

There are 15 ‘top 6’ fixtures after the split. 9 of them are live on TV. There are only 4 Saturday 3pm games, Kilmarnock v Aberdeen, Hibs v Kilmarnock, Aberdeen v Hibs and Sevco v Kilmarnock.

The schedule isn’t particularly bad for Celtic (the team) although there are clearly significant problems for our extensive travelling support.

    Just my opinion.

  16. GlassTwoThirdsFull on

No visit to Tynecastle for Sevco? Sure they played at Murrayfield earlier in the season.

On a completely unrelated matter, aren’t Hearts unbeaten at Tynecastle…..?

  17. In other news…

EKFC are 1 point behind Spartans with 2 games to go in the ole Lowland League. Both teams play tonight. EKFC kicked off at 6.45 and are 2 up away to Whitehill Welfare. Spartans kick off shortly away to Dalbeattie Star. Now, there’s a title race!

Any other football being played tonight? ;-)

  18. Glasstwothirdsfull –

Sevco were only ever going to be given 3 away games. Which of the 3 away games that they have would you prefer to have been played at Ibrox.

    Oh wait, Hibs perhaps? ;-)

It’s the TV companies, in this case BT, who would have insisted that our first game post split, where we get first opportunity to clinch the title, is away from home. It’s simple maths, Celtic at home, 60k in stadium, TV audience smaller than Celtic away, 5k in stadium, TV audience bigger.

Sevco game is Sunday lunchtime because Sky have an EPL lunchtime game on the Saturday (Liverpool I think) whereas their Sunday EPL game (Arsenal) is at 2.15pm once our game is finished. It’s about filling their schedule with minimum crossover of games.

    Just beautiful!

We are thinking about getting a dog just now.

After those pics we are a wee bit closer.

  24. Whether sevco get into Europe or not should not be down to Hibs finishing above them in the league, it should be down to whether sevco have submitted audited accounts that show that their are trading within solvent means.

The SFA won’t comment on this at the moment using the excuse that the final European places have not been settled and it would be disrespectful to the other clubs involved.

Let’s face it I’d like to see Rod Petrie squirming in front of his own fans if sevco were to be given a European place at the expense of Hibs.
