I caught an online synopsis of Rangers’ owner Craig Whyte’s recent meeting with a group of the club’s fans last night. The group report that Whyte hopes, “’Rangers Football Club Plc’ could survive any administration event but feels it would not be the end of the world if it didn’t.”
We can all agree, it sure wouldn’t be the end of the world if that particular entity didn’t survive, although I suspect Mr Whyte is alluding to the possibility of a new club emerging. Celtic Quick News first raised the liquidation scenario back in October and explained a prepack route for Rangers Newco FC. If a football company goes into liquidation a secured creditor, in Rangers case this would be Craig Whyte, can retain control of key assets, such as the stadium, but would not own a football club which was part of any league structure.
In Scotland any Newco FC would have to apply for membership of the Scottish Premier League or Scottish Football League. A simple majority of the SPL board (three votes required) would be enough to vote a club into the SPL. The board currently has representatives from Celtic, Dundee United, Motherwell and St Johnstone, as well as SPL chief exec, Neil Doncaster. It is chaired by Ralph Topping, who only votes in the event of a stalemate.
If Rangers lose their tribunal against Her Majesty’s tax authorities (think of her underequipped soldiers), Celtic will not be the only club who will consider the commercial and competitive disadvantage they suffered while paying their taxes for the last 12 years, but they may be one of the few clubs that would survive without the sponsorship and TV income dependent on a club with the Rangers brand participating in the league. Celtic would vote against allowing Rangers into the league but I can see zero chance of Dundee United, St Johnstone, Motherwell or Neil Doncaster doing the same. If the board voted Newco FC into the league, the liquidation of Rangers would not be the end of the world; a football club would die but another could quickly emerge at the same location, selling tickets to the same people.
Opening positions on what sporting cost Newco FC should face for league entry were taken months ago when it was reported that Rangers would fight “tooth and nail” against a 25 point penalty on a Newco. A 25 point penalty on the phoenix of a failed club after 12 seasons of financial benefit would be an insufferable insult. This amounts to little more than a the loss of a single league title. 12 seasons of benefit should result in a 12 seasons of penury at the insolvency-event rate of 10 points per season. Small cost for the enormous gift of a league place and a huge football franchise. The SPL must also strike from the record any financially doped titles won by clubs still in existence or not.
Can you imagine if Peter Lawwell said, “It wouldn’t be the end of the world if Celtic PLC didn’t survive”! There would be an impromptu media village outside Celtic Park that would rival the Obama inauguration in size. Huge story sitting on a plate just waiting to be written up. Or not.

It is true that I do not contribute to the blog as often as I used to, but that is purely down to other commitments, and has absolutely nothing to do with kitalba or any other poster.

Jamaica’s new Prime Minister, Portia Simpson Miller, has said she intends to make the island a republic, removing Queen Elizabeth as the head of state.
In her inaugural address, Ms Simpson Miller said the time had come for Jamaica to break with the British monarchy and have its own president.
The announcement comes ahead of celebrations to mark 50 years of Jamaican independence from Britain.
The Queen’s grandson, Prince Harry, is due to the visit the island this year.

Hi all. WAY off-topic.
Looking for a bit of help from any IT knowledgable posters.
A friend in Tanzania contacted me last night for advice. He (or a friend) has very nearly fallen for a version of the Nigerian 419 scam. Several e-mails exchanged and now bank details allegedely from Standard Life Bank of Scotland have been sent to him. Obviously I have told him to stop all contact immediately.
Is there any other advice I should be giving or action I could take?
Going to work now but will look in from time to time to see if anyone responds.

I wen’t onto the Clyde phone-in the other week, the day before the huns game and, stated that, Willie Collum had been hand-picked for that game ?
Hugh Keevins said to me that, he couldn’t accept my inference about Collum so, I said to him that I based my point of view on the fact that….
Hugh Dallas was pictured in the huns directors box at their previous home game v’s ICT, remember the one where, ICT were denied 2 stonewall penalties and, had a goal ‘mysteriously’ disallowed ?
Also pictured in the hun directors-box was, Mo(judas) Johnston ?
And yet, 2 days after that game, Collum was announced as the ref for the derby game ?
Mark Guidi jumped-in as though to, bail Keevins out and, started to talk all over me asking, “Do you have a problem with any other ref apart from Collum ?”
At that point I said, “I wouldn’t trust any of them!”
Guidi said, “Your wrong Kevin!”

I can’t help but get the feeling David Murray is still pulling the strings behind the scenes with the huns.
Who in their right mind (Whyte) would agree to let the previous owner (Murray) control the strategy and way the huns tax case is litigated?
Would you allow your business and your future to be determined by the person who created the problem initially? The person who will obviously act out of self interest. Seriously, why did Whyte agree to this?
Why have the laptop loyal stayed so loyal to Whyte?
Why are Media House who were/are Murray’s attack dogs more active than ever?
Some think Whyte is stumbling from one crisis to another. I think it’s looking more likely there is a plan in place and Whyte is merely playing his part.

I agree that this kind of decision would require a meeting of all the member clubs, my fear and MWD hints at it, is Celtic PLC might be trying to duck out of the decision to veto NewCo by leaving the vote to the sub-committee. It then can say to fans we kept our integrity and did what the fans wanted but we were out voted.
But if the decision has to be taken by all the clubs and qualified majority voting is applied through the 90% rule then clearly our representative would kill off NewCo, which they might not want to do or have that responsibility.
That is why I have said to Auldheid that we should call an “open meeting” of as many supporters’ groups and individuals as we can and discuss what the supporters want to see happen and transmit our feelings to the Club.
This is a massive issue if not a defining issue for our club we have to do the right thing, and to do that we have to decide our course of action,we must have our say on this.

I have to be honest,it looked like two-three inc Rogne going for the ball,though only Kayal had much chance of getting it.
For me,a free-kick. The injury was obviously a disaster for us,but it was not a malicious tackle.
