I caught an online synopsis of Rangers’ owner Craig Whyte’s recent meeting with a group of the club’s fans last night. The group report that Whyte hopes, “’Rangers Football Club Plc’ could survive any administration event but feels it would not be the end of the world if it didn’t.”
We can all agree, it sure wouldn’t be the end of the world if that particular entity didn’t survive, although I suspect Mr Whyte is alluding to the possibility of a new club emerging. Celtic Quick News first raised the liquidation scenario back in October and explained a prepack route for Rangers Newco FC. If a football company goes into liquidation a secured creditor, in Rangers case this would be Craig Whyte, can retain control of key assets, such as the stadium, but would not own a football club which was part of any league structure.
In Scotland any Newco FC would have to apply for membership of the Scottish Premier League or Scottish Football League. A simple majority of the SPL board (three votes required) would be enough to vote a club into the SPL. The board currently has representatives from Celtic, Dundee United, Motherwell and St Johnstone, as well as SPL chief exec, Neil Doncaster. It is chaired by Ralph Topping, who only votes in the event of a stalemate.
If Rangers lose their tribunal against Her Majesty’s tax authorities (think of her underequipped soldiers), Celtic will not be the only club who will consider the commercial and competitive disadvantage they suffered while paying their taxes for the last 12 years, but they may be one of the few clubs that would survive without the sponsorship and TV income dependent on a club with the Rangers brand participating in the league. Celtic would vote against allowing Rangers into the league but I can see zero chance of Dundee United, St Johnstone, Motherwell or Neil Doncaster doing the same. If the board voted Newco FC into the league, the liquidation of Rangers would not be the end of the world; a football club would die but another could quickly emerge at the same location, selling tickets to the same people.
Opening positions on what sporting cost Newco FC should face for league entry were taken months ago when it was reported that Rangers would fight “tooth and nail” against a 25 point penalty on a Newco. A 25 point penalty on the phoenix of a failed club after 12 seasons of financial benefit would be an insufferable insult. This amounts to little more than a the loss of a single league title. 12 seasons of benefit should result in a 12 seasons of penury at the insolvency-event rate of 10 points per season. Small cost for the enormous gift of a league place and a huge football franchise. The SPL must also strike from the record any financially doped titles won by clubs still in existence or not.
Can you imagine if Peter Lawwell said, “It wouldn’t be the end of the world if Celtic PLC didn’t survive”! There would be an impromptu media village outside Celtic Park that would rival the Obama inauguration in size. Huge story sitting on a plate just waiting to be written up. Or not.

Even I can’t believe that CW would have the stones to take the fans money up front and then shaft them .
this added to the sale of strips at half price at the busiest sale time of the year (christmas )would any ragers fan go for the ST request .
Another thing though that seems to be getting missed regards a newco .If it did occur ,what would happen to the 6m ragers are due to pay back to the ST/debenture holders at Ibrokes ,I think it’s due to be paid in 2014/2015.
Are they going to have to whistle for it ,I think a lot of ragers supporters would not care less if the taxman got nothing but surely even they would have something to say if their fellow fellow fans were given the same treatment

As we seem to be in, or approaching, the end game in the FTT(T), the SPL cubs must be considering what their position will be when faced with an application from New Ragers FC to replace their corrupt, destitute predecessor.
As has been discussed previously, both here and on other blogs such as RTC, there is a distinct possibility that New Ragers could be admitted without penalty and business as usual will be allowed to happen, due to the financial interests of the clubs involved and possible loss of TV revenue if there was no Celtic/Ragers game (damn, I just can’t get that “n” to word on my keyboard).
I feel strongly that Scottish Football will have provided conclusive evidence that it is morally bankrupt if this is allowed to happen, but what concerns me most is that Celtic PLC wil not vote against this outcome – if they do, I won’t be back and I’m sure there are many who feel as I do. We need to let them know how we feel – 10,000 lost season tickets equates to £5-6m in annual turnover – Celtic MUST oppose any application that does not carry a significant penalty.

We have to be realistic, it’s too important to make fanciful demands.
A newco huns should not be allowed straight into the SPL. Celtic could ensure that outcome if they commit themselves to it.

Apparently the hold up with the Sandanza move to Snake Mountain is down to a technical hitch, it is not financial,
The rankers scouts have advised sally that Sandazas technical abilities do not stretch to falling over at the slightest suggestion of a tackle, or a gust of wind
Sally has spoken to the player and agent and advised this has to be rectified or the move is off.

I think this situation is totaaly unique, that is why if a NewCo wanted special treatment the SPL clubs could impose strict conditions for the benefit. They would also have to re-write the rules as what would stop other clubs outwith the SPL saying well we think our club should go straight into thr SPL and just apply if they were refused they could challenge it.
One part of head says the establishment will do all it can to help NewCo RFC into the most helpful position possible, another part of thinks this will be far too complicated to deal with in a short period of a few months, combined with howls from Dundee and Airdrie Utd. threats of legal action from the team bottom of the SPL as well as the team top of Div. 1.
The most ethical way would be any NewCo to start in the Div.3 and the dodgy titles and cups won by RFC to be re-allocated.
If the Huns remaining an SPL club was ever to be voted on I can guess how it would go.
There are no football clubs left, only businesses who happen to play football.

The whole thing is a farce.
The Transfer of share rules/articles were, IMO, never written to allow a liquidated and reborn Newco to be afforded the share of the OldHunCo in order to accommodate the Newco within the SPL. The rules/articles were written, IMO (again), to allow the SPL to convene a General Meeting, were remaining existing members (excluding member being liquidated) passing a Qualified Resolution to transfer the liquidated members share to a new member who would be the team who currently holds 2nd place in the first division, assuming that team qualifies as per SPL rules on stadia etc.
If the Newco is going to be afforded a position in the SPL in place of the OldHunCo it is due to the wording of the SPL articles being ambiguous creating a loophole. Since the rules would be being manipulated to use the loophole then surely the rules/loophole can be manipulated to, not punish the Newco, but place criteria on their entry to the SPL that they must adhere to in order to be allowed to use the loophole. Otherwise the General Meeting of SPL members will pass a Qualified Resolution to transfer the OldHunCo share to the rightful new member being promoted from the first division.
MWD hoped that makes sense.

Apparentley when they built the club deck at Ibrokes the money was raised by a debencher scheme
were existing ST holders paid a fee to secure their seat for 25yr (I think)and get ttheir name on the back of the seat .
At the time I thought it strange that any ST holder would pay a fee to secure a seat that he/she would more than likely have (unless they gave it up)for as long as the paid their ST money .
Well it seems it was a sort of loan which would be paid back by ragers at a future date ,now back then 6m would not really present a problem when they were spending 12m on one player but NOW a 6m demand presents a lot more trouble for the ragers
On the surface it seems like another one of Minty’s use other peepils money but let everyone think it’s your own schemes

Another tactic we should employ is to get a business case together for Newco 2 applying to get access to the SPL at the same time as RFC Newco. Of course we would need to come up with a business plan for a club that represented a gap in the market for a large fan base and have a stadium to play in.
Unlikely that an alternative could be put forward given that the ‘gap’ is represented by sectarian fans with a stadium that will most probably be owned by the MBB. I am sure there are more powerful rangers men out there who would be willing to put forward a counter to an MBB led newco?

Could Celtic not come up with a tactic of making an application for a NewCo Celtic Reserves, where we could apply to have a team of our reserves apply for a new licence to be granted to our club to do what has been discussed previously that we create a team for a younger players to get valuable experience in the lower divisions.
This could be a perfect oppurtunity for our club to advance our young team and blood them to establish if they can make the grade in our first team.
