I caught an online synopsis of Rangers’ owner Craig Whyte’s recent meeting with a group of the club’s fans last night. The group report that Whyte hopes, “’Rangers Football Club Plc’ could survive any administration event but feels it would not be the end of the world if it didn’t.”
We can all agree, it sure wouldn’t be the end of the world if that particular entity didn’t survive, although I suspect Mr Whyte is alluding to the possibility of a new club emerging. Celtic Quick News first raised the liquidation scenario back in October and explained a prepack route for Rangers Newco FC. If a football company goes into liquidation a secured creditor, in Rangers case this would be Craig Whyte, can retain control of key assets, such as the stadium, but would not own a football club which was part of any league structure.
In Scotland any Newco FC would have to apply for membership of the Scottish Premier League or Scottish Football League. A simple majority of the SPL board (three votes required) would be enough to vote a club into the SPL. The board currently has representatives from Celtic, Dundee United, Motherwell and St Johnstone, as well as SPL chief exec, Neil Doncaster. It is chaired by Ralph Topping, who only votes in the event of a stalemate.
If Rangers lose their tribunal against Her Majesty’s tax authorities (think of her underequipped soldiers), Celtic will not be the only club who will consider the commercial and competitive disadvantage they suffered while paying their taxes for the last 12 years, but they may be one of the few clubs that would survive without the sponsorship and TV income dependent on a club with the Rangers brand participating in the league. Celtic would vote against allowing Rangers into the league but I can see zero chance of Dundee United, St Johnstone, Motherwell or Neil Doncaster doing the same. If the board voted Newco FC into the league, the liquidation of Rangers would not be the end of the world; a football club would die but another could quickly emerge at the same location, selling tickets to the same people.
Opening positions on what sporting cost Newco FC should face for league entry were taken months ago when it was reported that Rangers would fight “tooth and nail” against a 25 point penalty on a Newco. A 25 point penalty on the phoenix of a failed club after 12 seasons of financial benefit would be an insufferable insult. This amounts to little more than a the loss of a single league title. 12 seasons of benefit should result in a 12 seasons of penury at the insolvency-event rate of 10 points per season. Small cost for the enormous gift of a league place and a huge football franchise. The SPL must also strike from the record any financially doped titles won by clubs still in existence or not.
Can you imagine if Peter Lawwell said, “It wouldn’t be the end of the world if Celtic PLC didn’t survive”! There would be an impromptu media village outside Celtic Park that would rival the Obama inauguration in size. Huge story sitting on a plate just waiting to be written up. Or not.

Kayal hits the ball low so his foot gets planted, Clugger hits it higher so his goes up. You will see his body leaning back after the impact in the second raising it even more. Cluggers foot is in front of Kayals standing leg. Because of the angle of the pic it is hard to see how much in front.
Pic 1 shows they both went walloping into a 50-50 ball trying to win it. The aftermath of which was our player being injured. I do not believe after seeing the stills in order and watching it full speed Clugger intentionally injured Kayal.

Whatever tackle, whatever action, the player who atacks the ball can’t use more power than it’s needed to get the ball avoiding damage.
Everybody who seen the game or can read the reports about Kayal’s injury and says that it was fair tackle is wrong.
It really does not matter who was first to the ball. It really does not matter who touched the ball first.
Sorry to say that, but guys who say it was 50/50 tackle do damage to the game.
Now, you tell me why the assistant referee checks boots of the player who is about to come on the pitch?
Maybe time to do boots with thorns for Rangers players? Let them wear these boots for the games against Celtic.

To me that’s why he should have been sent off. Excessive force, straight leg, hit the ball so high he went over the top. It’s a sending off offense and as he went in with so much force without control it is reckless.
CELTIC Under-19s kick off their Mercedes-Benz Junior Cup participation with a game against Lazio today (Friday) at 3.05pm.
And they will follow that up with further matches today against Hamburg (6.08pm) and SC Freiburg (7.18pm). There will be further games on Saturday.
John Kennedy has taken a squad to Stuttgart for the prestigious six-a-side game, and it will provide an idea preparation before the Under-19s resume their league campaign.

Point 1: Competitiveness leads to a better league. Not necessarily a better quality league, but a more exciting one, one with a bigger draw, more reason to support a team. This equates to more people through the gate, better money for TV deals, leading to improved sponsorship opportunities, etc etc. I think we can all just about agree on this point, I hope?
Point 2: An incentive for clubs to cheat the tax man is a bad thing. No real explanation needed, we can all see that if clubs have a precedent for this form of cheating being accepted, they will indulge in it. There’s a quote, not sure who from, that says if you’re not cheating, you don’t want to win enough. They mean that if you’re not pushing all the boundaries to their limit and bending all the rules in your favour, well, you’re not that interested in winning, are you? If you can get an advantage in any way, then if you want to win, you’ll do it. So we have to set the limits very clearly or clubs will continue to push further to see what else they can get away with. I can’t see anyone disagreeing with that.
Problem: Point 1 and 2 cause us some conflict. We don’t want clubs to cheat, but we do want competitiveness. By taking Rangers out of the equation, we lose that competitiveness. By leaving Rangers in the equation we condone cheating (and thus likely encourage more, see Hearts as the probable next mover).
It comes down to this, in my view. Do clubs want the ability, and to give their peers the ability to cheat? Where do we draw the line? When does winning at all costs become too costly? How many jobs lost and businesses destroyed is tolerable?
Perhaps more importantly, how long before HMRC come up with a mechanism to stop clubs? Not very, is my rough estimate. Everyone involved in Scottish football at any level should be considering these questions, because that is what we’re really asking when we talk about a NewCo Rangers being allowed to play in the SPL.
Final Point: Competitiveness does not necessarily equal Celtic against Rangers.
Remember, Rangers have only managed to be competitive by cheating. So the current competitiveness of our league (already low) is a myth. It doesn’t actually exist. NewCo Rangers cannot continue business as usual, for OldCo proves that model fails! So NewCo would not be the “powerhouse” it is now, and even now… well I put powerhouse in quote marks for a reason.
Is there a way we can increase competitiveness throughout the league in Scotland? Can we fill stadiums up and down the country rather than just one in Glasgow? Will OldCo Rangers fans re-distribute themselves? If we assume for a few years after Rangers disappear and aren’t replaced that Celtic win the league reasonably comfortably, then let us not forget that there is a disproportionate prize for second place. Suddenly that place matters. And is now attainable by almost anyone in the league, for third place, or “best of the rest” isn’t consistently won by anyone. If we can get some more money spread through the league (and here is were Celtic will always have the advantage of a 60,000 stadium which can’t really be accounted for) then it looks up for everyone.
The SFA, Celtic, and all Scottish clubs should be anticipating this event. They should not be thinking “How can we bend things and let the tax dodgers back in” but “How can we use this opportunity to make a better league for all clubs who have played fair”.
There’s a whole league out there. Let’s use it.

imo the two follow-throughs show the intentions, biram was interested in playing the ball, mcculloch carried on so far past it that he could only have been interested in playing the man, even if he got the ball as well.
its the sort of challenge he specialises in, he’ll make it look like there’s a genuine effort to get the ball, it puts enough doubt in the mind of an under-pressure referee that he wont card him for it. he did exactly the same thing at cp in the 1-3 game last season. that along with the way he falls over whenever anyone goes anywhere near him and how he always goes down holding his head as if he’s been elbowed means i’ll never give him the benefit of the doubt.
i’d like him never to play football again so we dont ever have to have this sort of discussion again

As much as I would like it, there is absolutely no way there will be any inquest into RFC past seasons of financial steroids, much too difficult to ascertain whre and when it started and how much influence it had
Anyway that’s in the past and going forward I reckon the huns will bankrupt them selves and then as you say:

This is how I see it panning out and I am lot more concerned about how we go forward rather than what has past

I will answer it for you, if you were managing Peterhead this weekend, you would do exactly what Jim is doing. You would be telling your players to get right in about Celtic in the first 15 minutes, put a few heavy tackles in and see if Celtic are up for it. Im sure every lower league side playing a bigger team will have exactly the same tactics. On a cold windy day in Peterhead (Im told SKY can’t even erect a camera platform because of the wind) then that is their only chance.
BTW Celtic will be up for it.
Sunderland’s James McClean appears to have ruled out reversing his decision to declare for the Republic of Ireland.
McClean played for Northern Ireland at youth and Under-21 level but opted for the Republic last year after turning down a Northern Ireland senior call-up.
New Northern Ireland boss Michael O’Neill said earlier this week that McClean was on his “radar” but those hopes appear to have been dashed.
“I have declared myself for the Republic,” McClean told the Irish News.
“That’s where I see my [international] future.
“If I don’t get called up, then I’ll live with that but I have confidence in my own ability that I will get a call-up at some stage with the Republic of Ireland.

I read Salmond’s comments delivered at the Catholic Headteacher’s conference prior to the last elections and believed that he was genuine in his support of Catholic schools and that things had changed.
Now many will claim that I was either naive in the extreme or just plain thick. However, I went against upbringing and good sense and put my X beside SNP.
