I don’t subscribe to the ‘Nothing to lose’ lobby, who seem to think underdogs can play free from the burden of having to win. Let me remind you where this Celtic team have come from…..
Celtic came through two qualifying rounds to reach the Champions League group stage, as bottom seed. The collected 10 points in six incredibly tight games to finish above Benfica and Spartak Moscow to reach the knock out stage, losing only twice.
The margin between success (first or second place) and failure (bottom) was incredibly tight. We are now 10 games into our European campaign and in the knock out stage for the first time in five years. For Celtic, these opportunities are few and far between.
The team with nothing to lose is Juventus. They are Italian champions and will be so again this year. Their major competitors, Inter and Milan, occupy fourth and fifth place in the league respectively. Napoli are the only team within 9 points of the top and they only won the league when Diego was strutting his stuff.
Juventus will be in the Champions League group stage next season and will be seeded to qualify for the knock out stage. It could easily be the quarter finals before they face another tier-one side. In other words, if Juve lost this tie, there will soon be another chance.
No one in the Celtic team knows if they will have another opportunity to reach deep inside the Champions League.
Nothing to lose? For Forster, Matthews, Hooper, Lustig, Samaras, Commons, Wanyama and Mulgew, this is the greatest chance of their professional lives. Win it and they become celebrated across Europe. They before more valuable professionals, likely to earn bigger contracts in the future. They have everything to lose.
On Friday 1 March the Lisbon Lions will be at the Kerrydale Suite providing commentary and answering questions on their magnificent European Cup final win in 1967. This has never happened in 46 years since that game, to say it is a unique opportunity fails to tell the whole story.

I’m lurking, not read all the posts. Must say, in those that I have read I have not noticed any offensive posts. Christians are not sad people who can’t laugh or say jokes about the Pope or priests. Saying that, I state there is a line between telling the jokes and offending old man whose ability is not as good as some of us. If people don’t cross that line and don’t offend the Pope as the human being I don’t see the problem.
On the other hand, something tells me it must have been very tough decision for Benedict XVI.

I had problems completing tickets application as i didnt notice there was two small boxes to be ticked, terms and conditions and if your tickets are sold out they will put you in another catagory i kept trying to click confirm but was not getting anywhere so i went back a page and ended up on the official champ lge web page at the start. Luckily my email log on that i clicked on took me straight to completion hope you have same luck i had.

Finally got registered for 2 tickets for champions league final (I should say got registered for the ballot), they give you a choice of price of tickets, wasn’t sure which to pick, anyway its probbaly 10000 to 1 ballot but you need to be in it to win it (please note Sevco and champions league).

Regarding the jokes posted on here today. I’m not a catholic but find it strange to see so many jokes made on here today. I don’t take offence at any jokes posted on here today because to be honest my taste in humor can be very gallows like at times. But that said i know many on here would take offence if i posted some of the jokes made today, thats why i wouldn’t do it.
To me it reminds me of a guy that’s just taken over a new buisness across the city. He opens his gub and lets nonsense come out purely because he knows he will get a reaction.
Most people on here would agree that that man is a bit of a joke figure and his comments are ill thought out and crass at best…….

Of course I respect Paul’s opinion but don’t agree with it, we’ve had nothing to lose since the minute we qualified for the group stages, after that anything was a bonus, including 3rd place and Uefa cup qualification.
Taking all things into consideration, the league we are in, the players we have, transfer budgets etc, in qualifying for the knock out stages we are punching well above our weight and Neil Johan etc and the playing staff deserve enormous credit for taking us thus far.
The players of course know they are on a huge stage and will be sure give it their all, all we need do is support them 100% and let them get on with it. Would like to think they are under no pressure whatsoever from the fan base.
