NTCHAM IS BRENDAN’S MAN

CELTIC are close to completing a deal for Olivier Ntcham from Manchester City in a deal to be around £4 million.

The midfielder has completed a medical and received a tour of Celtic Park as the deal reaches the stages of formalities.

Brendan Rodgers was coy on who exactly it was as he discussed transfers after his side demolished Shamrock Rovers 9-0.

“Yes, we have a player in. He is going through a medical, all going very well at the moment, so hopefully that shall be announced.’

The powerful midfielder spent the past two seasons at Genoa, where he made 37 appearances. in Italy and was impressive; however, a breakdown in negotiations regarding a permanent move saw him return to City.

Rodgers has been looking for someone to play in the Number ten position for him and turn defences inside-out and sees the French U21 International is the man to do that.

“We have players who can play there but it’s about getting pace and power and also another one that can make the last pass.”

Rodgers said last week about what he was looking for in his next signing. “I felt that was something I wanted to add. We are hopeful we can get that.”
